Materia and It's Uses

This section will explain the uses of any materia you find!In the magic section, the first spell is what you can cast when you first acquire the materia, to cast other spells, you must level-up the materia. The mastered level of materia is 5 when you achieve this, you can either cast a summon 5 times, use an ultimate type of magic, or use the ultimate command. Materia with one spell can only be used when it has been mastered. Also, when materia is mastered, it splits into a new level-1 materia. To get materia to level 2, you need 10,000 ap, 3, 20,000 ap, 4, 30,000 ap, and 5, 50,000 ap. You gain ap after winning battles, the amount varies according to enemy power. Anyway, these are all the spells and such that can be used.The number at the end is how much MP it takes.

Materia Types

• Magic Materia-materia used to summon magic elements from the earth.
• Summon Materia-materia used to summon monsters to fight for you.
• Command Materia-materia that adds a special command like "steal" to your command list.
• Independent Materia-materia used by itself to affect you in some way, like the "extra experience materia" gains you extra exp. after a battle.

  • Flash Sometimes useless, Instantly kills all opponents
  • STEAL:
  • Steal Steal an item from an opponent
  • Mug Attack and steal from an opponent

  • Coin Throws 600,000 Gil at opponents
  • W-ITEM Use an item two times in a row in battle

  • CHOCOBO LURE Lure Chocobos out of hiding
  • COUNTER ATTACK Attack enemy who damages you w/o wasting a turn
  • COVER Little defense increase, protect others randomly
  • ENEMY AWAY Random Encounter Rate% down
  • ENEMY LURE Random Encounter Rate% Up
  • EXPERIENCE PLUS:
  • gives you 1/4 more exp. after a battle
  • gives you 1/2 more exp. after a battle
  • GIL PLUS:
  • gives you 1/4 more gil after a battle
  • gives you 1/2 more gil after a battle
  • HP<-->MP Swap Max HP and MP
  • HP PLUS:
  • raises HP by 25%
  • raises HP by 50%
  • LONG RANGE Same damage from both front and back row
  • LUCK PLUS Increases Luck
  • MAGIC PLUS Increases Magic
  • MEGA ALL "All" affect on all commands and magics
  • MP PLUS Raises MAX MP
  • PRE-EMPTIVE First Attack Rate% Up
  • SPEED PLUS Raises Speed
  • UNDERWATER Lets party breathe in water in battle w/EMERALD WPN
  Support Materia(can't be bought, but can be sold at mastered levels for the most money).
  • ALL Allows your magic to spread to all allies or enemies
  • ADDED EFFECT Adds linked Materia status to Armor or Weapon
  • ADDED CUT Attack at the same time attached Materia is being used
  • COUNTER Counter Attack with the attached Materia
  • ELEMENTAL Adds linked Materia element to Armor or Weapon
  • FINAL ATTACK Attached Materia goes into effect when character dies
  • HP ABSORB Take HP as the attached Materia damages
  • MP ABSORB Take MP as the attached Materia damages
  • MP TURBO Uses extra MP to increase power of paired Magic
  • QUADRA MAGIC Casts attached Materia's magic four times in a row w/o counters
