Former EBC heavyweight champ Jimmy Young (#2) wins a unanimous decision over Gerald "Tuffy" Griffiths (#5) in 10 rounds. Griffiths commences a painful body attack on the former champ in round 2, and Jimmy is wobbled twice. Young stays very active in the 3rd, pecking from the outside and forcing Griffiths to pursue. Young lazily allows Griffiths to back him into a corner and work upstairs in the 4th. Griffiths lands a crippling body shot in the 6th, and Young covers up, unable to flee this time. Both men get offensive minded in the 7th, and Young lands some snapping hooks while Griffiths looks for an opening. Young has a huge 9th round when he flurries, sensing Griffith's exhaustion. The final round has some nice action, but Young's higher workrate wins him the unanimous decision 97-94 all around. Jimmy has faced some of the best power punchers in the heavyweight division, yet has never been off his feet in almost 200 rounds. Jimmy wants another shot at Tommy Farr and he says so. Top light heavyweight contender David Telesco (#1) wins a unanimous decision over tough Jorge Ahumada (#3) in 10 rounds. Telesco stuns Jorge 10 seconds in with a left hook to the jaw, and he flurries big early. Jorge responds by hitting low for which he is warned. The pair trade power punches and ugly fouls for the next couple of rounds, with Telesco getting there more often. Telesco completely dominates the 4th round, stunning Jorge with a straight right hand and opening up while Ahumada tries to hang on. Ahumada suddenly wakes up in the 5th, and he catches David with a shot that sends him stumbling to the ropes to take a pounding the rest of the round. Telesco telegraphs the right hand from the outside in round 6, but Ahumada is too gassed to counter. Early in the 7th Telesco lands a booming right hand that drops Ahumada for an 8 count, and Telesco fires away upstairs while Jorge covers up in the corner. The furious pace cools greatly the final 3 rounds, and Telesco's lead in the scoring holds up. David calls out newly crowned champ Prince Charles Williams to give him a title shot since Dave knocked Chuck cold a few months ago. Middleweight Freddie Apostoli (#9) gets off the deck to win a unanimous decision over Roland Todd (#7) in a wild one. Todd dictates the action in round 1 with a quick jab, but Apostoli lands some hard shots in the exciting 2nd round including a flush right that sends Todd staggering drunkenly into a corner. Apostoli punishes Roland until Todd lands a perfect uppercut that floors Freddie for an 8 count as round 5 ends. Todd lands heavily in the 6th, until Apostoli lands a thudding right hand that floors Todd for a 3 count. Apostoli flurries and suddenly Todd looks exhausted. Apostoli accurately lands on Todd late and Roland eats some hard shots in an action packed 8th round. before landing a body shot that wobbles Freddie. Apostoli nails Todd again to floor him for a 6 count in the final round, and Freddie takes the unanimous decision on the strength of harder punches. Middleweight Albert "Buck" Crouse (#11) scores a 9th round knockout of brave Steve McCall (#10). Both men wing power punches early, completely skipping the feeling out process, and Crouse hurts his man more than once. McCall is in big trouble as early as round 3, and his eye puffs up alarmingly quickly. Crouse starts round 4 stalking, and McCall lands a counter hook that cuts Crouse near an eye. Furious, Crouse goes all out and McCall almost goes down from a hard right cross. Crouse tees off on the half blind McCall in the 5th, and Steve can hardly land a decent punch. Crouse continues to just hammer McCall, whose eye is completely closed by round 7, and the doctor takes a look. Crouse floors McCall for a 3 count with a viscious left hook, and the referee looks close to stopping it at the end of round 8. Buck floors McCall again in the 9th for a 7th count, with an uppercut that Steve never sees. Buck puts McCall down again for an 8 count, then again with a short right cross that mercifully puts McCall down for the count.

