Welcome to the Telenaut Omega Development Site, the place to check out how the game is getting on. Telenaut is an epic sci-fi action game, in which you pilot the Acropos Z7, an agile flying combat vehicle through a huge variety of missions. Basically it feels a lot like the All-Range sections in Starfox 64 (or Rogue Squadron) except viewed from above, and with the ability to shoot backwards.
Dogfights between enemies should infact be better than those in Starfox, because the ability to shoot backwards while being able to see the whole level will mean you won't have to keep on turning back on yourself and fights will be very dynamic and free-flowing.
Expect anything from dodging and weaving through hails of bullets, braking just as metallic crushers slams shut or boosting through gaps between energy fields! You can tell from the exclamtion mark that we're quite excited.

An update means only one thing. We've finished another world, complete with epic boss, some really cool enemies and medal targets for each level. The usual then. This time we were hard at work on the Weapons Factory, a chance to use lots of conveyer belts and pistons (as you can see from the screenshots).
That makes 3 worlds complete out of 5, with still a menu system, training, secrets and tonnes of cutscenes to go. See you here next year!

Telenaut seems unable to grasp the crate symbol's meaning. There's infinite lives thankfully.

The Tractor Beam in action...and an angry looking missile firer.

Piston!

Ok, so we've finished the first world, including the new feature that enables you to win a medal for each level if you beat certain targets in accuracy, shield and time elapsed. We've also finished the desert world and now we're making good progress with our third world. The screens below give you an idea, but it sure is better when you see everything moving with huge bosses in your face.

But you'll just have to wait for the full game won't you?

GAMEPLAY REVOLUTION: Diagonal obstacles!

A large tower, deal with it

So far, we've made 5 levels of the first world and are currently half way through our first boss. We're really happy with how the game plays; there are many genuine moments when we find ourselves gasping and oohing as we weave through obstacles or blow up a turret just before its too late. This game is tense.
Telenaut will be Chemical X's first game to use a completely original mod soundtrack, that Ben and I have been composing together. The choones that we've made at the moment are sounding pretty cool...man.
Here's some screenshots. We haven't included one of the boss but we must insist that it's rather mondo, can't wait to see how the later level bosses turn out. Until next time...something clever!

Curving past a turret...

I'm tempted to write "Tanks for the memories!"

Mmmm these stylised explosions look really nice in motion

Good ol' pointy HUD, the hexagons move even!

Faroooooo!
