Judges have responsibilities such as moderating tourneys/tournaments, to assist people in rulings questions, and to run tourneys or tournaments.
To become a starting judge, e-mail me for an "Alpha" test. The "Alpha" test is a test for anyone wanting to run tourneys or to make rulings. If you pass the Alpha test with 80% or better, your status will change to Alpha Judge. Alpha judges have privleges like being able to run tourneys and make rulings. If you would like to become a higher level judge after you become an Alpha Judge, ask for a Beta Test a week after you've been an Alpha Judge. Beta judges can also run tourneys and can outrule Alpha Judges on rulings. Beta Judges need to pass the Beta test with %90 or better. The final stage of being a judge is Omega. Omega judges can overrule all other judges in lower status and might be asked to run tournaments(big tourneys) if I am not able to run a tournament. You must receive a 100% on the final test to pass.
As a Judge, you can run up to 3 tourneys a day of the format you choose(t1, 1.x, t2, or block). There should be at least 4 people playing in a tourney to be legal.
***Running a tourney***
There are several somewhat fair rules to running a tourney. When you make the pairings, you should ask for people playing if they are registered and let them play only if registered(so they don't mess up the ratings of already registered members). After declaring that you are running a tourney and have announced the format(ex, 1.x and swiss/2 out of 3 elimination), wait at least 10 minutes for 4 or more people to join with a T in front of their PWL nick. After the 10 mins or more, close the entries and check the ratings of all the participants. When pairing, try to pair people with similar ratings.(ex. 1000 ratings plays 1001 and 1097 plays 1095). If there are an odd number of people, you should give the person with the lowest rating a bye(automatic win). If two or more people are tied for lowest rating, randomly decide in an appropriate way such as coin flip and dice roll. The most important part of your responsibility as a judge when you run a tourney or tournament is to e-mail me the results of the entire tourney to me. To do that, find out who won a match against who and who lost a match against who. I will change their ratinhs after I receive your report. This is an example report of a tourney with 8 people:(* indicates that person won the match)
That tell me everything I need to know to change ratings based of what happened at the tourney. If various sources(multiple ones) that I know and can trust tell me that the results you told me were not true, your Judge Status will be revoked for a week even if you claim it was a mistake so please be careful :/. After a second time that happens, you will not be allowed to be a judge. This is sort of harsh, but I can't have judges that use their privleges to their own benefit by saying they won when they didn't etc. to their advantage.
