Goku is the hero of DBZ. He was sent to Earth from planet Vegeta to conquer the planet. However, when a bump on the head erased his memory of his task,
Goku devoted his life to his constant training and protecting the planet. When his evil brother Raditz came to Earth, Goku teamed up with his long-time enemy,
Piccolo, and fought him. Goku was killed in the battle by sacrificing his life to kill his brother and save the Earth. While in the next dimension, he recieved
training from the mystical King Kai, and learned the Spirit Bomb and Kaioken techniques. Goku is revived by his friends with the Dragonballs, yet arrives late
to the battle against Vegeta. Goku easily defeats Nappa, but is beaten by Vegeta after he transforms into a giant monkey. Again, Goku arrives late to the planet
Namek after training at 100 times Earth's gravity. He defeats Recoome and Burter of the Ginyu Force, but is tricked into exchanging bodies with Captain Ginyu.
His body is badly beaten by Vegeta, and Ginyu and Goku return to their normal bodies after Ginyu missed with his change technique. Goku faces Frieza, and turns
Super Saiyan when he sees his friend Krillin die. He tries to give Frieza a chance to repent, but after several chances, Goku defeats him. Goku's next fight is
against Android 19, but is defeated after a heart disease strikes him. He trains with his son, Gohan, in the romm of Time and Spirit (Hyperbolic Time Chamber)
and fights Cell. Again, Goku sacrifices his life by teleporting a self-destructing Cell to King Kai's planet. Goku returns from the dead to fight Buu, and fuses
with his long-time rival, Vegeta to become Vegito. He is absorbed by Buu, but breaks out. He turns Super Saiyan 3 while fighting Buu. At the end he absorbs
energy from everyone and kills Buu with a giant Spirit Bomb.
Vegeta is a ruthless Saiyan prince. He came to Earth in search of the Dragonballs to wish for immortality. He kills his bodyguard, Nappa, after he is defeated by Goku.
Vegeta fights Goku, but after not being able to kill him on his own, he transforms into a giant monkey, and defeats him. His tail is cut off by Yajirobe, and he is defeated by a giant ape Gohan falling on him.
Vegeta defeats Kui, Zarbon, and Dodoria on planet Namek, and kills Goldo, Recoome, Jeice, and Burter of the Ginyu Force. He challenges Frieza, but is killed. He is revived by the Dragonballs.
Vegeta kills Android 19 by transforming into a Super Saiyan and using his Big Bang Attack. He challenges Android 18, but is defeated. Vegeta trains with his son Trunks, and allows the evil Cell,
to become complete. He is badly beaten by Cell, but destracts him long enough for Gohan to prepare a giant fireball. Vegeta fights Buu, and fuses with Goku to fight him. After unfusing and being beaten,
Vegeta finally admits that Goku has always been better than him.
Gogeta is a fusion created when Goku and Vegeta properly perform the fusion dance. Gogeta's first appearance was in Movie 12: The Rebirth of Fusion. Goku and Vegeta's first attempt at fusing was a failure, because Vegeta performed it incorrectly. If the fusion dance is done incorrecly, it has consequences on the fighters, making the two assume a weak body(that is usually either fat or skinny)for the deration of the time they are fused.
The Gogeta body, like all fusions done by the dance, last only a hlaf an hour. At the end of the movie, Goku and Vegeta correctly fuse into the very powerful Gogeta, and easily defeat Janemba. Gogeta does not appear in any episodes of DBZ, but SS4 Vegeta and SS4 Goku fuse into SS4Gogeta in GT to battle the Evil Shenlongs.
The second fusion of Goku and Vegeta occurs during the Buu Saga. Using the Porta earings, Goku and Vegeta fuse to become the super strong Vegeto. Unlike the Gogeta fusion, which lasts only 30 minutes, this fusing with the Porta earings lasts forever. Vegeto beats up Buu for a bit, but then gets absorbed by him, causing the form to be broken. Vegeto does not appear again in DBZ or GT.
Gohan is Goku's and Chichi's first son. He begins the show as a timid baby, and he and Goku go to the reunion at the Kame House. Gohan is kidnapped by Raditz, and locked in a pod. He bursts out, showing his true power level, and tackles Raditz, saving his father's life. After being orphened from his father,
he is kidnapped by Piccolo and left in the dessert alone for months. He trains with Piccolo, and when the Saiyans arrive, he is too afraid to fight until his mentor sacrifices himself and the Dragonballs to save Gohan. Gohan is told by his father to transform into a giant monkey. He squishes Vegeta, and again saves his father and the planet.
