My favourite games besides Diablo (in no particular order):
1) Heroes of Might and Magic 3, The Shadow of Death.
A game by 3DO. The best strategy game ever! You can play with several parties which all have their own castles, heroes, buildings and monsters. You can have several quests, capture a certain castle, kill a specific hero, kill all enemies etc.
You need mines for resources and castles (or gold mines) for money. You need these resources to make buildings (buildings are made in castles), and per building you can recruit certain monsters. You need heroes to move the monsters over the map (heroes are commanders) and capture mines, slay monsters, battle other heroes, capture castles and way more. The heroes themselves can grow in strength, which makes it harder for an enemy hero to beat him/her. You need at least one town or castle to stay in the game, if you lose all towns/castles you’ve got one week to recover another one. A week looks much, but it’s a turn based game, and all heroes have limited movement per day.
The game offers you so much it’s impossible to tell you all the things you can do. You can set the difficulty, so if you’re good at it (like me, hehehe) you can play on higher difficulties. An extremely good game!

2) The Might and Magic series.
Another game by 3DO. (No, this is not Heroes of Might and Magic.) This is a RPG series, and a very good one! You can pick 4 hero classes out of several classes. In M&M 7 (the one I played the most recently) you can pick the knight, sorcerer, thief, monk, paladin, archer, ranger, cleric and druid. After picking four classes, you can pick their races; human, elf, dwarf or goblin. Each class and race has his/her own abilities.
With these four heroes you begin the journey. You are in a beautiful medieval world, which I love really much; beautiful landscapes, cool monsters, villages, castles, day and night rhythm and more. You have to complete several quests and kill lots of monsters in order to gain experience and levels. You can distribute skill points (become expert, or master in some skills.) You have lots of spells, ordered per page in Earth spells, Mind spells, fire spells, water spells and way more.) Each class can learn certain spell types, and some can learn spells of more types than others. Knights cannot learn spells, while sorcerers can learn several types, but not types like spirit and healing. I’m not going to bore you to death by telling which class can do what, you’ll find that out if you'll play the game. And I highly recommend you play it, because it’s one of the best games-series ever!

3) Need for speed 4.
A game by EA. NFS is a racing game. You can pick some of the fastest cars of the world, and race with them. (So you can drive with cars like Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porches and way more! You can choose with how many opponents you want to drive, and how good they are. You can also choose if you want traffic on the roads you race on. The tracks look very cool, and with traffic on, it’s quite realistic. (Although the acceleration of the cars is a bit over the top.) A very cool option is the hot pursuit option. When you choose hot pursuit, there are police cars on the road, and if they see you speeding, they come after you. To keep up with you in your fancy car, they’ve got Porches and BMWs as well. From time to time they set up road blocks or spike strips. In NFS4 there’s also a helicopter that follows you around, and tells the cops where you are. A very cool game for every car addict (like me.)

4) Unreal tournament.
A game by Infogrames IIRC. (Let me know if I’m wrong there.)
What a great game this is! It’s an action (shooting) game. Several types of weapons, and each of them can fire two different kinds of shots (with the left and right mouse button.) You play against intelligent computer opponents. Of course you can select their difficulty (the easiest is too simple, the hardest is pretty tough... several levels in between) You can choose between several game “missions” ; capture the flag in a team (very cool since you can command your fellow players), be the first to kill a particular number of opponents (you can set that number) or everybody may only die a particular number of times and you must last the longest, and some more missions. The maps are absolutely beautiful! If you love shooting games this is a game you must have!

5) Gabriël Knight 2: The beast within
A game by Sierra. This is a detective game (hell, as you’ve noticed I like a lotta different game types.) It’s about a series of mutilation killings in Southern Germany. All these people have been killed by wolves. You are Gabriël Knight and have to solve these murders. In certain parts of the game you play with Gabriël, in others with Grace Sakamora (or something), his help. Gabriël is busy with the murders itself, Grace investigates the history of Ludwig 2 since he seems to be somehow related to everything up there. From time to time the game is a bit hard, but if you look at everything you’ve found and discovered already, investigate everything you can investigate and talk to everybody you can talk to, you’ll probably see it. If not, search for Gabriël Knight2 on some search machines on the internet.
It’s a really cool game, and it gets even cooler the further you come. There are so many cool movies in the games, which makes the game even cooler! If you like detective games, this is a game you just must have!
