Bayou Wars
Gaming convention in Metaire LA, June 7-9, 2002
The Jackson Gamers were well represented at this annual gaming convention in Metaire LA (Next door to the 'Big Easy' for those yankees among you).

A shot of players during Larry Reeves' 15mm Napoleonic Battle. The ugly gamer in the red shirt is Jay Stribling. The almost-obscured gamer behind him is Bill Estes. Fred Diamond is shown in the right rear corner of the image. The other gamers shown, while nice guys, are not Jackson Gamers.

Another shot of players during Larry Reeves' game. Prussian players Jay Stribling (in red shirt) and Fred Diamond (in cap) discuss strategy, while the Russian player in the corner does Russian stuff.

The Jackson Gamers played in several other games, all enjoyable!

Jim Pits, running the "Tromp's Farm" game, ably assisted by Fred Diamond (on the right). This was a good-looking and quite popular game.

Tim Latham laughs off a bad die roll! As with the above photos, this was during Jim Pitts' game.

Dwayne Balius, in dark shirt on left, a long-time friend of the Jackson Gamers, runs a 25mm WWII skirmish game with very nice buildings and figures. He used the Jackson Gamers' WWII skirmish rules.

The Circus Maximus chariot racing game. This was probably the single most popular event in the convention. Jackson Gamer Sean Pitts (not shown) survived a race (no mean feat!) coming in 4th - on foot after his chariot disintegrated. This was a real demolition derby with charioteers losing their chariots and mainly being trampled to jelly under the hooves of the racing teams. A real Ben-Hur kind of fun.

A great snow covered battlefield for a winter 20mm game during the Battle of the Bulge. I do not remember which group ran this game.
