Dread and Andrew's collected information:
Sega Sonic Arcade is an arcade game that no-one outside Japan has a clue about, not even us here at SSNG towers. This was released on the System 32 Arcade Machine in the land of the rising sun, and never entered the west at all. The only machine seen working that wasn't in Japan was one spotted in London, although it was still just the Japanese version; no plans to bring it to the UK or US then :(
Well, where do we start on a game that little is known about? This could very well be the most unknown Sonic game ever, and most rarest. Up to three players can play at once, you can choose from Sonic The Hedgehog, Ray the Flying Squirrel and Mighty the Armadillo, which Mighty is also in Knuckles Chaotix and leader of the Chaotix.
The goal to each of the levels is to get to the end of each level, though no Badniks or enemies are around action stages, there's tough obsticles in the way of gameplay. Sonic and friends are controlled by the games Track Ball, and the only single action button is used to do the Spin Dash. You must use the Spin Dash button to jump over obsticles.
The picture shown below is what the controls of the game would look like, as you can see the track ball on the right and left on the controls.
Other things that kill you is if you stay still for while, and you must be careful to watch where your going, sometimes you'll get too carried away in speed. Some obsticles will bump you outta control, tons of obsticles all over the game board. The graphics are like Sonic 3D Blast but a litte more detailed, and was rumored to be on the Sega 32x System, but we reckon the system died off too quick to have anything done.
The health isn't like other Sonic games, with using rings and collecting them after you lose them. You must collect rings to replenish your health bar at the bottom of the screen. Kinda like Sonic Adventure 2 when your Tails or Eggman and you get a Chaos Drive, it replenishes your health a little to get Power Rings.
There are 6 levels of all, the first stage isn't named and the final stage is a mystery, maybe you need all 3 characters to access it? The following levels in order: An unnamed volcano stage, Trap Tower, Landslide Zone, Ice World, Desert Zone, and the final stage.
As mentioned above, from all the information and interpreting the available screenshots so far, SegaSonic Arcade was its real name, despite many who believed the title was Sonic Arcade Game. It featured Sonic the Hedgehog, 'new' character Ray the Squirrel, and another new character Mighty the Armadillo, who found fame in the US and UK alongside Knuckles and the rest of the Chaotix team in the UK Sonic The Comic, and Sega 32X game Knuckles Chaotix. Players controlled their character with Trackballs built into the arcade machine as the team fought their way through the levels to beat Robotnik. Looking at the screenshots, it seems like you could get two of your buddies dishing out the pennies too, for three player simultaneous action. Unfortunately, absolutely nothing else apart from what is on these pages is known about this mysterious game. Hopefully, when the emulated Sega Sonic Arcade ROM and Emu actually; a) appear or; b) work fast enough to be physically playable, Dread and Andrew can get some more in-game info of the Arcade game. ^_^
