SPEND SOME TIME WITH YOUR KIDS TO SEE WHAT THEY ARE PLAYING AND WHAT THEY ARE BEING EXPOSED TO, OR BETTER YET GET THEM OUT OF THE HOUSE TO PLAY OR AWAY FROM THE TV FOR SOME QUALITY TIME AT HOME.
As parents, we need to be attentive to what our kids are doing. Most of the time this is pretty easy. You drive your kids to a birthday party; you take them to school functions; you talk to their teachers; or you help them with their homework. However, at least one place has become increasingly difficult to keep up with. When your kids play games you want to know what they are being exposed to and what kind of implications game play might have to your childs physical and especially emotional well-being. Game ratings seem pretty vague at best and of course if your child wants a particular game, "Joe next door already has it" and "it's not that bad" you might mistakenly buy it for a youngster who has no business playing it.
To try and help parents conquer these ever present and evolving issues with children and games I have developed this page. It contains links to many pages I have created to help understand what kids will be exposed to for a particular game and websites to help clear some of the confusion about game ratings and so on. Also parents are encouraged to e-mail anything they want to share about a particular game. ALL reasonable input about the games will be posted so please share your thoughts and feelings about any particular game (especially ones I don't have any information about).
