Is the plural form of the word chao "chao", or "chaos"?
Q: If I give my Chaos Chao an animal, will it get animal parts?
A: No, your chaos chao will not get any animal parts, but the animal will still have an effect on your chao, status-wise.
Q: I can't seem to find my chao. Where could it have gone?
A: If you have more than eight chao per garden, one of the little fellas could have moved to another less-crowded garden. Check around carefully, and if you're sure your chao isn't in his/her original garden, go to the others and look around. You're bound to find your chao eventually.
Q: After my Chao dies twice, do I only have to give it one of each of the twenty-one animals to get it to metamorphosize into a chaos chao?
A: Yes. You can actually give it as many chaos drives and fruit as you wish, but you can only give it ONE of EACH of the twenty-one animals before metamorphosis. I suggest you keep a list and check off each animal as you give it to a chao so that you don't forget which animals you've already given it and which ones you still need to give to it.
Q: How do I get rid of a Chao I don't want anymore?
A: First, pick up the chao you want to get rid of and take it over to the chao Transporter. In the menu, select "good-bye". You'll be asked if you really want to get rid of the chao. After thinking over it for a little while (yes, you'd better think it over -_-), select "yes", and "yes". Your chao will then be gone from the garden, never to be seen again.
Q: In the Navigational Menu, what's the difference between "the looks" and "the chao"?
A: Well, since they've been combined, no one has to worry about the differences between the two pages anymore ^^.
Q: What are all of these flowers doing around my Chao?
A: What the flowers mean is that your chao has entered the mating "season". Just bring another chao around that is 2 years or older, and the two chao will begin a dance. You'll be left with an egg once the chao have finished dancing. Note that only chao 2 years and older can mate... and having two chao with flowers around them (*cough* heart fruits *cough*) guarantee you an egg if the two chao are placed near each other.
Q: How can I get my chao to wear a hat?
A: You'll have to give it a Skeleton Dog, first. You can find one in Knuckles' Pumpkin Hill stage, on top of Church Mountain. The Dog will be walking in the Pumpkin Patch.
Q: How many other planting spots are in each garden?
A: Four.
Q: Are there any other types of fruit besides the ones dominant in the Chao Garden?
A: Yes, there are. You can purchase square, circle, triangle, dark, hero, heart, and chao fruit from the Black Market (more items become available as you win Emblems). You can also plant certain trees that will yield various fruit. There are hero, dark, square, circle, triangle, tasty, and long-lasting seeds. Your chao can plant these seeds once it has won a shovel and pail from the races. The chao fruits are the best to give your chao to increase certain attributes. And the fruits that come off of long-lasting trees will increase your stamina meter by five points rather than four if your chao manages to eat the whole thing (you can always pick up the fruit and give it to your chao again). Then there's the GameBoy Advance. You can transfer fruits from the GameBoy Advance Sonic Advance game to you GameCube and feed them to your chao.
Q: Why does my Chao yell in my arms and cry when I try to rock him?
A: Uh... the chao doesn't like that specific character. It's just used to being cared by someone else. Either that or he's been thrown around, kicked, or stepped on a lot. To get your chao to like you (again), just give it lots of fruits, pet it A LOT, and... well, that's pretty much it.
Q: How do I get a Hero Garden? How do I get a Dark Garden?
A: To get the Hero Garden, you need to first raise a hero chao. Then a staircase will appear in the main lobby that'll take you to the new Chao Garden. For the Dark Garden, raise a Dark Chao. Another staircase will appear in the Chao Lobby. I think you can also get the two gardens if you import chao from another garden or via the GBA with the GCN/GBA link cable. For information on how to raise your own two types of chao, see below.
Q: How do I get a Hero Chao? How do I get a Dark Chao?
A: To get a hero chao, take GOOD care of it with hero characters. Make Tails, Sonic, or Knuckles feed the chao fruit, pet the chao, or pick the chao up and rock it. Do the opposite for dark chao. In order to get a dark chao, take GOOD care of it with dark characters. Rouge, Eggman, and Shadow should feed the chao fruits, pet the chao, and pick the chao up and rock. There is one other way to get either of the two chao: Throw and kick the chao with a type of character (hero or dark) to get the chao to turn into the opposite type of the character you mal-treat them with. Your chao will only OFFICIALLY become a hero/dark type after it metamorphosizes.
Q: What's up with the "Chao Kindergarden"?
A: The Chao Kingergarden is an area where you can drop off your chao for a few minutes to learn a lesson. Lessons range from dancing, to drawing, to playing one of many different instruments. Each class is available for half an hour, and it takes a chao 10 minutes to learn one lesson. You can keep four Chao in the Kindergarden at one time.
Q: Can chao interact?
A: Chao can interact in a lot of different ways. One of my favorites involves the chao putting together their own band. When one chao starts playing an instrument, quickly bring other chao that know instruments close by and watch the chao play together! Those that don't know how to play an instrument will usually sit down and watch the others.
Q: How do I get my chao to play with one of the items it has received for winning a race?
A: Just hang around the garden for a while and pay attention to the chao. It will usually play with a toy/turn on the TV/Radio after it wakes up from a nap, too.
Q: How do I get my chao to plant a seed?
A: You'll first need to let your chao win two of the four beginner races, all the way through "level" three. A pail and a shovel are two prizes you can win for winning two races. Once your chao has won these two items, hand 'em a seed and they'll look for a place to plant the seed somewhere in the garden. They'll eventually find a spot soft enough for the seed and plant it.
Q: When I mate a regular chao with a colored chao, why will the baby always look like the colored parent?
A:What you have done is brought the colored chao to the normal chao after having either the normal chao or both eat heart fruits. Switch the process: Bring the normal chao to the colored one and the baby will look normal after hatching. If it still doesn't work, keep trying combinations. Bring one chao over to the other and vice versa. You will get a normal-looking chao eventually.
Q: (Refer to previous question) Will the baby still look normal after metamorphosis?
A: No. It will take on some of the appearance of the colored chao. The normal baby will look normal, but will later take on the same traits as the original colored chao. See how I got the "blitz" chao for more information on this process.
Q: What do you mean by "normal" chao?
A: The regualar light blue/yellow chao you get from a regular egg. The best examples are the two you get the very first time you enter the Chao garden and the ones in the Hero and Dark Gardens. They have no special traits.
Q: How do I get a rare Jewel Chao?
A: You can only get one via the GBA. The ratio is of the eggs that appear are 1:3 :: common:rare. Remember - the rarer the chao, the more it costs. To change the egg that is offered when you enter the tiny chao garden, play one of the mini-games and then exit. Check the market again and see if you've found your egg.
