Cloud first meets Aeris after his first mission. Lots of people are running around and accidently bang into Aeris. Cloud makes some conversation with her (you can decide wheather he should be nice or mean, you better be nice guys!!) and then walks off. Later on, Cloud comes crashing through the ceiling of an abandoned church and guess who's there helping him come to! It's Aeris ^^. Anyway, they talk and she takes care of her flowers (the only flowers that will grow in Midgar) and then Reno of the Turks comes in. Aeris quickly highers Cloud as her bodyguard and says she'll pay 'im by going on a date with him, heh.
[Personality]
Aeris has a really bright personality, and she hardly gets mad (except for that one time if you go on a date with her at Gold Saucer and screw up the play, then she gets REALLY pissed). She's always there helping Cloud and the others along the way, even though like most of the characters in your group she doesn't have to be there with them. Her and Tifa actually get along decent,too (sorry guys, no catfights over Cloud). Some people enjoy making fun of her, which i don't understand. I guess those are the kind of people who make fun of people who are actually nice. Aeris is one of my favorite characters in the game.
Aeris' attacks are weak, but she's very strong with magic. Her Limit Breaks are also helpful to the team because they are mostly healing or protection stuff.

Argh, another long secrets section, oh well, it's been coming to me since i didn't have to write much of it in the Tales of Destiny section. Aeris' real parents are Professor Gast (they might have mentioned him a couple of times during the game) and Ifalna (who was the last Cetra before Aeris was born. Aeris herself is actually one of those Cetra/Ancients that are talked about through the game. She can hear the Planet's cries and is very in tune with it. She also decides that she should be the one to stop Sephiroth and Jenova, because she is the last Cetra and only one who can pray for Holy. Holy is the only thing that can nuetralize Meteor and ultimately decide the fate of people on the Planet. Aeris goes to the City of the Ancients by herself. You have a little work cut out for you in finding her, but that City is one of the coolest places in the game. When you get there, Cloud is controlled by Jenova, and made to strike down the praying Aeris, but is stopped by whoever else you have in the party. There is a FMV at this point, which shows Sephiroth coming down from someplace high up, and shoving his sword through Aeris' back. The white materia that her mother gave her (and that is used to pray for Holy) fell out of her ribbon and slowly fell down the steps into the water, her theme playing in the background. ANY INSENSITVE JERK THAT I FIND THAT DID NOT FIND THIS PART THE LEAST BIT SAD, I AM SO ^&#@$ GOING TO KICK YOUR %^$#@^% ASS! I have to admit, I wasn't crying until the FMV after the Jenova battle where Cloud takes Aeris' body and puts it in the water. Then it finally struck my thick head that "Aeris ain't coming back". A lot of parts after that in the game were a blur because I wasn't paying much attention. At some points, certain characters say that they kind of felt like she was still there with them. In the ending sequence where Cloud is in Lifestream, you see a hand come out of it and reach for Cloud, who in turn reaches out for it too. This is all interupted by Tifa who is reaching out for Cloud who is about to fall in a very large pit. Unless you are really really dense, you have to have figured out that that hand was probably supposed to be Aeris'.
