Sonic Advance 2 Footage - 24th July 2002

SVTcc - New Deadline Details - 23rd July 2002
Fan News: As it nears to December... well, it is, isn't it? Not much, but neh... SonicAdventurer of SonicVerse Team is hard at work getting sorted for the year's first SVTcc (SonicVerse Team Comic Convention). The Sonic Stadium has been given new information, including a new deadline for comics that are wanting to get a place for the December event:

"...on the Comic Convention website, I took the liberty of adding a countdown timer for November 1st, the day when registration officially begins. What that means is on November 1st, I'd like to get everyone's link for their booth so I can set it to my predeveloped website layout. November is the month when things fall together, so when the countdown reaches zero, please be sure to have your booths ready and send them on over to me."

There you have it - if you want to show your comic to the world in the first online Sonic comic convention, then best get it sorted before November 1st.

Sonic Bowling, next Sonic Cafe game - 19th July 2002

New Yuji Naka Interview - 18th July 2002
Sonic News: XenGamers does an interview with Yuji Naka, lots of interesting questions asked:

XenGamers: We did not see any Sonic games at E3. Will this series be continued?

Naka: I think we're going to stop the “Sonic Adventure” series at 2 for the time being. We want to do something different for the next title in the series. We are working on a number of Sonic games now, including ports of older titles. We'll be able to announce these in the near future.

XenGamers: Will future Sonic games be platform exclusive (e.g. GameCube only, etc)?

Naka: No, we're not thinking in those terms. There is a good chance that Sonic will appear on a number of platforms.

XenGamers: How would you respond to comments that Sonic moves too fast in a 3D environment for the players to appreciate the scenery?

Naka: The player can slow down or stop and enjoy the scenery if something grabs his/her eye. I think Sonic himself doesn't always run full-tilt. I'm sure if he finds some nice scenery he stops to take it in. I hope players will do the same.

XenGamers: You released some Sonic sports games (such as fishing) for i-Mode cellular phones in Japan. Will you make any Sonic sports titles for the home consoles?

Naka: I get the impression that the Sonic sports games on i-Mode are pretty fun, so they may appear on other platforms. However, we aren't actually developing any at the moment.

New Game Genie Discoveries! The Key to Wood Zone? - 17th July 2002
Fan News: Stop the presses, and halt your heartbeat! The Sonic Stadium has the EXCLUSIVE that could well progress the evolution of the Sonic 2 BETA on Mega Drive! Behold - a playable version of Emerald Hill Zone, with different textures and Wood Zone style graphics. This may not look like much, but this can be the start of something special. This code was provided by fellow Sonic Stadium-ist and affiliate, Roareye.

How do you get to it? Simple. You need a Mega Drive of course (THIS CODE HAS NOT BEEN TESTED ON THE ROM AND EMULATORS, HOWEVER SINCE IT'S THE SAME GAME, IT'LL PROLLY WORK THE SAME ANYWAY), Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and a Game Genie, of all things. Using the Game Genie, Roareye was able to pretty much 'hack' into either a Beta Version of Emerald Hill (which may seem more probable) or, the beginnings of hot-on-the-heels access to Wood Zone. Roareye simply got there by accident, modifying the Game Genie Code to get to the Hidden Palace Zone. Here's the code to get to Hidden Palace:

Hidden Palace Cheat: Input this code in your Game Genie: ATLA-ATCY. Then start the game. Go to Options and do the Level Select (Play tunes 19, 65, 09, 17. Hold A, press Start. On title screen, hold A and press Start). Then in the Level Select, go to the Sound Test and play tunes 01, 09, 09, 02, 01, 01, 02, 04, 01, 02, 06. Select Emerald Hill Zone Act 1. Hold A and press Start. Pray as you see the Hidden Palace titles zoom past. No floors though, so press B as soon as you can. Whizz about the empty screwed up level at your leisure.

See that code up there? Roareye edited that Game Genie code to make up some crazy results. To access these, all you have to do is change the code to the one shown - everything else you do (like the level select, etc) is as explained above.

Emerald Hill (With Wood Zone style textures): ATLA-AECY
Emerald Hill (With basic textures & layout): ACLA-AGCY
Emerald Hill (With polished textures - no clipping): ACLA-ACCY

Again, this may look like nothing special, yet we're all excited about it. Maybe it could be the way further into the game. Maybe it's a dud. Whatever, you read it here first. ^_- More on this as it happens.

