Heavyweight Henry Akinwande (#13) dominates Roscoe Toles (#10) winning an upset unanimous decision in 12 rounds. Akinwande scores with a 4 punch combination that staggers Toles and puffs up his eye in the very 1st round. Henry delivers some nice combinations in the 2nd, utilizing his height and reach well, and he staggers Toles again in the 3rd with an uppercut. In the 4th Akinwande works Roscoe into a corner and starts to lob right hands in there until Roscoe goes down for a 4 count after a really nice snappy right cross. Toles recovers to flurry in the 6th, but the eye looks worse and worse. Round 7 the action slows down so much that there are more fouls than punches landed. Henry wobbles Roscoe with another uppercut in the 8th, and he stagger Toles again in the 10th with a series of right hands. Roscoe goes on the offensive in the 11th, but Akinwande takes the final round with overhand rights. It's no surprise when Akinwande walks away with the unanimous decision victory.

Middleweight Gene Armstrong (#9) scores a cuts TKO of Dan Creedon (#8) in the 11th round of their rematch. Armstrong does a good job of beating Creedon to the punch early, but Dan staggers him with a perfectly placed combination in the 2nd. Gene is overcautious for a couple rounds allowing Dan to rack up some points. Gene reawakens in the 5th, sticking and moving and suddenly Creedon looks slow again. Armstrong lands a hard hook that staggers Dan and cuts him over an eye late in the 6th. They war at ring center in the 7th, and Creedon's cut reopens triggering a house call from the doctor. Armstrong staggers Dan again in the 8th with an uppercut, but Dan does some nice work on the inside in the 9th. Armstrong staggers Dan early in the 11th and it gets the cut eyelid bleeding again. The doctor visits again and this time he calls the fight.

Junior middleweight John Mugabi (#1) shows some heart by overcoming a knockdown to score a 9th round knockout of Tidashi Mihara (#3) in a rematch. Round 1 is a candidate for round of the year as both men start with the big guns right away, which naturally favors Mugabi who looks better. Mugabi lands a pair of big uppercuts in round 2, then he staggers Mihara with a body shot and suddenly Tidashi's legs are gone. Mugabi's a bit punched out and Mihara takes the 3rd, and round 4 is another classic that is too close to call. They trade hard right hands in the 6th, but Mihara lands a perfect right cross that drops the big ugandan for a 4 count as round 7 ends. Mihara dominates the 8th, and Mugabi looks fatigued while Tidashi picks up a warning for rabbit punching. Mugabi starts the 9th landing a pair of right hands and Mihara goes down from the second one. Tidashi tries his best but he just misses beating the count. Mugabi gets off the deck to score a knockout over his rival in a thriller.

Lightweight Buzzsaw Yamabe (#9) wins a 1st round TKO over Ray Adigun (#10) when Ray injures himself and is unable to continue. Yamabe staggers Adigun with a right hand in the 1st, and Ray throws a wild haymaker counter that misses everything and dislocates Adigun's shoulder. Ray immediately is in tremendous pain and referee Ertle has no choice but to call the fight.

Former EBC light heavyweight champ Joe Knight (#1) wins back his title with an 11th round TKO of now former champ Philadelphia Jack O'Brien (Chmp). O'Brien starts fast landing the jab well in round 1, and his crisper punches score often early. The 4th round is a great punch up that riles up those in attendance, and Knight wobbles the champ with a hook early in round 6. Knight staggers him with a shot downstairs, then lands a right cross that cuts the champ's eyebrow badly. O'Brien does a good job in the 7th, jabbing without being a target himself. O'Brien does some brilliant work on the outside in the 9th, but Knight lands a great left hook that staggers the champ and reopens his cut in the 11th bringing the doctor. The doctor takes one look at the ugly cut and calls the match over. Joe Knight regains his title with an 11th round cuts TKO in a fight in which he was way behind on the scorecards.

Middleweight James Toney (#2) wins a mildly controversial unanimous decision over Jose Basora (#4) in 12 gripping rounds. Toney lands a couple of smashing left hooks that wobble Basora in the 2nd, and a big uppercut that almost floors Jose in the 3rd. They mix it up pretty good in the 4th, and maybe Basora wins it. Toney flurries at the end of a stone boring 5th, and in round 6 Basora is winning on the inside when Toney drops him for a flash knockdown late in the round. In an immediate reversal, Toney is winning the 7th when Basora drops him for a 2 count as the round ends. They trade right hands in the 8th, and Toney is in trouble for a bit. Basora has a big 9th round, and Toney is staggered a couple times by right hands upstairs. They trade power shots upstairs with no jabs in sight in round 10, and Basora staggers Toney with a few seconds left in the fight. The final scorecards read 114-112 twice and 115-111 for James Toney!

