Cardiff, Wales - Amos Johnson (#7) wins a close decision over Cyril Whittaker (#6) in 10 rounds. After a few dead even rounds, Johnson intensifies his attack scoring with a series of thudding shots in round 5. Whittaker fights back in kind, stunning Johnson with a nice uppercut in round 6. Then both fighters have their moments late, but Johnson lands harder and more often and he takes the unanimous nod. Rosco Toles (#15) easily scores a unanimous decision in 8 over Tom McMahon (#13). Toles outslicks McMahon early, moving and countering well. McMahon pursues, throwing wild hooks, but Toles easily keeps him at bay. Toles flashes fast hands in the final round, to put an exclamation point on the unanimous decision. Tommy Martin (#17) scores a 7th round TKO over Rocky Pepeli (#24), when Pepeli's eye becomes to damaged to continue. Martin controls the action right away, landing lead right hands at will. Pepeli is stunned in round 2, and his left eye begins to swell. Pepeli comes back strong in round 3, stunning Martin with and uppercut, and a couple of nice hooks to the head. Pepeli has his way until Martin stuns him at the end of round 4. Martin starts to heap punishment on the punched-out Pepeli, and the swelling gets ugly. Martin drops Pepeli with a right hand at the end of the 6th, but Rocky rises at 4 as the bell rings. Martin lands a smashing right hand directly on the eye early in round 7, prompting the doctor to call a halt at 1:46 of round 7. Larry Middleton (#21) wins an easy unanimous decision over Frank Yarchan (UR) in 8 rounds. Middleton easily controls the bout with his snappy jab and shifty movement. Yarchan has a couple good rounds early, but his endurance fails him late.

Paul Cavalier (#4) scores a sudden 7th round knockout of George LaRocco (#5) in a battle of top contenders. After a tentative start, Cavalier stuns LaRocco with an uppercut early in round 3, and LaRocco eats some right hands while he recovers. Cavalier controls the action with his blazing handspeed in the middle rounds while LaRocco clinches and tries hooks on the inside. Late in round 7 Cavalier lands a 5 punch combination and LaRocco's defense collapses as he staggers back into the ropes. Then Cavalier lands the right hand bomb and LaRocco goes to sleep for the full count. Al Roberts (#9) wins an hotly disputed majority decision over George "Scrapiron" Johnson (#8) in 8 rounds. Roberts lands some nice shots early, but he's badly cut with a slashing left hook from Johnson. Roberts fights back well and the cut is closed, while Johnson works the jab late. Johnson rallies and has Roberts out on his feet for the last 2 minutes of the fight, but Roberts wins the controversial majority decision 77-77, 79-75 and 79-95. Johnny DuPlooy (#19) wins a shocking upset unanimous decision over Tommy Farr (#16) in 8 razor close rounds. DuPlooy starts fast, and he stuns Farr a couple times in the first half of the fight. Farr finally wakes up in the 5th, peppering DuPlooy with combinations. DuPlooy fades badly down the stretch, but his early rally just barely wins him the unanimous decision 77-76 all around. In the opener Ed "Gunboat" Smith (#18) beats up on Steve Dudas (#23), winning a unanimous decision in 8 rounds. Smith has the first big round, opening up in the 4th, and flooring Dudas for an 8 count in round 5. Smith continues to batter Dudas, dropping him again in round 8, and he takes the unanimous decision by a wide margin.
