Move 427:  A Cavern of Dead Quaggoths

Aloysius voiced his thought that some quaggoth bodies were missing so it was decided to check out some more of the cavern system before looking in the pool. Echo decided to go scouting while the others waited in the cavern with the host of quaggoth bodies. She indicated a time frame and then presumably departed into the unexplored tunnel near the pool.

Jana waited quietly if impatiently.

Aloysius stood, arms folded, waiting for some indication of Echo's return. "I grow weary of waiting to see if those I care for are well or not," he muttered to himself.

"Tell me about it it," Jana grumbled quietly.

Aloysius gave Jana a quizzical glance.  "I don't think now would be a good time to discuss. . . " He caught himself, cleared his throat and looked nervously about at the walls.

Azrun looked up from his things and smirked, "I'm sure Echo will be just fine, you two. Give her a few minutes to do her thing."

Azrun took the time to double check all his gear, making sure it was all secure and accounted for. After a minute or two he began to whistle a quiet song.

Arachne's voice spoke up close to Azrun. "Are you OK?" she asked him. "You're still not entirely recovered from the last bout with the quaggoths and we don't know whether another crowd might be coming at us.  I think I should... I should do something."

Azrun smiled toward Arachne's voice,  "I'm ok, Arachne. A few scratches and cuts is all I have now. They'll be healed up in a day or two. You might need to heal someone else if we get into a tussle later today. I'm fine. I promise."

Kanon continued staring down the tunnel eyes fixed on the darkness. He didn't seem to notice the others speak seemingly more concerned with the progress of the scout.

Dalgaer waited patiently, his crossbow cocked and ready in his hands.

Echo's voice piped up after about fifteen minutes.  "There is another big cave, empty but something was living there not long ago. There's some blood and it stinks. A little ways down the tunnel past that, there's another pool to one side. The tunnel keeps going, but I thought I should come check in. I didn't see any quaggoths."

Jana started when Echo spoke then, looking relieved, closed her eyes and mumbled something to herself. She sheathed her sword and said in the direction of Echo's voice, "Okay, well, then we may's well all go on to where you stopped before."

"Sounds good, do we want to check out this pool first?" Blacky asked.

"Might be best to hit it on the way back," Jana suggested. "Don't want to let our intelligence get too old."

"The large cave seems as good a place to check as any," Renn said, he seemed to be
in just about the same spot as he was fifteen minutes earlier.

"I agree," said the mage. "For all we know, perhaps many of those we fought earlier were female, or even young for that matter. I know nothing about quaggoth beyond what Carmeneren told us. If there were others, perhaps they chose to remove themselves to another location."
