Khala Priests

Background and Philosophy:

The Khala Priests were founded by an ancient people who called themselves the Kora.  The Kora believed that the mind was the way to overcome your enemies.  They grew power on the planet of Uyhin near Bothan Space.  They believe that the god Potok gives them the power of the mind to overcome their enemies.  They believe that your Chi is master of your body and your Ki is the master of your outside influences.  They worship the crystals Urash(blue)- the body of Potok and Krydarian(red)- the spirit and Ki of Potok.  The worst thing however is to be afraid, it is denying that Potok will protect you, and you die because he wants you to.  They do not know of the Dark Side and Lightside of the Force, but they would be considered Dark Side more than Light as they believe in the swift vanquishing of their enemies.

The teachings of the Khala are an ancient cult in the galaxy.  They are about as ancient as the Hindi and Buddhist of modern day Earth.  They teach to love your neighbor.  A Seitch is a cavern where all Khala is taught.  The Priests and Priestess live in an inner Seitch, which the Initiates live in an Outer Seitch.  They bow to the High Priest or High Priestess.

In the idea of loving your neighbor, the Priests and Priestess are required to indulge in the Seitch Orgy, a time were all carnal desires and sexual tension is relieved.  It is like a sexual free-for-all.  The exact dates are only known to the High Priest or High Priestess.  The Seitch Orgy is only preformed in the Seitch on the planet of Horus.  The only catch is, none of them really remember what happened or whom they indulged in.

Another teaching is the use of technology is evil.  Doesn’t necessarily say the users are evil, just the use.  They will try to bend the will of the user, but they will not enforce their teachings to an unwilling person.  They will ride in Starships, but they will not fly one or use it’s weaponry.

Khala Priest’s Chants:

“I must not fear.  Fear is the mind killer.  Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration.  I will face my fear.  I will permit it to pass over me and through me.  And when it has gone past, I will turn the inner eye to see its path where the fear has gone there will be nothing.  Only I will remain.”

                      -  Ward 1 Against Fear - Spoke first by Huan Kros

“My Chi will protect my body and my Ki will destroy my enemies.  My enemies will not penetrate my Chi and they will not stand against my Ki.  All will fall before my Ki and my Chi will stand forever.”

                      -  Battle Chant 1 - Spoken first by Ghu Nuw

“May Potok enhance me to overcome my opposition.  May Potok not fail me in my time of need.  The Urash is my treasure and the Krydarian is my protector.  I shall not fear for my safety.  If I die, I will see Potok and I will know it is his will.”

                      -  Prayer 5 - Prayed first by Huan Kros

Important Khala Priests:

Huan Kros- the first spiritual leader of the Kora

Ghu Nuw- the first Khala Battle Leader

Buk Nwa- the second Grand Priest (first is unknown)

Lifestyle of the Khala Priests:

The Khala believe that only life made sacred by the Priesthood is sacred.

Any life or object condemned by the Grand Priest is to be destroyed, that means even if someone is telling the truth, they must be destroyed.

The Khala Priests live in almost total seclusion from the other Kora people except when the holy day, the 9th day arrives, then they preach to the people.  They always wear a toga-like garb, sandals, a conic hat, and a talisman with a gem inside.  It is supposed that either  a piece of the Urash or Krydarian are in there.  Which ever one is up to the Priesthood, but it will give +1D when they try using either a Chi power or Ki power, corresponding with the type of crystal.

Powers of the Khala Priests:

The Khala Priests don’t use the normal Force skills, but they use Chi and Ki.  They also have Chi/Ki powers, but those are very rare.

Chi Powers-

 Build

  Chi Difficulty- Moderate

This power may be kept “up”.

Effect:  This power allows the Khala Priest to withstand more damage, as they ‘build’ a more structural model of themselves.  It provides their Chi+1D to their Strength to most damage.

 Heal

Chi Difficulty- Easy for Wounded, Moderate for Twice Wounded, Difficult for Incapacitated, Very Difficult for Mortally Wounded

  Required Powers- Build, Mediation

Effect:  This power allows the Priest to heal himself one wound status.

 Mediation

Chi Difficulty- Moderate for entry, Difficult for exit

  Time:  at least 2 hours

Effect:  This power allows the Priest to tune his mind for a battle or negotiation.  All skill and Force powers are at a +3D bonus after exiting from the Mediation.  This lasts for half of the time they spend in mediation.

Ki Powers-

 Magic Missile

Ki Difficulty- Moderate; modified by proximity, within eye sight

  Required Powers- Psionic Bolt

Warning:  Use of this power awards a Dark Side Point.

Effect:  This power allows the Khala Priest to perform one of the most evil acts, other than frying someone with Force Lightning, and that is to shot them with Magic Missile.  This power does enough damage to take down a Starfighter.   It does their Ki dice in Starfighter Scale damage.  The victim may resist Strength.

 Psionic Bolt

Ki Difficulty- Moderate; modified by proximity(within eye sight) and relationship

Effect:  This power allows the Priest to attack the mind of his enemies directly.  It will do their Ki in damage, but can only cause unconsciousness, unless the damage is over 30, then they may be killed from exhaustion.  The victim may resist with Strength.

 Sense

Ki Difficulty- Easy; modified by proximity and relationship

Effect:  This power lets the Priest use the purity of his mind to seek his enemies.  This power is similar to Life Sense the Jedi use.

Chi and Ki Powers-

 Invisibility

  Chi Difficulty- Difficult

Ki Difficulty- seeker’s Perception or Sense

  Required Powers- Mediation, Build, Sense

This power may be kept “up”.

Effect:  This power allows the Priest to sneak about and listen in on secret conversations.  He is completely shielded from eyesight and electronics.

 Imbue with Khala

  Chi Difficult- Difficult

Ki Difficult- Easy, or if the target resists add their Willpower or Control

Required Powers- Invisibility, Psionic Bolt, Heal

Effect:  This is an unprecedented Force power, giving the wielder the ability to use the Force powers Ki and Chi without all the time and training to learn them.  It is a cheap way to go, but the Khala Priests do it in emergencies or if they find that the target is very strong in the Force.

*Other powers are unknown to me at this time, more may come.

Removing One from the Khala

Removing one from the hypnotized state of the Khala is a difficult task.  First, one must not have fully meditated on the Khala for nearly a week (which will drive them fairly crazy) and then must be either convinced the Khala does not exist, sexually arouse them, or ‘snapped’ back into reality.  This is the only way to pull someone from the teachings of Khala.  However, the ex-Khalaist is still able to use their abilities, but at a +1 step penalty.  The ex-Khalaist is now able to have a personality that fits them and will see the error of their ways.

It is nearly impossible to fake being a Khalaist, and it is impossible for one to return the teachings of Khala and learn from the book.
