"Fill me up with promise. Touch my eyes so I can see. The tears have dried the clouds have broken. Come to me. Fill my body with innocence. Come lay your head on my pillow. Test my strength over and over. Til I'm weak. Won't you make me weak."

Chapter 6 From the Ashes

Kazuya and Jun stood outside Michelle’s cabin. Moonlight shone in her hair. Bathing them both in its light. She seemed to be smiling down at them. He remembered Michelle told them her people call the moon Grandmother Moon. She watched over her people every night from her place in the sky. A cool night breeze ran through Kazuya. It startled him with its caress. He shivered.
Both were holding the tea Julia had made for them. Kazuya smiled at that. He was surprised by the fact that Julia could make tea. The proper way, the Japanese way of making tea. He wondered why Michelle taught her that. He smiled with the memory. Julia looking so surprised and embarrassed. She fled from their presence. He smiled down at Jun. She stood there unaware of his thoughts.
They stood together as if no one but them existed. Standing in silence. Just enjoying the moment together. Standing there as if they always stood together in the darkness. He could hear the night sounds. An owl hooted in the dark night. A wolves howl cut through the semi-silence. Kazuya frowned unused to hearing Nature’s song. Jun caught the frown out of the corner of her eye.
"Kazuya." Her soft voice carried to his ears. "Is something the matter?"
"No Jun. just not used to hearing the night sounds." He answered her. He saw her frown. "I have lived in the city so long. I have forgotten what the night sounds like." Kazuya inhales deeply. "The air is lighter here. No pollution in the air to mar it." He turns to Jun. touching her face, gazing into her eyes. "I never wanted to leave you alone. I, it might sound strange to hear me say this. I had some misgivings that my Father." He spat the word out as if it tasted foul in his mouth. "Would find out about us and Jin. I did not wish to bring either of you any danger. So I took the cowards way out and let you think I was dead." His voice stopped. He turned from Jun.
She reached for his arm. Stopping him from leaving her side. She felt his body shaking from the emotions she felt him suppressing within himself. She felt his sadness washing over him. His regrets of not having been there for her and Jin. She sighs.
"I never believed that you were dead. You gave yourself away." She smiled slightly. "You made sure that we were taken care off." She paused gathering her thoughts. "I noticed that my account never went down. No matter what amount I took out of it. Money was always in it. It was like." She paused again. "I don’t know how to describe it."
Jun turned away from him. Looking out in the darkness. Listening to Nature’s music. It was soothing to hear. Her thoughts running ahead of themselves. She sighed in contentment the sounds of the night soothed her freeing her thoughts. She could smell the scent of the man standing next to her. Kazuya’s musky scent was caught in her nostrils. She remembered that scent. She remembered him.
"Kazuya tell me what happened. I need to understand." She turned him around to face her once more. "I understand why you did not wish to endanger Jin’s and my safety. Your Father would have taken his revenge on us. If he would have known about Jin when he was a child, he can accept Jin now. For he has proved his strength. He is a child no longer. To him Jin is a warrior." Jun smiled at Kazuya, laughing a little. "Though he gave your Father the scare of his life. For he looks so much like you. He has your temper. Your families gift, the fatal lightning. Which seemed to surprise your Father. It shouldn’t have. But it did. For all of you have that gift."
She looks up into Kazuya's eyes. Seeing the hurt within them. The frightened look that she could only see. She ran her fingers along his jawline. Seeing his mouth curve into a smile. A smile that she was the only witness.
"No regrets Kazuya. We will start from now." Jun smiled at her soulmate. "You and Jin need to get to know each other." She paused. "Only this beloved. I will not allow you to go on the same path as your Father. You and Jin are not going to hate each other like that. I cannot let that happen. You cannot let that happen Kazuya."
"I know Jun." He looked deeply into her brown eyes. "I promise you that I will not harm Jin. I want to get to know him. If he will let me that is."
"He will." She smiled again. "I remember a little boy who wanted to know his Father. He will. Believe me. He will Kazuya."