Gohan heads off to Namek with Krillen and Bulma to find a new set of Dragonballs, He recieves a power up from Goku, but he is still beaten by Recoome. He fights Frieza many times, but does not hurt him badly. After the Frieza fight, Gohan trains with Goku and Piccolo for three years to prepare for the the androids. However, instead of actually fighting
17, 18, 19, or 20, he has to take Yajirobe and Bulma to her house. He then returns to the Kame house, and when Goku recovers from hie heart virus, he takes Gohan to the hyperbolic time chamber and he attains the level of a Super Saiyan. Gohan then takes part in the Cell Game, and while there, he befriends Android 16. Gohan accends to SS2 when Cell kills
16, and he single handidly defeats the Cell Jrs. With the help of his dead father's support, Gohan destroys Cell. As he grows up, Gohan attends Orange Star high school, where he meets Mr. Savage, Videl, Hercule's daughter, and dates her. When Videl gets beaten up by a mysterious man named Supubobiehi, he turns SS and confronts him. Gohan's energy is stolen,
and used to reveal the evil Buu. Also, Gohan and Videl become the Great Saiyamen team, and they defend the city from crime and danger. Gohan teached Videl to fly so that she can be a better fighter. During the Buu fight, Gohan trains with Kaioshin, using the legendary Zet Sword. He fights Buu, but is absorbed. At the end of DBZ, Gohan marries Videl, and the two have
a daughter Pan.
Videl is first seen as a classmate of Gohan. She becomes suspicious that he is the Great Saiya-man, and eventually discovers his secret. She learns how to fly from him, and actually becomes a pretty strong fighter, entering the World MArtial Arts tournament(before the Buu saga). She joins Gohan in his crimefighting job as the Great Saiya-man 2. At the end of DBZ, she marries Gohan, and in GT, their daughter Pan is one of the main characters.
Goten is Goku's second son. He trains with Gohan and his best friend Trunks. Gohan is shocked when Goten reached Super Saiyan at age 6. When Goku returns to Earth he teaches Goten and Trunks the fusion dance, and the two fight Buu as Gotenks. They have an extremely high fighting power, but they are too cocky to properly focus it, and they are absorbed by Buu.
Chibi Trunks is first introduced in to the show at the beginning of the Android Saga. By the time the Buu Saga comes along, he is 7 years old. Trunks became best friends with Goku's son, Goten, and the two become inseperable.
Trunks achieves the level of Super Saiyan at a very early age, shocking even his father! Trunks and Goten are taught how to fuse, and to fight Buu, they become Gotenks, an incredibly strong fighter. Trunks is a bit spoiled inheriting
the wealth and respect of his grandfather's Capsule Corporation. He loves to show of his new expensive toys. He is not as strong as his future self that appears during the Cell Saga, because Chibi Trunks' life is nowhere near as difficult
or horrible as Future Trunks'. Trunks has a deep admiration for his father. He believes that Vegeta is the strongest fighter ever... even stronger than Goku!
Future Trunks arrives in a time machine to Goku's time, to warn him about the incoming androids. He finds the Cyborg Frieza, and easily kills him and his father, King Kold. He predicts Goku's arrival and tells him that the androids are coming. He also tells him that he will die of a heart virus, unless he takes special medicin.
Trunks gives Goku the medicin, and tells him that he is Vegeta's and Bulma's son.
Trunks' time consists of fear and anger, and he had to witness the death of his best friend and trainer, Gohan, by 17 and 18. Trunks kills the androids in his time after returning to his time machine. He returns to Goku's time, and realises that not only 17 and 18 are stronger in Goku's time, but that there is a third android, 16.
Trunks trains with his father, Vegeta, in the hyperbolic time chamber. He then goes to fight the monster that has been terrorizing the Earth; and android names Cell. While training, Trunks accended to Ultra, or Accended Saiyan, not knowing that the huge muscles slow him down drastically. He fights in the Cell Game and is killed by Cell.
When revived, he returns to his future, and kills the Cell of his time.
The fusion of the two child warriors, Goten and Trunks, is also a powerful one. The two are taught the fusion dance by Piccolo, and, like their fathers, perform the fusion incorrectly the first time, causing a skinny version of Gotenks. However, when they perform it correctly, they assume a powerful form. Gotenks fights Buu, and(for some reason) is able to reach SS3, a level only reached by Goku himself.
Gotenks fights Buu, and could have beaten him, if only they were'nt so cocky with their newfound powers. They are absorbed by Buu, and freed by Goku and Vegeta. Gotenks appears in the Buu saga, and in a few of the DBZ movies.
