In this section you can find a tutorial on breeding chocobos.
Before you start breeding chocobos make sure you have a lot of gil. At least enough to buy a lifetime ticket to the gold saucer, six chocobo stalls, and lots of greens and nuts. To start go to the chocobo ranch and buy three stalls. Now go to the chocobo tracks around the icecicle inn and catch about three chocobos then go back to the chocobo ranch and make sure at least one of them is wonderful. Now go to the tracks around Mideel and catch about three more chocobos and check at the ranch to make sure one of them is a great chocobo. Now find the chocobo sage's house, around icecicle inn and north crater, and buy ninety-nine silkis greens. Feed all but two to your two chocobos then give one each and make sure it has mastered all its stats. Now go buy a lifetime pass to the gold saucer if you haven't already and race your chocobos all the way to S class. Now go back to the chocobo sage's house but don't go in. Instead, run around in the grass around his house. You should encounter a large red dinosaur looking monster with 33,333 HP. You can steal a carob nut from this monster. Get in about three of these battles to get three carob nuts and take them back to the chocobo ranch and breed your two chocobos with the carob nut. Now you should have either a mountain chocobo or a river chocobo. Whichever you get, try to get the opposite type and gender next time. Just keep saving outside of the ranch, walking in and breeding. If you don't get the kind you need just reset the game and try again. Once you get them, race them to S class and max out their stats. Now, get another Carob nut. Save outside the ranch then go in and mate the river and mountain chocobos. If you don't get a black chocobo reset the game and try again. Do this until you get one. Once you have one get rid of the regular chocobo unless one of them is wonderful and the opposite gender of the black chocobo. Now hop in the Highwind and go to the islands to the north of the ranch. There you can find goblins. Steal a few Zeio nuts from them and then race your black chocobo to S class and max out his stats. Now, the moment you've all been waiting for. Save outside the ranch and then go in and mate the wonderful yellow chocobo with your black chocobo. Tada!! Now you have a gold chocobo! If not then reset the game and try again.
