"Sonic is back again in a massive 3D adventure, trying to save the world from the wrath of the space colony ARK. This is a huge step forwards, in graphics and in plot, but it is also a step backwards, and I mean that in a good way. The levels are more linear than the first game, meaning that you spend less time wandering hopelessly round a level and spend more time running around like an idiot, which is, after all, what Sonic is all about. All of the horrid semi- RPG bits from Sonic Adventure are gone, meaning that you don't waste any valuable play time on running about asking people about a load of things that you really don't give a damn about, just in order to get to the next stage. Yes, in true Sonic style, you are automatically taken to the next stage ( although, quite often, you have to watch a cut- scene, but they're good anyway). The story is so tight and focused, that, instead of letting you choose a character, they tell you who to play as! Dont worry, they get around the element of 'things happening at the same time' just perfectly, by giving each major event a time of occurance. This game also has a lot more to do after completion (because, apart from a couple of tricky bits, the basic story mode is kinda easy) than the first game, because, not only are there now 180 emblems, but there is an incentive to get them all- you get a 3D version of the Green Hill zone act 1 to play about in! The chao are now even more adorable, and even more complex and involving than ever before, too. There's the kindergarten, the extra gardens, the races, the different kinds of chao, the new VM mini game...... I could go on....... You also get a very nice tag team fight involving Super Sonic and Super Shadow in space against the last boss. OK, now, sadly, for the several bad points. In the cut-scenes, you can hardly ever hear what the characters are saying due to the loud background music. The camera is better, but still screws up sometimes. It is too easy to die in the last couple of levels. Here's the final verdict: If you like Sonic, you'll love this. If you hate, Sonic , you'll begin to wonder why you ever did. And if you play it right through to the 100% end, you'll be playing this for months and months and months."