Cruiserweight Jose Luis Rivera (#5) scores a 5th round knockout of former champ Saul Montana (#2). Montana staggers Rivera with the first lead right hand, but Rivera strings together a nice flurry to take the opening round. The next few rounds are close, but Rivera drops the former champ with a beautiful left hook early in round 5. Montana is up at 6, but Rivera floors him again with a body punch and this time Montana stays down for the full count.

Junior welterweight Dorin Spivey (#6) scores a quick 2nd round knockout of Ubaldo Hernandez (#4). Hernandez dictates the action in the 1st, but half way through round 2 Spivey cuts loose with a 3 punch combination that stretches Hernandez for the night.

LWLuis Villalta (#12, 3-0-0, 2KO) KO4 Billy Marquart (#11, 1-1-0, 1KO)

Former EBC light heavyweight champ Prince Charles Williams (#2) wins an upset unanimous decision over Al McCoy (#14) in a nice tussle. Charles takes the 1st with a couple nice uppercuts, and round 2 is all action and very close. McCoy roughs up Williams in the corner in the 3rd, but Williams rocks him with at least 4 uppercuts in the 4th that starts to puff up McCoy's eye. Williams continues to walk through McCoy's punches to land his heavy shots in the middle rounds. McCoy scores with some nice combinations in the 7th, and early in the 8th he lands a snapping jab that cuts Williams badly on his lip and sends him into a rage of swarming punches for the rest of the round. Prince Charles hammers him with hooks and uppercuts in the 9th which makes Al's eye worse, and the last round sees Charles landing the overhand right until he floors Al for a 7 count with less than a minute remaining. Al eats a couple more hooks while backpedaling, but he finishes on his feet. Prince Charles takes the unanimous decision against the wisdom of the prognosticators.

Heavyweight Tony Thompson (#9) wins a unanimous decision over out-classed Al Ettore (#18) in 10 rounds. Ettore misses the first jab, and Thompson lands a counter combination that drops the surprised Ettore for a 4 count. Tony drops him again for a 2 count as the very 1st round ends. Al rebounds nicely to outhustle Tony in the 2nd, but Thompson does some devastating head hunting in the next round. Tony scores with a flush right hand in the 4th, and round 6 is a real classic that sees each man in trouble. Late in the 7th Thompson lands a 6 punch combination that floors Ettore for a 7 count. Thompson doesn't do much to follow up, but Tony scores a flash knockdown late in the 8th which produces some puffiness near Ettore's eye. Ettore is out of it and his legs are gone, so Thompson methodically hammers him in the 9th. The last round is a snoozer as Thompson coasts. Tony takes the unanimous decision with a huge lead on the cards.

Junior middleweight Michael Lerma (#2) scores a brutal 9th round knockout of Pablo Baez (#5) in an ugly one sided beating. Lerma comes to life half-way through the first round to solidly outwork Baez in the opening frame. Lerma doesn't want to fight in the 2nd, so Baez lands a couple solid shots. Both men are staggered in the 3rd when the heavy leather comes out, but then there isn't much action for a couple rounds. Lerma staggers Baez with a uppercut in the 5th, then drops him with another and Pablo is up at 9 after the bell sounds. The knockdown totally takes the starch out of Baez, so Lerma tees off with uppercuts and right hands in the 6th. Lerma accelerates from there, though Baez does land a big body shot as round 8 ends. Baez tags Mike hard to the body to open round 9, but then Lerma lands an uppercut that drops Pablo for a 9 count a few seconds later. Lerma floors the stricken dominican 3 more times before he stays down. Michael Lerma scores a 9th round knockout.

Lightweight Luis Villalta (#12) scores a 4th round knockout of outgunned Billy Marquart (#11). Villalta rocks Marquart in the 1st, staggering him with power punches at least 4 times. Marquart backs Luis into a corner and does some nice work inside, but Villalta lands an uppercut that wobbles the canadian at the bell. Marquart staggers Villalta with a nice uppercut in the 4th, but Villalta lands a pair of right hands, the second of which floors Marquart for the full count.

