Bert Kenny (UR, 0-0-1) D8 Rocky Pepeli (UR, 0-0-1)
Larry Middleton (UR, 1-0-0) W8 Lawrence Carter (UR, 0-1-0)

Rosco Toles (#18) easily wins a unanimous decision from Rocky Knight (UR) in 10 rounds. Toles' mastery is evident early, and Knight is never in the fight.

Jimmy Young (#19) and Paul Cavalier (UR) fight to an 8 round draw in a yawner. Young stays on the outside all night pecking away, and Cavalier's bull rushes are largely ineffective. The audience is not amused.

Bert Kenny (UR) fights to an 8 round draw with Rocky Pepeli (UR). The action is hot in this back and forth battle, and the draw is well deserved.

In the first bout of the evening, Larry Middleton (UR) takes a majority decision from longshot Lawrence "Pancho" Carter (UR) in 8 rounds. Middleton is very precise with his power punches early, and he builds a big lead while Carter's eye swells up. Suddenly in the 5th, Carter unleashes a huge uppercut that dumps Middleton to the canvas for a 7 count. Carter mounts a big offensive, but Middleton barely wins the majority decision 76-76, 77-75, and 78-74.

Reggie Meen (#15, 1-1-0) L8 Amos Johnson (#17, 2-0-0)
Sinan Samil Sam (UR, 1-0-0) W8 Red Burke (UR)

Cleveland Williams (#8) scores a 6th round TKO of Hans Kalbfell (#6) in a scheduled 10 rounder. Williams hammers Kalbfell, staggering him at least 20 times until Hans finally hits the canvas in the 6th. Williams opens up until referee Ken Morita stops it at 2:54 of the 6th.

George LaRocco (#14) scores the quickest knockout in the young history of the EBC at 1:16 of round 1 in his bout with Elzear Rioux (#10). The knockout is caused by one hell of a kidney punch, and Rioux doesn't rise for a full 10 minutes.

Amos Johnson (#17) wins a unanimous decision over Reggie Meen (#15) in 8 close rounds. Johnson is slightly ahead in a see-saw battle, when Meen seems to tire in the 6th. Meen has a good 7th, but Johnson holds on for the unanimous nod.

In the opener Sinan Samil Sam (UR) wins a unanimous decision victory over stubborn Red Burke (UR) in 8 rounds. Burke hangs punch for punch with Sam early, but he runs out of gas by the 5th and Sam takes over. Burke desperately throws a right in round 7 that breaks his hand. Sam punishes the now weaponless Burke until the final bell.

Palacio de los Deportes - Spain
Earnie Shavers (#9, 2-0-0) KO2 Phil Mercurio (#11, 1-1-0)
Scott Frank (#12, 2-0-0) W8 Fighting Bob Lawson (UR, 0-1-0)
Tommy Farr (#20, 2-0-0) W8 Michael Bennt (UR, 0-1-0)
Gunboat Smith (UR, 1-0-0) W8 Howard King (UR, 0-1-0)

Earnie Shavers (#9) scores a quick 2nd round knockout of Phil Mercurio (#11). Mercurio comes out slinging, not intimidated by Shavers' power at all. Shavers is stunned by a right hand in the 1st and Mercurio looks great hammering on The Acorn. Then like a flash Shavers' first right hand in round 2 drops Mercurio for the full 10 count.

Scott Frank (#12) wins a convincing unanimous decision over Fighting Bob Lawson (UR) in 8 thrilling rounds. It really becomes a slugfest by round 2, and Frank seems to do more damage with his tighter hooks. Frank lands a huge right hand and a devastating head butt that draws a warning from referee Fred Hernandez. Lawson does the better fighting when both men tire after the 6th, but Frank takes the unanimous nod.

Tommy Farr escapes disaster to win a unanimous decision over Michael Bentt in 8 rounds. Farr is completely outclassing Bentt, when suddenly late in the 3rd, Bennt lands a huge hook that drops Farr for a 6 count. It's Bentt's high water mark, as Farr outboxes Bentt until Michael tires in the 6th. Then Farr accelerates, sticking and moving brilliantly. Farr takes the decision by a wide margin despite the knockdown.

In the opener Gunboat Smith (UR) comes from behind to win a unanimous decision over crafty Howard King (UR). King opens up in round 2, stunning Smith and lashing him with combinations. Smith retaliates, but by round 6 King's boxing skills have given him a lead on the cards. Then King tires and Smith lobs right hand after right hand on now stationary King, who's dropped for a 6 count in round 7. King absorbs a beating in the final round and Smith pulls out the unanimous decision.

Arena Coliseo - Obregon, Mexico
George Johnson (#4, 2-0-0) W10 Von Clay (#1, 1-1-0)
Steve Dudas (UR, 0-0-1) D8 Francois Hendrickx (#21, 1-0-1)
Tom McMahon (UR, 1-0-0) W8 Mike Shreck (#7, 1-1-0)
Zora Folley (UR, 1-0-0) W8 Harry Mortenson (UR, 0-1-0)

George "Scrapiron" Johnson (#4) wins a split decision over Von Clay (#1) in a battle of top contenders. Clay connects with hard uppercuts frequently in the first half. Johnson boxes well and clinches plenty. By round 6 both fighters are exhausted, and punching accuracy goes out the window. Johnson finds his second wind late, and starts working the jab to good effect. Johnson's late rally wins the close split decision.

Steve Dudas (UR) and Francois Hendrickx (#21) fight to a thrilling 8 round majority draw. Dudas sets the tone early, but Hendrickx fights back sharply in the middle rounds. The last 2 rounds are beautiful mayhem with both fighters throwing huge bombs. The final scorecards read 77-77, 77-77, and 78-77 for Dudas.

Tom McMahon (UR) scores a unanimous decision victory over Mike Schreck (#7) in 8 exciting rounds. McMahon throws twice as many punches as Schreck, and wins the fight with his workrate and endurance. Neither fighter goes down.

In the opener, Zora Folley (UR) wins a unanimous decision over Harry Mortenson (UR) in 8 rounds. Folley boxes rings around Mortenson all night while hardly breaking a sweat.
