Ice Age made it's debut in April of 1995 and was the sixth set to hit the market. Ice Age was
originally supposed to be another game, Magic: Ice Age, but Magic: the Gathering sold so
much that the designers decided to make it an additional expansion. Play testing for this extra game
started weeks after Magic: the Gathering's debut. Of the sets before, Ice Age was the largest set containing
the same amount of cards as Fourth Edition, a set later to come. Many cards from previous sets were
used in Ice Age with different pictures. One thing introduced in Ice Age was snow covered lands.
Some cards gave these lands special abilities. Ice Age's biggest mark in the world of Magic had to have been the
card Necropotence. With this card came the all powerful Necro Decks. These decks ruled the
tournament play for several months and some are still used today.
