Move 415:  Sounding the Alarm

Tunnels--Late, Day 41 (Marpenoth 24)

Jana had one of the four still alive but unconscious quaggoths tied up, and Arachne was getting ready to start to work on it when Aloysius' voice reached their ears, "Prepare! Prepare! More en route!" Aloysius could not have gotten far at all based on the very short time he was away from them. Azrun met up with him in the tunnel as the mage and his magical images swiftly retreated back towards the rest of the group.

"Scotched that plan," Arachne's voice murmured, moving away from the bound quaggoth. "Jana, I guess you'll at least want to finish off the others -- unless someone thinks they'd be useful as hostages, though since our goal here is annihilation, I guess that'd be kind of pointless..." The voice wavered over toward Dalgaer. "Do you want to  fight as you are or would you like me to try again at clearing some of that up...?"

Azrun began to back pedal and then sprinted with the mage back to the fighter, "Well, well. The fun just never stops down here, does it? Jana, are you and Blacky still feeling tough? I've got a web available if we want to back on out of here."

"Don't know, I'll check." Blacky tried to cut himself on the arm with the edge of his axe. If there was space he tried to move to the rear of the group. Otherwise, given that he was entirely at the other end he remained guard in case more tried to push their way through the webbed route.

"I saw perhaps a dozen," explained the Aloysiuses, "and they certainly saw me. One went down another passage, most likely to summon more."

Kanon put his mace away and walked over to the tunnel where Aloysius had just come from. He stared off into the darkness to the limit of the party's lights and began to intone a long prayer.

"Oh, that's nice, we couldn't have just waited long enough to question these, we had to run lure more down here," Jana bitched as she quickly dispatched the sleeping quaggoths, murmuring her thanks to any who assisted her in the unpleasant task. As soon as they were all safely dead, she hurried to the front of the group to meet the charge. "Save the web, Azrun, in case there's more coming after this."
