Move 419:  Mopping Up

Azrun swung his quarterstaff at the slobbering quaggoth he was facing, but the creature pushed the wooden weapon away. It chopped into the bard with its axe with a howl. Echo had better luck with her dagger. It was a pretty pitiful looking weapon next to the large monster, but the already critically wounded beast fell to it all the same. Kanon's shining mace made contact against the quaggoth he fought. The dust devil did not seem to do any damage to it.

Aloysius boldly brandished a dagger against the smaller of the two tall quaggoths. His bravado held up well enough; he cut the creature across the chest. The wound did not look very bad, but he did draw blood. Both of the quaggoths took their weapons against the wizard and his images again. The remaining two copies of Aloysius disappeared under their blows, but Aloysius was been protected from any further harm, at least for the moment. Jana attacked the tallest quaggoth, hitting him once with her sword. She went in for a second blow, but the big brute deflected it impressively.

Jana growled and slashed at Bigger twice more.

The mage's confidence noteably decreased along with the number of his false images. He continued trying to hack the quaggoth in front of him with his dagger.

Echo moved to help whoever was closest to her, attacking the nearest quaggoth with her dagger.

Frustrated Azrun took another swing at the quaggoth in front of him with his quarterstaff.

Kanon continued to smash at the quaggoth in front of him.

Azrun, frustrated, took a hard swing at the quaggoth, making hard contact to finish the beast off. Echo hurried to help Kanon and cut into that quaggoth with her dagger. Kanon smacked the quaggoth with his mace, and even the dust devil seemed to get in on the action this time. Confused and enraged, the quaggoth blew his axe through the swirling mass of dust, spewing dirt all over the place.

Aloysius bobbled his dagger as the big quaggoth on him chopped into him with its two handed axe. Jana took a couple of good swings. The big guy tried to deflect them with its bracers, but it was unable to fend them off. It got in a hearty lick on her with its two handed sword before collapsing to the cavern floor

With Azrun's assistance, Echo and Kanon dispatched the quaggoth they were facing before it did any more harm. Aloysius made up for his momentary clumsiness by embedding his dagger in the quaggoth's shoulder while Jana cut it down with a final sword swing.

It was quiet in the cavern now, allowing them to hear the diminished sounds of fighting from the other tunnel, but the noises of melee ended only moments after their own.

"Everyone okay?" Jana asked, panting slightly, as she checked the bodies to make sure the qaggoths were indeed dead. "Let's go get the others," she suggested after cleaning her sword on a patch of dry fur.

Kanon nodded and put his mace away before following Jana back towards the others.

Aloysius glanced around at the motionless quaggoths.  "Aye, but some of these creatures are merely unconcious. . . . ." he began until he noticed Jana inspecting them. "They will need to be . . . . addressed." His face whitened at that suggestion.

He slid his dagger back into its scabbard and headed off towards the area where they had heard Daelgar earlier.

"I'll take care of it," Jana replied to Aloysius. She did so then cleaned her sword afterward on a dry patch of fur.

Azrun looked around at the the fallen quaggoth, "I wonder is there are anymore around here? Looks like we might have a few items to identify also when we get to rest." He followed the others over to check on Blacky and the other crew.

Echo picked up her thrown daggers while Jana took care of the quaggoths. "Do you want this big sword?" she asked, picking up anything the quaggoths had that she could grab fast before they left.

"Do either one of you have any webs?" Echo asked Aloysius and Azrun. "We ought to block off some of these tunnels if we can. Maybe that'll give us a
heads tart to a place to rest. We can come back and deal with the rest of this area after we rest."

"Prob'ly not," Jana replied, glancing over, "but I think Blacky uses one like that. Good idea."

Azrun looked to the tunnels behind them, "I have two web spell available if needed. Let's see what the rest of the group wants to do."
