Vincent, like Yuffie, is a secret character. You find him when you visit the Shinra Mansion basement. You have to figure out a bunch of clues, fight a boss and get a key to the room he's in. Then, when you open his coffin you have to talk to him a couple of times, then he goes back in his coffin. As you go to leave the mansion, he decides to join you.

Vincent is all silent, and when he does talk it's something really really intelligent that takes me a while to figure out. Hmmm..what else...well, oh i don't know!! This guy is really frustrating because he never talks!!.
His guns do good damage, as do his magic. His Limit Breaks are different from everyone else's, they cause him to turn into a monster (where you don't have control of him). He then can do attacks in these forms, you have to be careful, though, because some of the attacks can heal your enemies. Never ever use his limit breaks while fighting in the Battle Arena, or against Sephy.

When Vincent was a Turk, he liked this lady scientist named Lucrecia. One day, he found Hojo screwing her, and injecting Jenova cells into an unborn baby. Vincent tried to stop him but something happened and Hojo decided to use Vincent as an experiment. He attached the claw to his arm and made it so he would turn into those monsters. Lucrecia gave birth to the child, Sephiroth. Vincent was sealed up in that coffin for a long time, so no one really knows how old he is. Later on in the game you can find the spirit of Lucrecia in a cave and learn this.
