Snively took second in command of his uncle Dr Robotnik,Robotnik had a small Badnik in charge before Snively called CrabMeat.Snively has always been smart like Dr Robotnik in machines,but he knew he'd never become better then Dr Robotnik,so he tried to take over.After Sonic supposebly killed of Robotnik,Snively got thrown into jail until Robotnik caught him wandering around Robotropolis.Dr Robotnik gave Snively a deal of getting revenge on Colin,the father who never respected Snively.
