For those clamoring for PS One, here's the good news. A major national retail chain revealed that the PS One will ship on Tuesday, September 19, and that it will carry the same $99.99 priceas of the original PlayStation. The system is being released as a phase-out for the original design to the new smaller unit. While the system "officially" will be first available on September 19, stores will only order the new PS one when their previous stock is depleted. The system will be introduced as a substitute rather than a special order, and the original design will not be available again after the PS one is introduced. Part of that plan is the new version of the PlayStation, a smaller unit with a tiny footprint and possible portable capabilities called the PS One. While redesigns are nothing new in this industry at the end of a system's life, the new smaller PlayStation is an interesting development that has caught on like a riot in Japan due to its cutesy design. Whether that happens in America still remains to be seen.
