>> INTERVIEW: TNM BASEMENT INTERVIEW WITH WINGSAULT (MAY '99) WingSaults WAR Circuit can be located at http://wingwar.hypermart.net As usual WS stands for WingSault bAz stands for me bAz: First of all we'll talk about wrestling...How did you actually first find out about professional wrestling, and who were your favourite wrestlers? WS: When I was six years old I remember my sister and my dad always watching it together, and it was around that time that I began to join in and watching them. I watched WWF and my favorites where Steamboat and Warrior. I can remember arguing with my sister on who would win in the WM VI Warrior-Hogan match. Of course, I was right, and Warrior took the gold. bAz: What in your opinion is the best federation in the world? WS: I mostly like Japan's promotions. New Japan is great for it's junior heavyweight division of Jyushin Lyger and Shinjiro Ohtani, and is the most popular promotion in Japan. All Japan is great for it's incredibly stiff heavyweights like Mitsuharu Misawa and Toshiaki Kawada. I loved the Michinoku Pro of old, they definatly had the best top-to-bottom cards of any promotion and there incredible ability to import Lucha Libre into their junior style was one of the things that drew me to them. bAz: Now onto TNM matters...How did you first find out about TNM? WS: When I first started with simulators two years back, maybe three, I used WLS 5.3. I went searching for exports to put into it so I didn't have to make all of the wrestlers I wanted to use. Upon doing that I noticed more places had TNM exports then anything. So I asked around and finally somebody linked me to Copp's TNM site. bAz: What version did you download? WS: 6.2 bAz: What version did you first register? WS: 6.2 bAz: What made TNM different from any wrestling simulators that you'd seen? WS: Most simulators I had played then only had the match aspect of it, with you choosing moves to try and punish your opponent with. But TNM was different. It let you sit back in the front office, and take charge of the promotions future by hiring, firing, scheduling, etc.. It has moved on to a new level, allowing you to use plug-ins to enhance your TNM experience, and also allowing you to book spots and sequences, which I love. bAz: What do you hope to see in TNM7 Gold? WS: Hopefully, Copp will add the two ingriedients that will make TNM complete for me. The first, the ability to book dives and counters during a match, which would help me out deeply booking my WAR cards because it has such a deep junior heavyweight roster. The second, add the business standpoint into the game. Have a salary cap, contracts, deals with other promotions like with the NJPW-UFO deal in Japan. To me, if those things were needed, there would be nothing else to be made for TNM, it would be, IMO, the perfect simulator. bAz: What do you think of Zeus 3? WS: I haven't really played Zeus much. The last time I did was about 5 months ago. After playing TNM and then playing Zeus, Zeus just couldn't compare. bAz: What do you think of the FCA Cubed series of plugins? WS: I think they're great. It gives me a chance to bring some extremely hardcore matches in WAR if I ever need them. This is probably the second best plug-in out right now. With the first being the Circuit Editor. bAz: What do you think of the Interview Integrator? WS: It's great. For only five bucks you can make your cards seem more realistic everytime. It helps you develop angles and such with little effort. Some people criticise this plug-in, but spending a measly $5 to get a quality plug-in from Oliver is a great deal. bAz: What do you think is the best TNM7 plugin? WS: The Circuit Editor. Now, instead of doing everything right after the card, you can just run the card, and then think up what to write about whenever you feel without having to worry about messing the card up. Plus, you can change the actual results line, which I will soon be using to add a new look to the WAR results events. bAz: What would you like to see as the next TNM7 match plugin? WS: Well, there aren't many hardcore ones out there. Time Bomb Barbed Wire Cage, Barbed Wire Spidernet, etc.. bAz: Finally we come to the TNM Sites section..What TNM sites do you frequent most often? WS: Wing's WAR at http://wingwar.hypermart.net...LoL, well, sorry but I had to get a shameless plug in there somewhere. I probably go to Copp's TNM site so I can take a look at the move database, what was a genious idea by Oliver. bAz: What do you think of the sites that post exports of wrestlers who haven't even wrestled? e.g. Midian, "Titan" a.k.a Paul Wight WS: I think it's ridiculous. You should never make an export unless you have seen them wrestle with that gimmick and know that they do in fact use that gimmick. The "Titan" thing IMO brought the biggest criticism towards these export makers, as I would believe it screwed up some of the users circuits when they used these exports, and then found out that Wight wasn't even using the Titan gimmick. bAz: What do you think of the TNM Basement site and newsletter? WS: I often contribute results for the newsletter, so I believe it's a great thing, because it allows people to have a sample of the circuit, and then decide weither or not they want to visit it or not. It's almost like a screening process. I haven't been to the site recently, I've been way too busy, but last time I checked, it was in the top 5 in quality for TNM sites. bAz: And the last question for today WingSault...What do you hope to see in the future for TNM and you? WS: I certainly hope that Copp continues to improve bit-by-bit on TNM with plug-ins, etc..Also, I hope that this time, I can get it right and have a very long run with my current cicuit Wrestle Association Rikugun. I always have enjoyed TNM, because I love being in charge of things and watch angles develop to add build to matches. bAz: Thanks very much WingSault for taking the time to answer these questions. See ya later and hope to hear from you soon. WingSaults WAR Circuit can be located at http://wingwar.hypermart.net
