The EBC gives the people what they want! The 2 most popular sluggers in the EBC, and #1 and #2 contenders to boot, get together for a juicy slugfest. Contrary to the expectations both fighters finish on their feet . Cleveland Williams (#1) fights to a majority draw with Earnie Shavers (#2), in 10 amazing rounds. The bombs start flying immediately after the opening bell, and nobody sees a jab in the building. Shavers seems to score more often with thudding right hands, but Williams finds Shavers' softer chin a couple times. It seems everytime Williams almost goes down, he comes up with a desperation uppercut to stagger Shavers. Williams gets a good rally going in round 7, and after wobbling Shavers, Cleveland lands a huge uppercut that drops Earnie for a 7 count. Shavers rebounds nicely, fighting through moderate swelling on both eyes, and Williams seems punched out until he lands another uppercut that drops Shavers for a flash knockdown as round 8 ends. Shavers tires badly and Williams almost puts him away in the 9th. Shavers finally lands the right and Williams is down for a 5 count in the last round, but he escapes to finish on his feet. Shavers' power bails him out, salvaging a majority draw that scores 94-94, 94-93 Shavers, and 94-94. Paul Cavalier (#7) scsres a 7th round knockout of Francois Hendrickx (#9) in a nice slugfest. Round 3 is when the hostilities really begin when Hendrickx stuns Cavalier, cutting him under an eye in the follow up. Cavalier fights back strongly, sticking and moving and stunning Hendrickx with an uppercut in the 4th. Hendrickx goes into a defensive shell, and Cavalier pounds the suddenly uncombative Belgian. In round 7 Cavalier lands a crushing right hand that drops Hendrickx for the full count. Cyril Whittaker (#18) scores a 3rd round TKO on cuts over German slugger Rudi Wagener (#17). Wagener is landing some good shots early, when suddenly Whittaker lands a right hand that cuts Wagener under an eye. After about a minute referee Arthur Mercante calls the doctor over, and the stoppage is called. Johnny DuPlooy (UR) fights to a majority draw with Al Roberts (#21) in 8 down and dirty rounds. DuPlooy fouls and clubs Roberts around the ring early to good effect, leaving Roberts wondering what to do. DuPlooy tires after the 5th, and Roberts starts landing. Roberts rallies big the last 2 rounds to steal the majority draw.

The Powerhouse, Melbourne, Australia
Jimmy Young (#6, 2-0-1, 0KO) W10 Scott Frank (#4, 2-1-0, 0KO)
Danny McAlinden (#15, 1-0-1, 1KO) D8 Sunny Jim (#10, 1-0-1, 0KO)
Zora Folley (#19, 2-0-0, 0KO) W8 Neil Clisby (#20, 1-1-0, 0KO)
Tommy Martin (#22, 2-0-0, 0KO) W8 Antxon Iraeta (UR, 0-1-0, 0KO)

The Powerhouse, Melbourne, Australia - Jimmy Young (#6) easily wins a unanimous decision from Scott Frank (#4) in 10 rounds. Frank has a good first round, but once Young has his measure, Jimmy completely befuddles Frank with his defense. Frank lands the occasional hard hook, but Young controls the action with his jab, and uppercuts in the clinches. Danny McAlinden (#15) fights to a majority draw with Sunny Jim (#10) over 8 rounds. Jim surprisingly comes out swinging, and McAlinden has trouble pulling the trigger on the Canadian. McAlinden finally starts to control the action in the 7th, and barely pulls even, receiving a majority draw. Zora Folley (#19) scores a unanimous decision victory over Neil Clisby (#20) in a battle of slick stylists. Folley's skills are just too much for Clisby, himself a skilled boxer, and Folley takes it going away. Tommy Martin (#22) wins a unanimous decision, clubbing Spaniard Antxon Iraeta (UR) for 8 rounds. Martin bloodies Iraeta's nose in the 3rd, and lands some thudding shots on the overmatched Spaniard. By round 6 Iraeta is bleeding from a split lip and staying on his feet by heart alone. Martin finally drops Iraeta with a minute left in the fight. Iraeta amazingly is up at 9 and finishes on his feet.
