My favorite opening is the Reti Opening. Its moves are
1. Nc3 Nf6
2. Nf3 Nc6
3. e4 d5
4. d4 e5
These arent always the exact moves. If black plays d5 as their second move, one most work around it and play d4. Keep this in mind, and this variation will do you real good.
A very common opening is the Ruy Lopez. It is very basic, but it is also easy to remember and quite powerful. It's first moves are
1. e4 e5
2. Nf3 Nc6
3. Bb5 a6
Another opening for white is the Queen's gambit. It is only a 2 move variation, but it provides a great advantage for white.
1. d4 d5
2. c4
The rest of the game will depend on whether or not the oponent takes the pawn. If they do, you must build up the center to compensate for the loss. After that, the white bishop can always take the piece back. If they don't take, you take their piece and their center will still be damaged.
