Move 200: Counting Coins
Tauster's Study--Night, 12 Eleint 1374 DRAzrun and Daelen remained in Tauster's study while Blacky and Tauster talked and Arachne went after Aloysius. Blacky returned without Tauster not long after they had gone into the hallway. The coins cooled enough to be counted. As Arachne had mentioned, the coffer from the mines was not mechanically trapped, so it was opened as well. It was also full of coins. In addition to the coins, there was a platinum bracelet set with chrysoberyls, two emeralds, and a sapphire and two silvered flasks, each bearing a wave shaped rune, inside the chest. The third chest remained unopened.
Tauster opened the door to his study and motioned for Blacky to join him in the hall again.
Azrun picked up the bracelet and looked it over carefully. After that he went to the flasks and studied the symbols on them. "Hmmmmmm...."Azrun traced the rune and then looked over at the other items they had brought with them. He picked up the one spear that was magical and looked it over, "Hmmm, they runes are the same. I guess they were created by the same people. Maybe Tauster has something on this rune in one of his books." He put the stuff back where it was and found a seat.
After a moment or two, he looked over to Daelen, "So....how is it you wound up with this bunch?"
Even before counting, Daelen seemed impressed by the amount in the chests and let out a low whistle. "A man could probably retire and have food on his table every night with all this... as long as it's not mutton pie."
Azrun chuckled, "I remember the first time I was here....ugh...I only eat bread and cheese when I come into town now."
"Just the start of the worst string of luck I've had in years." Daelen said with a slight smile to himself. "I'd been looking to put my sword to good use and maybe put a few coins in my pocket while I was at it. How 'bout you?"
"Well, I joined up with his bunch at the beginning, the group has changed up quite a bit since then. We were hired to bring a chest to Tauster here. I guess Arachne, Aloysius, and myself are really the only original group members left. Jana, Blacky, and Echo all joined up when I was here the first time." He looked as if he was reminicing.
"Seems like a lot, but considering the expense of what we need done, I don't think it's enough." Blacky said with a frown