In a rematch, former EBC heavyweight champion Jimmy Young (#1) and Tuffy Griffiths (#2) fight to a hotly disputed draw in 12 rounds. The former champion Young boxes brilliantly early, and Griffiths has trouble landing anything solid, with the exception of a beautiful uppercut on the inside that freezes Young for several seconds in the 2nd. Young catches a warning for holding in the 4th, and Tuffy still has fits trying to hit the slippery philadelphian. Griffiths strings together a nice flurry of body shots in the 5th, and he staggers the tough former champ with a right hand. Young picks it up a notch in the 6th, and Griffiths cannot land because of boxing master Young's airtight defense. In the 7th, the pattern is similar: Young counters after blocking a wild shot, then he lands a bunch of jabs while Griffiths flails away at Young's shell. Griffiths lands a right cross that has Young hurt for a few seconds, but Jimmy counters beautifully and actually stuns Griffiths in a follow up flurry. Tuffy attacks the body in round 9, but again Young's great endurance and chin enable him to make it a close round just by countering and moving. In round 10 they bang heads and Young is cut. Griffiths targets the cut immediately and by the end of the round Jimmy is half blind with blood streaming down his face. They get the cut closed, and round 11 sees both men too tired to throw much. Young shrewdly takes the final round with just a couple light blows. The final scorecards read 115-114 Griffiths, 114-114, and 117-111 for Young, a draw. The winner of this fight was to face Folley in his next defense.

Super middleweight Steve Little (#3) scores a cuts TKO on Librado Andrade (#2) in a rematch. Little controls the action early with his jab, but Andrade lands a couple power right hands. Little's faster hands are the difference in the 4th as Andrade can't keep up with the speedy and defensive minded Little. Andrade scores a flash knockdown at the end of round 5, and it gets ugly in the 6th, when Little is cut on his mouth by a snapping uppercut and Andrade is cut on his right eyebrow bringing on the doctor. Little is extremely active in the 7th to win the round by a mile, and he lands a short hook in the 8th that reopens Andrade's cut. The doctor comes out again and this time declares the fight over. Steve Little takes out his rival with an 8th round TKO!

Light heavyweight Charley Belanger (#13) wins a closer than expected majority decision over Von Clay (#12) in a good one. Clay wobbles Charley with a straight right hand in the 2nd, and the 3rd features Belanger staggering Clay with an uppercut. Belanger takes the 4th round off, and Clay pummels him with power punches. Belanger is in trouble again in the 5th, but this time he fires back and the action brings 'em to their feet. Belanger starts to land the right hand a lot more often because Clay's eye begins to swell up a bit in the 6th. Belanger lands a couple nice right crosses in the 7th, and Clay suffers a cut below his other eye. Clay looks weary and out of it by round 9, and Belanger continues to score with the right hand. Belanger doesn't coast in the final round, and he continues to punish Clay until the final bell. Belanger wins the majority decision which is shockingly close considering the fight we saw.

Former EBC super middleweight champ Syd Vanderpool (#6) wins a unanimous decision over Darryl Salmon (#7) in 10 rounds. Both men are sleepwalking through the 1st when Vanderpool lands a monster right hand that sends Salmon staggering to the ropes. Salmon again wobbles in the 3rd when Syd lands a nice uppercut that again backs Salmon to the ropes. Vanderpool has Salmon in bad trouble after a nasty combination in the 5th, and he just shellacks him with power punches and referee Morita is close to stopping it when the bell rings. Salmon starts the 6th with a swelling eye after the barrage, and Vanderpool continues to drop huge right hands onto Salmon's noggin. Darryl picks it up in the 8th, and so there's a wild shootout at ring center which, again Vanderpool appears to win. Salmon is solidly winning the 9th, when Vanderpool times a jab to land a crashing right hand counter that drops Darryl for an 8 count. Salmon lands a nice uppercut in the opening seconds of round 10 that stagger Syd. Salmon throws and throws but Syd survives and takes the unanimous decison.

Light heavyweight Henry Maske (#3) wins a unanimous decision in his rematch over Gerhard Hecht (#9) in 12 tepid rounds. Maske starts to outhustle his fellow countryman in round 2, and he's cruising in the 3rd when Hecht lands a really hard right cross that staggers Maske at the bell. Henry's a little more cautious in the 4th, which he still takes, and a lot more cautious in the 5th, which is a bore. Maske pins Gerhard into a corner and then roughs him up on the inside in round 7, but Hecht scores with a huge body shot that freezes Maske in the 8th. Henry throws a hook that cuts Gerhard on an eye at the bell, and Hecht is still bleeding when he comes out for the 9th. Hecht desperately throws right hands and he stings Maske with a nice one that sends him staggering, but the next round he's recovered and boxing smoothly. Maske reopens the cut in the 11th, and the doctor allows the tired Hecht to continue. Hecht looks good in the first half of round 12, but he's completely out of steam which allows Maske to make the round even. Maske takes the unanimous decision by a country mile.

