Rockman and Forte Walkthrough

This game is wicked. Too bad Capcom only released it in Japan on the Super Famicom (Snes)! They really pushed the limits of the 16-bit age in 1998, a few years after the Playstation and N64 came into play. Thanks to emulation, we get a nice translation here in the States. This game is commonly refered to as Megaman 9 on emulation sites, but it's not. There is no 9 in the title. It is a new style for the original type games. You can now pick either Megaman or Bass to play as in MMX4 and X5. Also they've implemented a sort of tournament style bracket boss system. You've gotta beat one of 3 bosses first to move to the next group, and so on. A shop is run by Auto, based on collecting bolts. There is also a sidequest to get all Dr. Light's data CD's back. They feature data and pics on all the bosses and heros from the 8 other games. Megaman plays just like in every other game, but Bass is a different story. He can dash, like Megaman X, double jump like Zero, and is the only character you control in any Megaman game where you can aim his gun. You can't charge it but it's like a rapid fire plasma chain gun. For the players who prefer the X-style gameplay, Bass is your man. There are some tricky bosses towards the end, such as Dynamo Man and the final form of King, who is your new ememy. Of course, good ol' Dr. Wily is behind the whole thing. There are 2 castles at the end, too. Personally, this is my favorite game in the original series of games. It's fun, looks great, and with 2 characters, there is 2 different challanges. I give it a 9.5/10. The only flaws are that you don't get to play as Protoman, and there are no real anime style cutscenes. As for what I think Capcom should do with this title in the States, I believe it'd be a smart move to either call this Megaman 9 here and release a 2-disk set with a long awaited Megaman 10 for PS2, or just call it Megaman and Bass and do the same with a Megaman 9. They could also release it on the Game Boy Advance. Anyway's fine with me.

(ABOVE)-You can be someone other than Megaman for the first time here.

(ABOVE)-Watch out! Beware the Metool!

(ABOVE)-This game features graphics similar to MM8 on the PSX. Pretty impressive for the SNES.
