Heavyweight Zora Folley (#7) wins an off the canvas split decision victory over Von Clay (#22) in 12 rounds. Round 1 is hard fought with Clay doing the better work until Folley unleashes a right hand lead that floors Clay for a 3 count as the round ends. Clay backs into a corner allowing Folley to rough him up in round 4, and Clay already looks winded after the round. Folley misses a right cross and Clay's counter left hook drops Zora for a 5 count in the 5th. Clay has Folley on the run in round 7, and Von is thinking upset at this point. Folley recovers to pace the fight down the stretch, though Clay trades heavy shots in the 9th, Von's last gasp. Both fighters swell up badly late in the fight, but the scoring is a surprinsingly close split decision for Folley 114-112, 114-112 and 112-114. Cruiserweight Marvin Camel (#6) wins a unanimous decision over Lightning Lupe (#5) in 12 dull rounds. After a couple of actionless rounds, Camel starts to get his combinations working. Camel has Lupe covering up at the end of round 4, and Lupe looks tired at the end of the round. Lupe ups his output to take the 6th, but Camel outworks him in the 7th. Camel uses angles from the outside to land a pile of jabs while Lupe pursues, unsure how to cut off the ring on the slippery Native American. Camel outworks Lupe down the stretch to take the unanimous decision. Heavyweights Danny McAlinden (#13) and George Stirling (#12) fight to a 12 round draw, in a dirty fight. Stirling takes the 1st round, outworking McAlinden on the inside. Danny comes back to drop George with an uppercut for a 2 count in the 2nd. Danny opens up, but misses most of his punches, and Stirling hits Danny low for which he is warned at the end of round 2. The foul takes some of the starch out of Danny, and he hardly punches until round 5, which he wins by leading a nice exchange at ring center. McAlinden looks tired in the 6th, so the action slows down and Stirling carefully outworks Danny behind the jab. McAlinden stuns George with a right cross in the 7th, and follows up with some hard right hands. Stirling stuns Danny the very next round, and McAlinden responds with a head butt that infuriates Stirling. McAlinden dominates the 9th, punctuating the flurry with a left hook that wobbles Stirling at the bell. Danny is penalized a point for a low blow early in round 10, and Stirling angrily opens up the rest of the round, hurting Danny and damaging an eye. Danny is so tired he doesn't throw a punch in the final round, allowing Stirling to salvage a draw, 114-114 all around. The foul costs McAlinden dearly in the final scoring. Middleweight Tiger Flowers (#14) scores a 10th round knockout of Sean Ryan Wilson (#13) in a walkover. Flowers uses his amazing defense to make Wilson look silly early, and by round 3 Flowers blindingly fast combinations raises a knot on Wilson's left eye. Wilson fades in the 5th, and Flowers stays outside retreating while unlimbering the right hand. Flowers dominates the 2nd half of the fight with tricky angles and quick counters. Wilson has a last gasp in the 8th, landing some nice shots, but Flowers still outworks him to win the round. After absorbing a big uppercut, Flowers lands a clean right cross that drops Wilson for the count early in round 10.