Heavyweight George "Old Chocolate" Godfrey (#22) wins a unanimous decision going away from Jack DeMave (#12) in 12. Godfrey lands a couple hard right hands in the 1st, and he does some nice body work after manuevering DeMave into a corner in the 2nd. Godfrey takes the 3rd with his attack upstairs, but referee Caiz takes a point away for a rabbit punch from George. Round 5 is too close to call, but DeMave ends up with a swelling eye after the round. Godfrey starts to target the eye in earnest in round 6, but he staggers Jack with a body punch in the 7th. DeMave is pretty tired in the 8th, so Godfrey tees off with the right hand putting DeMave into deep trouble by the end of the round. Jack is getting hammered in the 9th, so he rabbit punches George in a clinch which costs Jack a point. Godfrey tries to get the exhausted dutchman out of there in the 11th, but he's not ready to go and fights back stiffly as the round ends. Godfrey staggers DeMave again in the final round, but Jack finishes on his feet. Naturally Godfrey takes the unanimous decision with a comfortable margin of victory.

Welterweight Michele Palermo (#6) wins a split decision over Pinky Kaufman (#5) in a very close 10 rounder. Palermo staggers Kaufman with a left hook in the 2nd, but Kaufman scores well while holding and hitting in the 3rd. Kaufman snoozes through the 6th, so Palermo takes the round with his jab. Palermo opens up in the 7th, and he snaps Kaufman's head back with a hook that also cuts him near an eye. Kaufman scores with a flush combination in the 9th, but the 10th is a dull wrap up. Palermo ends up taking the razor close split decision 96-95 twice and 95-96!

Junior lightweight Michael Gomez (#4) wins a unanimous decision over Johnny Sato (#3) in 10. Gomez lands a pair of power hooks in the 2nd and Sato staggers, but Johnny flurries in the 3rd. Sato lands an uppercut that puts Gomez on the retreat in the 4th and Mike doesn't score with a single punch. Round 5 they go at it with combinations, and in the 6th Sato lands a flush right hand that starts a swelling on Gomez's eye. Gomez takes the 7th with a nice flush right hand on Sato's chin. Sato slows up in the 8th, and Gomez lands a crushing right hand that floors Johnny for a 7 count late in the 9th. Sato desperately throws everything he has at Gomez in the 10th, but Michael scores with a big uppercut that floors Sato with about 20 seconds left in the fight. Sato is up at 8, but Gomez takes the unanimous decision.

Heavyweight Cleveland Williams (#7) scores a brutal 4th round TKO of glutton for punishment George LaRocco (#5) in an ugly one. Jabs are out the window, and both men throw bombs in the 1st. Williams hurts LaRocco with a right cross, then drops him with a huge uppercut for an 8 count 2 minutes into the 2nd. Williams continues to mop the floor with LaRocco the rest of the 2nd, and he drops LaRocco again for an 8 count with a perfect right hand early in the 3rd. The Big Cat drops LaRocco again with a big uppercut in the 4th, but LaRocco is up at 5 this time. Williams lands one more humongous right hand that leaves LaRocco hanging on the ropes with his head lolling to the side, when referee Battle rescues the brave LaRocco. Williams is back in the win column with a solid TKO of tough title challenger LaRocco.

Super middleweight Mikkel Kessler (#5) scores a 9th round TKO to defeat Chris Eubank (#4) in a much anticipated matchup. Kessler aggressively moves forward while headhunting early, with the exception of a low blow for which Mikkel is warned in the 1st. Eubank does some nice work in the 2nd, but Kessler stuns him with a few seconds left in the round. Kessler goes on the attack again in the 3rd, and Eubank is hurt in the 4th by a crushing left hook. Kessler lands some big shots that put Eubank into some dire trouble for the first time in the 5th, but he battles back producing a close round in the 6th. They both jab at range in the 7th which is more Eubank's game, and he takes the round while damaging Kessler's eye despite mounting fatigue problems. Kessler opens up in the 9th, and he hurts Eubank with a hook that starts a 20 punch flurry before the referee rescues Eubank who is out on his feet. Kessler takes this huge match by TKO in the 9th.

