There's a lot of rumors and heresay about "The Date." As you know, when Cloud agrees to be Aeris's bodyguard, the price is a date somewhere later in the game. Of course it is when they have to stay at the Gold Saucer. Now the rumor is that if you answer questions in a certain way up to that point, you will end up going on the date with any of the following characters:
AerisI'm not sure if you can get a date with any of the other characters or not. I have not experimented with this very much, although I have indicated in the walkthrough where there are questions or situations that may affect the date. Apparently the idea is that if you want to go on the date with, say, Tifa, then you should do everything in the game to make Tifa like you and do everything to make everyone else dislike you. An example is at the 7th heaven, when Tifa asks how you slept, you can answer with "Next to you who wouldn't" to make Tifa like you better and keep Barrett undecided; or answer "Barrett's snoring kept me up" to make Barrett really dislike you and keep Tifa undecided; or ... well I think these are the only two responses, but you should get the picture. As I say I have not experimented with this very much but it seems to make sense. I have even read that if you want a certain character to like you even more, place them in your party whenever you can, put them next to you, and have cover materia equipped every time to protect them. I'm not so sure about this one as I think answering the questions a certain way has more impact than this would but I suppose it can't hurt. Anyway if anyone has any insight please respond so I can VERIFY it and post it. Thanks and GOOD LUCK!!!