Official Sonic Mega Collection games revealed - 14th July 2002

First Sonic Advance 2 Screens - 14th July 2002

New Sonic Advance 2 Information - 14th July 2002
Sonic News: This is an article from IGNPocket reading the the latest Famitsu magazine about Sonic Advance 2 for GBA:

The three stages shown...include "Leaf Forest" (the game's first stage), "Hot Crater" (the fire stage starring Knuckles) and a third, unnamed stage featuring a musical design and an over-abundance of color (look for Tails floating through a pink wonderland.) No features were announced in the magazine's article (no word on if there's a link-up with the upcoming Gamecube Sonic game), but we do know that the game's speed has been upped from the previous game (possibly a very good thing, since Sonic's trademark speed was left at a cruising third gear for the last handheld adventure). Specifics on the developer were not given, but it looks like DIMPS has once again handled the design for Sonic Team on this one.

More SatAM DVDs coming - 3rd July 2002
SatAM News: This news comes from Sonic HQ:

Hello.
I was just over at FUS, and apparently, it looks as if there will be more Sonic SatAM DVD's on the way. Sonique Hedgehog had written a letter to DiC Entertainment's Don Gold, looking for information on the subject, and got this reply.
"Hi. Yes, there will be more Sonic DVD's coming. Hopefully by the end of the year."
She also went on to ask, for confirmation's sake, which series it would be from, either AoStH, SatAM, or SU, and Don replied, "No problem. From Sonic the Hedgehog." (SatAM's actual title)
Now, it is not known exactly which eps will be next for release, but I'd be safe to say that the eps from the "Hooked On Sonics" tape that was released as part of the original set of SatAM tapes in the Spring of 1994 will be involved somehow.
Well, that's it for me for now. Credit goes to
Fans United for SatAM for this information, and to Sonique for posting the story to begin with.
I'm out. See ya!

New Sonic games bound for GameCube, GBA (Corrections) - 2nd July 2002
Sonic News: The next installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and more are coming Nintendo's platforms.

Sega has announced that it will release the next installment in its Sonic the Hedgehog franchise for the GameCube. According to a representative from Sega of America, the game will be a brand-new addition to the franchise instead of a remake of the original Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast, as was first suspected. In addition, Sega is also developing Sonic Mega Collection for the GameCube and Sonic Advance 2 for the Game Boy Advance.

"Building upon the excellent worldwide sales and incredible success of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and Sonic Advance, Sega is determined to develop and release new titles in the Sonic the Hedgehog series that will appeal to the growing audience of gamers worldwide," said Tetsu Kayama, chief operating officer, Sega Corporation.

While no details on the games have been disclosed, Sonic Advance and Sonic Mega Collection are expected for a release within this year in Japan. Both games will also be showcased at the upcoming World Hobby Fair held later this month in Japan.

Sonic Team also announced that Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for the GameCube and Sonic Advance for the Game Boy Advance have shipped 1 million copies each worldwide.

NAoSTH Fan Cartoon - 30th June 2002
Fan News: This news was sent to me by Sambo, who does the mouseart+animation:

A Sonic fan cartoon, NAoStH is being created, it's been going on for quite a while but it's finally getting into animation. The episodes will be downloadable in .exe format with DVD style menus and features.

Whilst we test the animation, we will release short sketches, around 30 seconds long, to show off the animation and voice acting, and NAoStH (N stands for New) is a bridge between AoStH, SatAM and SegaSonic. AoStH was the only cartoon to ever stick to SegaSonic and not contradict it, so we have a new series with more stuff from the game, character development, and more accuracy to the game.

We have Sonic looking like his AoStH style, but with his SegaSonic hairstyle, kinda like Sonic Underground:

We'll be sure to keep you posted.

Rumors on the new Sonic Game - 28th June 2002
Sonic News: This article comes from the latest article of Electronic Gaming Monthly:

"Sega's blue, attitude-filled, sneaker wearin' mascot has gone on his last Adventure. But dry those eyes and buck up, lil' camper. He's not gone for good. Sonic Team is reportedly hard at work in Japan on a brand-new Sonic that will take the 'hog back to his roots'. That's right-no more freakin' searching for jewels as Knuckles. The gameplay will return to the tone of the original series, focusing on fast platforming action with no B.S. And to reflect the change in design, the game will reportedly drop the Adventures moniker it has clung to for the past few years. While a release date remains sketchy at this point, we could see see the first fresh fruits of Sonic Team's labor by the end of the summer..."

SVTcc (Comic Convention) - 23rd June 2002
Special Event: This article froms directly from Sonic Adventurer:

Hello, ladies and germs. This is SA speaking of the SonicVerse Team. I recently announced a big event that'll take place three times a year. It's an online comic convention called SVTcc. Of course, the name is pending upon it's first event so we'll see how that goes. But anyway, for those of you who want to get an idea, refer to the past few SAGE events (for those of you who are famliare with SAGE).

