Move 413:  Quaggoths All Over

Blacky finished the quaggoth that Aloysius had wounded with his magic missile spell, then turned on the tall quaggoth who was coming after him now. He gave the big one an axe wound as well. Dalgaer killed the remaining creature that he was facing easily, as it had been wounded by him previously.

Azrun was struggling valiantly against the quaggoth on him, muttering softly as he fought. The monster finally got the upper hand, however, giving the bard a wicked gut wound. Azrun collapsed to the tunnel in agony, hand over his profusely bleeding injury. Another magic missile spell came to the rescue, taking down the injured quaggoth before it could finish off the prone man. Echo appeared in the midst of everything at the same time.

Jana and Kanon moved to block the rear of the tunnel when Echo indicated more quaggoths were coming. Aloysius went with them, a little ahead of them in fact. Kanon cast a spell on Jana; a rosy red glow covered the fighter as he finished. A pack of quaggoths came into view, and the wizard took out about half of them with a fan of bright colorful lights. The remaining six or seven continued their charge. The floor was littered with the bodies of their kin, but that did not seem to phase the beasts.

Looking around quickly Kanon offered a quick glance towards Azrun, "I want to help but I will stay and guard the tunnel with you. Hopefully Renn is there to help him." He then drew his mace and shield and waited patiently peering over the top edge towards the oncoming monsters. As they approached he tried to lash out at the first beast that came to him and defend against their passing.

Dalgaer attacked the quaggoth before him and then ran to help Blacky after chopping it down.

"Stay a little behind me," Jana panted to Kanon. "Thay can't hurt me, not yet anyway, so lemme take the brunt of 'em." Jana met he charging critters with her sword.

"OH YEAH big guy! Let's see how you like some more of that!" Blacky yelled as he took a couple more swings at the tall quaggoth with his axe.

Aloysius let loose with a burst of laughter that could only be described as a cackle before starting another spell.

Azrun nodded briefly, "I'll be fine." He kneeled on the floor as he held his stomach.

Echo started casting again.

"URA IEN! URA! FAERADD GAERA!" Dalgaer yelled his battle cry as he attacked on of the quaggoth's fighting Blacky.

"Yes, you will be," Renn said from beside Azrun, "stay for a moment." Renn began to softly chant a spell.

Blacky dispatched the tall quaggoth while Dalgaer ran to help him finish off the remainder of the first batch of the furry creatures. Unfortunately, the gnome misjudged his strike against the remaining quaggoth, leaving himself open to a particularly nasty blow from the big monster's axe. The final webbed quaggoth tore out of his bindings, and Echo hit it with three magic missiles.

A quiet prayer was heard, and the gaping hole in Azrun's guts, though not in his tunic, closed up. A moment later, the rest of his wounds disappeared.

The rest of the group tried to block the rear entrance to the tunnel against the six incoming quaggoths. These seemed more inclined to fight with the first people they saw than the last group had; then again, there were fewer of them to go around. Two of them headed after Aloysius, but he took one down with a magic missile spell before it reached him. The other got to him, but the mage manuevered himself out of the way of its stone axe.  Kanon also managed to avoid any further injury, and he banged one of the two quaggoths that came after him with his glowing mace. Jana, still illuminated in rosy red and swinging even stronger than usual, cut down the other two quaggoths in a burst of fighting fury.

"Not so big now." Blacky said as the tall quaggoth fell to the floor. He swung to finish off the recently freed quaggoth, then moved to take down the one beating on Dalgaer.

Kanon stood his ground and lashed out at the quaggoth he just bashed keeping his composure and a stern if sweat lined face.

Dalgaer swung his ax mightily at the quaggoth facing him and called to Blacky, "The bigger they are... the harder you have to hit them!"  Then he laughed as he kept fighting.

Rather than demonstrating fear, the mage grinned almost welcomingly at the quaggoth attacking him as he began another spell.

His wounds healed Azrun stood and smiled. He looked over the situation and then began to cast a spell.

Jana rushed over to help Aloysius and Kanon with their opponents.

Echo backed up against the nearest wall, looking around cautiously as she moved.

Jana walked over and methodically killed the sleeping quaggoths.
