You first see Irvine when you go to Galbadia Garden. He's assigned as your sharpshooter for Edea's assassination.

Irvine proclaims his love to all the girls in your party -.-;;;. If you let him pick the group for the trip to the General's mansion, he'll pick Rinoa and Selphie. If you choose to say that's ok, Squall will go "whatever, I hope you have a good time". Selphie and Rinoa will take that as an insult and they both grab Irvine's arms and walk off. Quistis then grabs Squall's arm and mocks what the other girls do while Zell does a sweatdrop kind of thing. You'd have to see the scene to really appreciate it -.-;;;. Anyway, Irvine loves to be around the women, and will act all cool until under pressure.
Same old stuff, good attacks, decent magic. His best limit break can do about 40,000 damage, but you need special ammo.