SVTcc will commence starting this December and from there it'll take place every March, June and December. Basically, this is an open event/contest that'll span for two weeks. Anybody who creates fan comic can enter. You are required to make your own booth (like in SAGE) using your own webspace (sorry, I'm not offering any due to the already many hosted sites).

All your booths will be linked back to the main SVTcc page under the booths section. When the event opens, people will come and look around. It'll be the biggest fan comic event ever with a GREAT sum of comics to look through. At the end of their reading, they'll vote for their favorite comics (by category) and at the end of the two weeks, the polls will be counted and winners will be issued with small custom awards handed out.

We already have Other-M, Shadow the Comic, Sonic Shadows, Christine Chong's comic and SU2 signed up for this event, to name a few. I'd like to see the Sonic Ideal, and others join in on this. You don't have to have a team, you don't have to have a comic series, it could even be just comic strips. They'll all be classified into categories.

In closing, I just want to mention that I'm going to be opening the SVTcc page tomarrow with instructions on how to sign up and details on the event. I hope that word of this reaches out to as many people as possible so we can make this event big. I'll announce the url of the SVTcc page tomarrow. Till then, sleep well people!

New information about the comic convention has finally been released. Go to the following address and bookmark it, because this is the address where the comic convention will be held:

www.svtcc.cjb.net

We already have comics enlisted in this coming event: Other-M, Shadow the Comic, SU2 and Sonic Shadows to name a few. I've heard of other's interest to join, but no confirmation yet. Christine Chong's comics may make an appearance there.

This page I just linked you to should explain all. Thanks for listening.

SSNG: New Site Emerges - 23rd June 2002
Special Event: We have finally landed on your screens! The Sonic Stadium News Group takes off, and promises a lot of coolness!

To all of you that have just visited, welcome. Launched on the date of 23rd June, which is Sonic's birthday, no less, this Sonic site is something special indeed. It is the result of months of hard work from webmasters Dreadknux and Sonic_Hedgehogs, after they decided that two of the most popular up-and-rising websites, The Sonic Stadium and Sonic News, should be merged together.

This is what you see here - two of the coolest Sonic sites, mixed together in all one package. Now there is no need to go to any other place for better Sonic information - Dreadknux covers the Games Reviews, and Sonic_Hedgehogs gets the general information sorted, while Fans can submit their own reviews.

But, there is a looooooot more hidden away within our walls than just Sonic Games. Oh yes. To tell about ALL of them would take too much space, so we suggest you find out for yourselves about the most of it - we have worked hard to innovate and to bring the best of Sonic into one website.

Some of the best bits you'll find at SSNG will be: The Interviews, where Sonic_Hedgehogs and Dread talk exclusively to the biggest guys in the Sonic Online Community - The Sonic Fan Club, which is the former Sonic Stadium's resident Fan Fair, now reaching incredible heights; no-one Fan Fair can hold so much: remember to submit your projects for the SFC - Downloads Zone, which includes the Music Zone also, where there's no better place for Sonic goods, and is updated all the time - Exclusive links with other cool websites such as SonicVerse Team and EspioKaos.com, which involve SSNG getting the latest midis from John Weeks (fantastic guy), and the exclusive-to-SSNG Sega Magazine, created by SVT.

Of course, there is tons of talent hidden between the two heads of SSNG to more than entertain you. Sonic_Hedgehogs is one of the most informative guys there is on Sonic and Sonic Team, and loads of new and innovative sections to SSNG will be made in the future because of this guy. On the other hand, Dreadknux is also a dab hand when it comes to innovation, as his recent track record shows - The Sonic Fan Club, Sega Sonic Radio, The Sonic Site Awards, The SAGE Exclusives and many more fantastic events will be made in the future, and are all the brainwork of Dread himself. Better yet, all of these are the exclusive property of SSNG. You won't find better updates between the excitement of that next Sonic Team game!

We're starting to leak all of the good surprises, so we'll draw this introduction to the website to a close. Be sure to visit SSNG's resident Message Board, The Sega Sonic Message Board where you can chat about anything, and if you want to you can Sign or View the SSNG Guestbook too. The first SSNG Competition, where you can win loads of Exclusive SAGE 2002 goodies is also going on - HURRY UP if you want to win the goods! Expect SSNG to be updated many times a week with little things as well, so don't worry about this place dying out with unoriginal stuff ^_^

See ya! ~ The SSNG Team, Dreadknux & Sonic_Hedgehogs