Middleweight James Toney (#2) wins a big upset decisioning Harry Greb (#1) in 12 rounds. Toney counters Greb's hyperactive attack well early, actually hurting Harry with a counter right hand late in the 1st. The fight goes inside to the trenches and Toney roughs Greb up between the two trading headbutts in the 3rd. Toney stuns Greb again with the right hand as the 3rd round ends. Toney continues to dominate the phone booth war and Greb looks confused and frustrated after taking a shellacking the 5th. Both fighters are seemingly stuck to each other as each stays inside exclusively through the middle rounds. Each man is staggered in the 8th including Greb rocking Toney with a right hand that blasts him to the ropes at the bell. Early in the 8th, Toney is cut by and accidental headbutt, so Toney loads up a right hand that drops Greb for an 8 count. Greb retreats to a corner covering up while Toney tees off the rest of the round. Greb rebounds and the two trade power punches at ring center, worsening Toney's cut and prompting a doctor's visit at the end of the 10th round. Toney lands a savage 6 punch combination that drops Greb for a 7 count with a minute left in the fight. Greb gets up but Toney takes the upset unanimous decision 117-109 all around. Harry will get another crack at James in May when they face off for the vacant EBC middleweight crown. Heavyweight Ed "Gunboat" Smith (#10) scores a quick knockout of Phil Mercurio (#21) in about a minute, in Smith's first fight since losing to Jimmy Young in a title bid last November. Mercurio counters a jab, then Smith lands a right cross that catches Mercurio on the temple to put him down and out. Middleweight Enzo Fiermonte wins a unanimous decision over Eddie Andrews in 10 lukewarm rounds. Fiermonte lands sharp jabs from behind a tight defense in the early going, and Andrews doesn't really get it going until he stuns Fiermonte with an uppercut in round 5. Andrews punches himself out and Fiermonte easily controls the action late to cement the unanimous decision. Light heavyweight Philadelphia Jack O'Brien (#10) wins a unanimous decision over Tom Collins (#11) in 10 rounds. Collins roars out of his corner to catch O'Brien with a nice right hand that has Jack covering up. Then Tom uses his experience to counter O'Brien's crude punches until the end of round 1. O'Brien calms down and shortens up his punches in the 2nd and 3rd, so Collins has no chance to counter the sharp blows. By round 5, Collins starts loading up his power punches to good effect since his counters weren't landing. Rounds 6 & 7 are the best rounds of the fight with each trading lightning quick blows while circling. Collins tires from the torrid pace in the 8th, and O'Brien starts to punch with impunity scoring with jabs and right crosses. O'Brien dominates down the stretch, flurrying the final 30 seconds to the delight of the crowd. O'Brien takes the unanimous decision.

LHWHenry Maske (#6, 7-4-0, 2KO) WTD8 Al Gainer (#8, 4-3-1, 2KO)

Heavyweight Paul Cavalier (#4) wins a cuts TKO over Rosco Toles (#9) in only one round. Toles paws with the jab for a minute, then Cavalier lands a left hook that cuts Toles' eyebrow badly. The pair fight on for another minute before the doctor takes a look, and stops the fight over Toles' objections at 1:41 of round 1. Toles and Cavalier are now 1-1 and a draw against each other in their 3 fights. Light heavyweight David Telesco (#5) upsets top contender Prince Charles Williams (#1), knocking him cold just as the 10 rounder ends. The early rounds have almost no action at all, and it's the 3rd round before anyone throws a hard punch. Williams staggers Telesco early in the 3rd, but Telesco lands a big uppercut as the frame ends. Williams works from the outside to good effect while Telesco moves forward behind a jab that can't find a target. Round 5 features Williams throwing combinations but Telesco lands a flush right hand at the bell. Both men box from the outside in the middle rounds, and the crowd bemoans the lack of action. Suddenly Telesco opens up in the 8th, hurting Williams with a hard combination, but Williams fires back in the final 30 seconds to make the round very close. Williams lands a huge overhand right that drops Telesco for a 6 count early in the 9th round. Telesco is fighting back at the end of the round, and he cuts Charles on an eyelid and it looks ugly. Telesco takes advantage in the 10th, and he lands some huge shots on the inside. With 3 seconds on the clock in the final round, Telesco lands a crashing right hand that floors Williams who is counted out after the final bell. Williams was ahead on all 3 cards and we see a truly miraculous finish in this one folks. Middleweight Gene Armstrong (#5) wins a unanimous decision over Giovanni DeMarco (#10) by a wide margin in 10. DeMarco scores with a flush uppercut in round 3, the first telling blow of the fight. Armstrong starts to get the jab working and he wins the middle rounds convincingly. DeMarco gets offensive minded in the 8th, but he can't touch the sharp punching Armstrong. Gene cruises the final 2 rounds to cement the unanimous decision win. Light heavyweight Henry Maske (#6) wins a split decision over Al Gainer (#8) in 10 rounds. Gainer rocks Maske 90 seconds into the fight with an overhand right, and Maske stumbles backward to the corner with a fresh eye cut, while Gainer wings hooks moving forward. Maske cautiously outworks Gainer for the next few rounds, now wary of Al's power. Gainer has a tough time landing anything solid on the slippery German through 4, but Maske suffers a bad cut on his forehead from an accidental clash of heads in the 5th. Gainer appears to tire in the 6th, and Maske jabs from behind his tight defense. In round 8 Maske's cut forehead reopens in a torrent of blood. The doctor stops the fight, and since the cut was caused by an unintentional head butt the scorecards are consulted. Maske wins the split decision 66-67, 68-66 and 68-66 in the cut shortened contest.

