King Kai knew that Goku possessed incredible strength , and the techniques that he taught Goku are used all through the series. King Kai watches over almost all of the major fights in DBZ, and his ability to allow people from the other world to talk to people in the living world also comes in handy, allowing Goku and Piccolo to communicate to Gohan in the other world and give him advice. In the Cell Saga, King Kai's planet is destroyed when Goku teleports the imploding Cell to his small planet, killing Goku, King Kai, Bubbles and Gregory. King Kai and Goku travel to the Other World fighting tournament, which Goku wins, impressing his old master. King Kai appears in DBZ only.
