Jackson Gamers' Urban combat game
Mean Streets!
Created by John Switzer
This game was fought on Septemver 4, 2004 with home rules set constructed by the game master, John Switzer. He also made all the terrain and painted the figures. This was a great change from our downdy old 'Historical" games. The only thing that could have made it better, would have been air support for the Police. The words "Blue Thunder" kept running through this writer's head. Was I a policeman? Yup!

Main street, early on, showing merely a few young people having fun with guns. John's "Advertisment" for the game said this:
Description - It started off as a typical day on the other side of the tracks in
Sunnydale. The street punks, "gangsters", rednecks, bikers, bikini babes, and some Rastafarians and Yardies were involved in their usual gang warfare for control of the drugs and sleaze in Sunnydale. The cops were doing
their best to limit the killing just to the gangs and make a slight profit at the same time.
However, there is a new horror in town. They are moving slow, showing no favorites, and devouring everyone they touch. Will the gangs figure out what is happening in time to unite and save themselves?

The trailer park, with squabbling going on over some kind of spoils. Across the street, "Doc" Reuben is gaining command over the third group of zombies.

Police squad #2 has abandoned it's car in the street and has moved to the left, up Main Street, shooting at Zombies. All too soon, the zombies shuffled after the Police as they fell back down Main Street shooting as they went. Two of the police persons fired off all of their ammo! Where could they get more? Nobody thought to look in the squad car which was stuffed with ammunition!
In the background rival gangs are gunning and running on Second Street.

The third batch of disgusting zombies shuffles on cross street, intent on killing any live beings, then suddenly...
"Doc" Reuben, hair in Rastafarian dreadlocks steps forward, uttering VooDoo incantations. The decaying zombies stop, listen and follow his every command. They have become his private undead army!

An "aerial view" shows the bar, Police squad #2 in line in the street, just after shooting down a number of the zombies which poured from the factory. Several zombies waded into the cafe (Yellow structure with roof off) in search of...whatever zombies go in search of. The girls inside were armed, but had a hard time shooting the zombies. On the next turn, the valiant police charged with nightsticks and smashed the zombies.
The bar girls showed their appreciation with free drinks and all the replacement ammo that the cops could carry!

Back alley street fighters and low-life scum had it out on second street! No cops in sight - and none wanted by either side.

Doc" Reuben moves his zombies around the corner to the back alley, out of sight of the police. What monstrous evil does he envision, with this force of undead followers?

Doc" Reuben leads his zombies down the back alley headed in the direction of the Garfield Yardies. After allowing the zombies (with the support of his still-alive boys) to beat up on the Yardies, "Doc" turned them loose on the police. Moving slowly...like zombies... they followed as the police backed into a looted building.
Unknown to the mindless zombies, it was a trap, set by the police. One squad of Swat troopers occupied the building, firing as fast as they could. Bill Estes' SWAT team Hammer fired through the windows into the room occupied by the zombies. At the same time. Police Squad #2 blocked the alley on the other side of the building, firing through those windows, and finally leapt into the room with drawn night-sticks, and hammered the remaining three zombies into goo.

Police squad #1 shows off for the girls by the pool at the trailer park. A bad biker took a shot at the cops and they reacted with "Pride, Integrity, and Guts". Some squad members even jumped on top of the squad car for a better shot at the bikers.
Unfortunately, Police Squad #1 had the worst luck in the world. They could only shoot one man with their service pistols, and when they rushed in with night sticks, the bikers cleaned their clocks with pool cues and bike chains. One policeman staggered from the trailer park which was held by the bikers till chicks in bikinis with guns cleaned out the riff-raff later in the game.

Afterview of the action between the Bikers and Police Squad #1. A group of girls with guns is about to put the hurt on the bikers. Dead policement litter the area around the pool. Police Squad #2, at the top of the image, in the street, has found an intact Doughnut stand and so lets the action in the trailer part proceed while they "refuel".

Zombies pour from the factory building after the earth cracks open under it. This was the original group of 20 in about the center of town. They entered the game on turn 3. Later more zombie groups entered, one at the Northern end of Main street and one on cross street, to the south.
Enough Already! Who won the freaking game?
Well, all I can tell you is what each player totalled his own victory points up to be:
