Fruits
Most of the fruits in Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, are the same when it comes to stats. The Hero, Dark, Circle, Square, Triangle, and Heart Fruits raise your chao's stamina by 40 points, and each bite of a fruit adds one notch to the meter beside your chao's level. When the notches reach a total of 10, your chao grows a level. But the levels your chao grows doesn't matter as much as how many points a chao has for each of it's attributes.
When it comes to effects, some fruits differ:
Hero Fruit: Your Chao will turn one shade lighter after it eats this entire fruit.
Dark Fruit: Your chao will turn one shade darker after eating this entire fruit.
Heart Fruit: Once your chao has eaten this entire fruit, it'll be taken into the mating season and have flowers sprout around it. Bring another chao over, and the two chao may lay an egg.
There's a special fruit in the game, but you can only buy it at the black market and it doesn't grow on trees. It's the Chao Fruit (looks like a chao head w/ a leaf sticking out of it) and it raises all of your chao's attributes by 50 points. A tad bit expensive, but a really great fruit nonetheless.
The table below will have a list of the fruits you can obtain via the GBA. Connect your GBA to your GCN using the GBA/GCN link cable to send and receive fruits.

My recommendation is to use only ONE type of Chao Fruit at a time... for example, keep giving your chao Fruit B over and over until you reach the desired level. That way your chao will only lose so much and gain a lot more. Once your chao has reached the level you wanted it to, switch Fruits.
There are three good Fruits that I always try to stick to:
For Swim and Run: Fruit C
For Fly and Power: Fruit F
For Stamina: Fruit B
