| Grab your Nintendo 64 and hold
on for one of the funniest and wettest ride you'll ever take in Wave
Race 64. Wave Race 64 stands out from other racing games. Nearly every
single angle of Wave Race 64 is perfect, making it one of the best racing
games ever. And since Wave Race 64 was the third game to be released
for the Nintendo 64 in America it really utilizes the N64's capabilities
at such an early stage. In Wave Race you take to a handful of beautifully
and excellently designed courses using one of four racers on jet Skis competing
to reach the finish line first braving fog, rain, darkness, choppy waves,
or anything else that crosses there path.
There are four modes to have fun in: Championship mode, where you compete for the gold, Time Trials, where you race for the fastest time, Stunt mode, allowing you to perform awesome moves and collect rings to rack up the points, and Two Player mode, which allows two players to race head to head at any of the available tracks. When on glances over at Wave Race 64 they can't help but be amazed at the awesome graphics, from the realistically moving waves, to the sun setting and reflecting off the water, to a heavy fog making racing al that much more difficult. The controls are just right for Wave Race 64. Using 'A' or 'Z' to accelerate can give players more variety and the choice to choose the more comfortable position for them. You can have the racer lean forward to gain extra speed or lean back more to get more air going of the jumps can simply be done by pushing up or down on the joystick. The C Buttons work as the camera, which is nothing out of place or irregular there. Another replay adding mode is the 2 Player mode of course which allows two people to go race each other at any of the nine courses. While many people would have preferred a 4 player mode, but the screen being cut in half already adds enough twists and challenges as it is. Otherwise the 2 player mode haas no real problems. So all and all, Wave Race 64 is one top notch game, and is one of the best racing games out there and is a must have for Jet Ski fans!