Middleweight Jock McAvoy (#11) scores a 5th round knockout of overmatched Ernie Vigh (#13) in a shellacking. McAvoy has Vigh down in 30 seconds, and again two minutes in. Vigh rises and looks OK, and he hurts McAvoy with a hard uppercut and a right hand in the 2nd. McAvoy flurries in the 4th, and Vigh is cut near an eyebrow. McAvoy scores with a hook that really gets the blood flowing early in the 5th, so the doctor takes a look. Vigh is allowed to continue, but he's clearly bothered by the cut because McAvoy knocks him out about 20 seconds later. McAvoy by one punch knockout.

Lightweight Eddie Linder (#7) wins a near shutout unanimous decision over Tanveer Ahmed (#8) in 10 rounds. Linder, a light hitting but aggressive slickster, completely outclasses the turk in the early going. Ahmed finally returns fire at ring center in round 4 bringing them to the feet, but Linder resumes his mastery the very next round. Ahmed is out of gas by the 7th and Linder takes the late rounds easily. Linder coasts late and the crowd doesn't like it, but Eddie takes the unanimous decision by a wide margin.

Harry Greb (#3) wins back the EBC middleweight title by a 10th round knockout of now former champion Tiger Flowers (Chmp) in a tough battle. The shifty Flowers counters Greb's bull rushes well early, and the first few rounds are too close to call. Flowers flurries in the 5th, punctuating the round with a hook to Greb's jaw that makes Harry take a step back for the first time. Greb doesn't like that, so he comes out swinging, staggering Flowers with an uppercut and cutting him near a now swelling eye with a crisp jab in the 6th. They clash heads early in the 7th, and Flowers does some more nasty head work on the inside resulting in a warning. Greb stalks fruitlessly while Flowers moves and counters in the 8th, but Greb takes the 9th when he starts to get the range on the right hand. Flowers' eye looks really bad after the 9th, after perhaps catching a thumb as the round ends. Greb starts to swarm him with right crosses to Tiger's blind side in the 10th, and finally he steps into a perfect right hand that drops the Georgia Deacon for the full 10 count. Harry Greb recaptures the EBC middleweight crown by knockout! Greb and Flowers have each won 2 fights in their 4 fight series.

Light heavyweight Lloyd Marshall (#5) wins a unanimous decision over Bert Gilroy (#6) who extends Marshall the distance after 2 stoppage losses to Lloyd. They trade monster hooks early in the 1st, but Lloyd attacks the body and Gilroy covers up late in the round. Marshall's excellent accuracy shows in the 2nd as Lloyd sharpshoots from the outside before dropping the scotsman with an uppercut late in the round for a 3 count. Gilroy tries mightily but can't penetrate Marshall's defense in the 3rd, and finally Gilroy lands a couple hard shots in the 4th. Marshall lands a series of combinations in the 5th that leave Gilroy wobbly and with a swelling eye. Gilroy lands a few good shots between stretches of holding in the 6th, but he's pretty much exhausted after the round. Marshall scores 2 flash knockdowns on the exhausted scot in round 7, but mostly Gilroy holds to survive. Gilroy's eye looks hideous late, and Marshall takes advantage. Lloyd Marshall takes the near shutout unanimous decision for his 3rd straight win over Gilroy.

Light heavyweight Al Gainer (#10) scores a quick knockout of Jean Kreitz (#11) in only 1 round. Late in round 1 Gainer lands a crushing right cross that deposits Kreitz on the canvas for the full 10 count.

Top lightweight contender Colin Dunne (#1) wins a unanimous decision over Cisco Andrade (#6) in 10 rounds. Andrade controls the early action, but Dunne stuns him with a hard right hand as round 1 ends. Cisco lands a body shot that backs Dunne into a corner in round 2, and Andrade lands a monster combination that has Colin in deep late in the 3rd. Dunne stages a strong comeback in the 4th, and Andrade is reeling after a nice body shot. Dunne is aggressively taking round 6 when Andrade lands a pair of uppercuts that stagger the brit. The action slows a bit in the 7th, but Dunne lands a perfect left hook counter that drops Andrade for a 3 count as the round ends. Dunne drops Cisco again in the 8th with a great right cross, and Andrade is up at 6 this time, with a swelling eye. By round 9 Andrade has nothing left and Dunne is teeing off upstairs on the angelino. Andrade makes it to the final bell, but he is staggering at the end. Dunne takes the unanimous decison victory.
