Tips & Hints
There is a secret level accessed through the Tree Zone Level Two: (requires the ability to fly/float) In the screen to the left of the normal level exit, there is a tall pillar of goo with row of coins to the left of it. In the upper right, there is a pipe entrance which can only be reached by floating. This leads to the secret level exit.
There is a secret level exit in the Hippo level, which takes you to the Space Zone, where you will get the sixth Golden Coin. To get to this exit, use the bubble from either hippo, and float along the top of the level until you get to the end. This exit is above the normal one.
There is a secret level exit in Macro Zone Level 1 which takes you on a shortcut to the Boss of the zone (Requires the Fire Flower). To get to this exit, search for one of the ants with a missile launcher attached to its head, on a platform with an area below it. Above the ant, there are four hidden blocks. Above them is a downward-facing pipe, its entrance covered by blocks. Use your firepower to destroy the blocks and enter the pipe. Continue until you reach this exit.
There is a secret level exit in Pumpkin Zone Level 2. You need at least a mushroom for this to work. Look for a spot where there is water, the 'talking heads' enemies overhead, and a hidden block in the middle. That is where you go down, instead of to the right. Follow that way until you reach the hidden exit.
There is a secret level exit in Pumpkin Zone Level 3. You need to be able to float/fly for this one. After you pass the third spot with the invisible blocks, you will come to an area that keeps sloping down to the right. Take a running leap from the topmost part, and float over to a hidden area with the secret level exit.
There is a secret level exit in Turtle Zone Level 2. You need to be small for this to work: Go to the first large open (dry) area after entering the water. There will be a tunnel in the left wall, concealed by pipes. Follow this tunnel to the secret level exit.
There is a secret level exit in Space Zone Level 1. When you get to the planet with a face, check for hidden blocks. There is a block to the left of the planet, with another above it, and so on. Climb to the top of the hidden blocks, then continue right until you get to the hidden exit.
In the last level, in the rooms where Mario must dodge those pounding hands, there is a trigger block for each one. It flashes once when you walk on it. Once you know where these triggers are (usually the second block after the pipe exit), you can avoid them and not activate the pounding hands.
Read the manual.

Easter Eggs
In the the secret level accessed through Turtle Zone Level 2, look carefully at your surroundings. Near the beginning of the level, there is a 'W' shape made out of unbreakable and breakable blocks. Break the breakable blocks to reveal the hidden unbreakable ones to get the shape of an 'M'. Each set of coins you come to for the rest of the level is in the shape of a letter or number, finally spelling out 'MARIO LAND 2'.
In Mario Zone Level 4, there is a curious
marking on the wall. It can be found in the first part of the level,
if you keep to the ground. You will come to a room full of coins, with
two spiked balls circulating about the room. To the upper left of the room,
in the centre of a solid wall, appears to be written 'N & B'. If anyone
knows the significance of this, let me know.
