Move 420:  Amidst the Quaggoth Bodies

Tunnels--Late, Day 41 (Marpenoth 24)

For the moment, the only noises the party heard was the noise they were making. The air was heavy with the smell of smoke, blood, and wet fur. Standing knee-deep in quaggoth bodies, they discussed whether to move ahead or to fall back. Most of them seemed to agree that it was time to rest, but nothing had been decided for certain as to where to go and if and/or how they should secure things behind them. In the meantime, they were treated to the extremely bizarre sight of Dalgaer interacting with invisible Arachne, which looked exactly like he was smooching thin air.

Kanon inched himself back up the wall and grimaced slightly as he looked back the way we came, "I agree that we should fall back for the time being. I have saved one major prayer for healing to aid us during the... night and the rest of my prayers are less than combative in nature. I fear I would be of little use in a fight."

"We should retreat for perhaps a couple of hours," suggested Aloysius. "We don't know where that other tunnel leads and that would give us a buffer in case scavengers start gathering. Echo should have no problem scrying from there," he added with a nod in the half-elf's direction.

Echo nodded in agreement, "Distance won't be a problem. We should try to find a place close by that we can secure so we can get some rest."

Azrun nodded and looked back the way they came, "We ready to go?"

"Let's go," Jana nodded. "I do think we ought to explore, but not with so many folks hurt and magic depleted."

"There was an alcove near our encounter with the first four quagggoth. I don't think we checked to see how large it was." Blacky said, readying to move out.

Kanon nodded as the others agreed and then prepared to move along with the group to the proposed campsite.

Renn opened one of his waterskins and wet his hands before he wrapped a quick bandage about the cut he'd received from one of the quaggoth's stone axes. "When we find our camp, I can ward the area, as I've done in respites past," the elf said as he pulled at the edges of the gauze and gave a satisfied nod.