MWTommy Freeman (#7, 2-2-1, 1KO) L8 Steve McCall (#12, 4-1-0, 0KO)

Heavyweight Lawrence Carter (#16) wins a huge upset over Cleveland Williams (#6) winning a unanimous decision in 10 rounds. Williams punishes Carter in the 1st, but Lawrence manages a flush right hand that wobbles Cleve. Carter apparently wins a couple of rounds but Williams snaps Carter's head back with a straight right hand early in round 4. Carter is reeling when Cleve opens up, when suddenly Carter lands a desperation left hook that drops Williams for a 3 count as the round ends. Williams is still rocky and Carter whales away at him until a combination puts Cleve down for another 3 count. Williams fights back hard in the last 20 seconds of the round and Carter wobbles. Carter rips into Williams again in the 5th, and Cleve is in trouble again when lands a flush right hand followed by a quick flurry that hurts Carter as the 5th ends. Round 6 is another beaut with Williams leading the mayhem. Carter fades in the 7th, and Williams takes advantage going upstairs until Carter has a puffy eye. The action slows down the stretch but Carter takes the unanimous decision. In a rematch, light heavyweight Jorge Ahumada (#7) wins a unanimous decision over Charley Horn (#12) in 10 exciting rounds. Ahumada completely outguns Horn early, and it's obvious that Horn cannot hurt the Argentinian. Horn is in bad trouble on the ropes at the end of round 2. Horn counterpunches well in the 3rd, and Ahumada responds with a nice flurry in the 4th, ending it with a low blow for which Jorge is warned. Horn fades after the low blow and Ahumada has his way in the 5th, working upstairs with hard shots. Horn comes alive again in round 6, so after catching a couple combinations Ahumada head butts Horn for which Jorge is penalized a point. Horn does some nice work to win the 7th, but Ahumada lands a flush right hand that starts Charley's eye swelling. Ahumada drops Horn for a 6 count with a viscious body punch, and suddenly Horn looks slow and helpless as round 8 ends. Both fighters go all out in the final round but the decision goes to Ahumada. Jorge wins his 4th straight fight. Heavyweight Art Weigand (#18) wins a unanimous decision over Hans Kalbfell (#14) in 10 rounds. Weigand staggers Kalbfell with a combination in the 2nd, but Kalbfell knocks Weigand down with a right cross in the furious follow up. Weigand is up at 6 and Kalbfell is a little tentative after the knockdown. Weigand scores heavily from the outside in round 3, and Kalbfell is staggered once, however Weigan starts to swell on both his eyes. Weigand hurst Hans with a couple of flush right hands in the 4th. Weigand is winning the 5th when Kalbfell wobbles him with a right hand that worsens Art's swollen peepers. Weigand dominates the 6th when both fighters go inside. A couple of very even and action packed rounds commence, and Weigand takes the close but unanimous decision 96-93, 96-93 and 95-94. Middleweight Steve McCall (#12) wins an upset unanimous decision over Tommy Freeman (#7) in 8 rounds. Freeman calmly and deliberately works the jab, until McCall lands a hell of a right cross that floors Freeman for a 6 count. McCall lands a couple more shots, but Freeman is fighting back at the bell. Freeman tries to backpedal in the 2nd, but McCall forces him to trade with a stunning uppercut early in the round, and Freeman now sports a puffy eye. Freeman staggers McCall with a sharp combination in the 3rd, but then McCall fights back hard to end the round. After several close rounds Freeman opens up in round 7 when McCall fades. McCall is cut and weary going into the final round, which is anticlimactic with all clinches and almost no punching. McCall wins the upset unanimous decision 77-74 all around.