Krillen is a long-time friend of Goku's. They trained together at the Kame House with Master Roshi, and competed with him. By the end of their training, however, the two were best friends. Krillen first appears in DBZ for a reunion of the Dragonball gang. However he is smacked around by Goku's evil brother, Raditz, and is unable to help Goku in his fight.
To prepare for the Saiyan battle, Krillen trains at Kami's place. He survives the battle, and heads off to planet Namek with Gohan and Bulma. He recieves a powerup from Guru, the eldest Namek, but is still defeated by Recoome of the Ginyu Force. He is killed by a fully transformes Frieza, and revived with the Dragonballs.
Krillen trains with Master Roshi and the gang to prepare for the arrival of the androids, but cannot help his friends fight because he is too scared, and also in love with Android 18. He recieves a device to shut off 18, but breaks it because he cannot bring himself together to destroy her. He tries to fight Cell in the Cell Games, but is defeated.
After Cell is killed, krillen marries 18, and has a chubby little girl, Marron. Krillen then grows a full head of black hair. He tries to stop the revival of Buu, but is turned to stone by Dabura and his henchmen. He doesn't take part in the Buu fight.
Piccolo began in DBZ as Goku's enemy, but helps his enemy fight the Saiyan menace, Raditz, and eventually becomes a good guy and valuable member of the Z fighters. Piccolo uses the Special Beam Cannon on Raditz killing him and Goku. Piccolo kidnapps Gohan and trains him. As he observes him, he begins to like him, and the two become good friends.
Piccolo fights the Saiyans, but is not strong enough to defeat Nappa, and sacrifices himself to save Gohan's life. While in the next dimension, Piccolo trains with King Kai, but is not too enthusiastic about his eccentric training methods. Piccolo is the first one revived by the Dragonballs, and finds the beaten up Nail, and merges with him.
Piccolo fights Frieza, and does well until Frieza transforms into his third stage. He is hurt badly, but saves Goku's life by jumping infront of one of Frieza's beams. Piccolo hears Trunks' conversation with Goku. Piccolo trains with Goku and Gohan for 3 years. Piccolo loses to 17 and 18, and then flies off to Kami and merges with him. He flies to fight Cell, but is destracted by Cell so that he can retreat.
Piccolo then squares off against Android 17 in a fight. Their fight is interrupted by Cell, who absorbs 17. Cell makes short work of Piccolo, and he is saved by Goku and recovered. Piccolo watches in horror as Cell becomes complete. He fights in the Cell Game, but loses to the android.Before the Buu fight, Piccolo takes part in the World Martial Arts tournament. His opponent is Kaioshin, and he gives up out of fear when he realises who he is.
Piccolo tries to fight Buu, but is absorbed.
(KEY NOTE: In GT, Piccolo sacrifices his life to stop the Evil Shenlongs and Black Star Dragonballs.)
Yamcha was a former desert bandit, but became a good friend of Goku. He trained with Kami before the Vegeta fight, but was killed
by one of Nappa's Saibamen. Yamcha recieves the same training as Goku, when he died, from King Kai, but is not tuaght any special attacks.
He does not participate in the fights on Namek, but watches it all from King Kai's. Yamcha is found by Android 20, and his energy is stolen.
Yamcha also tries to fight Cell in the Cell game, but is beaten. In the Buu Saga, Yamcha is eaten by Fat Buu, but revived after the battle.
Tien is a martial artist and former assassin. In Dragonball, he fought Goku and tied him at the World's Martial Arts tournament. Tien's goal in life was always to surpass Goku in Dragonball, but the two become friends in Dragonball Z. Tien trains on Kami's lookout for a year to prepare for the Saiyans. When they arrive, Tien is badly beaten up by Nappa, but uses every bit of his power to try and stop the brutal Saiyan. He is killed by Nappa, and trains with King Kai on his planet. Tien watches the Frieza saga from King Kai's place, and he is revived by the Earth dragon. He trains with Chiaotsu for 3 years before the Androids arrive, but he leaves his old friend behind because he thinks he isn't powerful enough. Tien is one of the strongest of the Human fighters, and Tien does his best to try to stop Cell from absorbing Android 18. He uses all of his energy to attack Cell, but is not successful in destroying him. The Cell Saga is the last time we see Tien fight in a major battle.
Chiaotzu, the young emperor, is the sponsor of the World Martial Arts tournament in Dragonball. He is best friends with Tien, and the two always are seen together. He trains with Kami for a year to prepare for the Saiyans, and uses a Kamikace attack on Nappa, killing himself. In the next dimension, he trains with King Kai,
and watches the Frieza fight from King Kai's planet. He is wished back after, and trains with Tien for three years to prepare for the androids. However, he is left at the Kame House.
