You first find Emeralda in the Ethos Dig Site, where she is abducted by Bishop Stone. She is taken to Krelian, who uses her in his experiments to find out about nanotechnology. Later on you have to fight a brainwashed version of her. After she is defeated she returns to normal and mistakes Fei for her creator, Kim. She and Elly don't get along too well at first, especially since Emeralda insults her.
[Personality]
Emeralda is a little kid when you get her. She is very attached to Fei, and resents Elly for liking Fei as well. Emeralda herself is a colony of nanomachines, which are cell-like things. This gives her the ability to change her body parts into weapons, such as her hair into a hammer, her arm into a drill and her foot into an anvil. She is one of my favorite characters, plus her Gear kicks ass.
