Hand Surgery This young man had an "accident" trying to put his fist through a wall in Fort Riley. As part of his treatment, the docs installed a plate to hold the fractured bone together. After deploying with us, he started to experience pain directly over one of the screws. These two pictures show various stages as we attempted to surgically remove the offending screw. That first photo shows Doc Schultz working on the hand; the second is of the hand after we were done. | |||||||||
Cracked Head One of the first bloody patients we treated was this young man. He was doing some weight lifting during his spare time when this happened... Since we didn't have a pull down bar for working the latissimus dorsi (back muscle), the guys made a homemade version with a bar, some cord, and a pulley. The cord snapped, and this guy pulled the bar with full force straight down on his head! The first picture is a shot BEFORE treatment; the second was taken AFTER treatment.
