Item retrieval

When you get killed in MP, never leave the game! Choose the “restart in town” option from the main menu. Then go to Pepin for some free healing. Buy some big red and blue pots or big yellow ones, and fix yourself up a bit. Then descent to the level where your stuff lies on the ground. Here are some tips how to get your stuff back:

TOWN PORTAL 1
First of all, every time you enter a level, cast town portal. This way when you get killed in that level you can simply take the town portal down, so you don’t have to walk all the way back. Oh, watch out you don’t get killed near the stairs if you threw your town portal nearby it. Otherwise when you get killed, and descent, the monsters are already nearby, and that makes it very hard to get your stuff back.

TELEKINESIS
The easiest way to retrieve your items; just “teleport” your items into your inventory with telekinesis. Do this from a safe spot (like from behind a wall), and you’ll have your stuff back without any difficulty at all.

TOWN PORTAL 2
Take the stairs down, and walk to the mob that killed you. Cast a town portal near them. Then come closer, and activate all the monsters again. Then lure them away from your items. Walk back to the stairs (with the mob behind you) and go up again. Go back to town, and once you’re there, take the town portal down. You’ll be standing next to all your items. Get them. Then cast another town portal up there, and search for the monsters that once killed you. If it gets too hard again, just retreat to the town portal, and go back to town. You could also quit the game after you got your stuff back; it’s all up to you. Anyway, make sure you pick everything up you dropped!

A SHADOW IN THE DARK
Another good method is stealth. Keep all those items (especially jewels, because they’re not big) that decrease your light radius. Also keep some Infravision scrolls in your inventory. When you get killed, wear them, and use Infravision. This way you can see the monsters, but they can hardly see you. Take one step at a time, kill what moves (almost nothing will move, because they can barely see you.) Killing one monster at a time shouldn’t be too hard, if it still is too hard for you, use stonecurse. I’ve never used this method, but it seems to work.