EBC - Polo Grounds - New York, NY
CW(T)Sebastian Rothman (Chmp, 7-2-0, 4KO) L15 Saul Montana (#2, 7-2-1, 3KO)
HWMike Schreck (#3, 12-3-1, 7KO) KOby2 Vittorio Campolo (#22, 5-3-0, 2KO)
LHWHenry Maske (#6, 8-4-0, 2KO) W10 Nicky Piper (#9, 5-2-0, 0KO)
LHWChic Calderwood (#13, 6-3-0, 1KO) W10 Tommy Dragon (#10, 4-3-2, 0KO)

Saul Montana (#2) wins the EBC Cruiserweight championship, winning a 15 round decision over former champ Sebastian Rothman (Chmp). Rothman lands heavily in the 1st, and Montana just misses and the champ looks glowingly confident after the round. Montana works from the outside the next few rounds, slowing the action somewhat, and Saul makes Rothman look awkward and slow. Saul comes inside in the 5th, and Rothman eats some powerful shots and in the 6th Montana almost floors the champ with a body punch. Rothman has a nasty swelling under his eye after the round and his cornermen scream at him between rounds. The next couple rounds the action is dreadfully slow, but Montana does land a couple big shots that further worsen the look of Rothman's eye. Round 9 is an all-action beaut as Rothman desperately tries to keep his title, and both men trade hard right hands the full 3 minutes. Round 10 is more of a shoving match and Montana gets 2 warnings for pushing off with his shoulder. Saul swarms the champ with powerful shots in the 11th and Rothman goes down for an 8 count late in the round. Sebastian recovers to stagger Montana in the 12th with an uppercut. Montana lands well in the 14th and Rothman's eye is almost completely closed by this point. Montana takes the final round and the unanimous decision and the EBC cruiserweight championship by a score of 144-141 twice and 144-142. Montana comes into the fight in the shape of his life while Rothman figured him to be a soft touch. Heavyweight Vittorio Campolo (#22) scores a surprise knockout over Mike Schreck (#3) in round 2 of their contest. Schreck comes out firing as always, and he staggers the Italian with a hard uppercut 20 seconds in. Schreck opens up and Campolo gets hammered in the corner, raising a slight eye swelling early. Campolo lands a perfect body shot in round 2 that completely takes the starch out of Schreck. Campolo fires again and again as Scheck covers up in the corner, until finally Campolo lands a left hook that floors Schreck. Mike tries valiantly, but he just can't beat the count. This is a serious step backwards for Schreck who has looked great since his titlefight loss to Zora Folley, while Campolo should get a huge boost in the rankings. Light heavyweight Henry Maske (#6) wins a unanimous decision over Nicky Piper (#9) in 10 rounds where Maske fights dirty. Maske methodically outworks Piper early, though Nicky lands a flush right hand in round 2. Maske is winning the 4th, when Piper lands a crushing right hand that drives Henry to the corner with his head ringing. Maske hits Piper low when he recovers his wits and it costs him a point and the crowd boos the blatant foul. Piper puts Maske on the run in the 5th, and Henry again fouls the Brit, landing a hard head-butt that costs him another point. Piper takes the 6th, but he looks very tired from chasing the German as well as the earlier shot to the jewels. Maske mostly stays at long range late, and Piper barely touches him. Maske takes the unanimous decision, but the fouls make it closer on the cards than it was in the ring 95-94 twice and 97-92 all for Henry Maske. Light heavyweight Chic Calderwood (#13) wins a unanimous decision over Tommy Dragon (#10) in 10 rounds. Calderwood starts landing right hooks early, and Dragon is wobbled in the 1st. Dragon boxes well in the 2nd, and Calderwood looks for the home run. Tommy is winning the 3rd when Calderwood drops a nice left hook to the chin that puts Dragon on the run for the rest of the round whild Chic tees off. Dragon does some nice work, displaying the busier hands in the 4th, but Calderwood hurts Tommy again in the 5th, laying into him with a ferocious body attack. There is some nice action the next couple rounds, but Calderwood seems to break down Dragon's defense to land more and more right hands. Suddenly Dragon lands a big right hand to begin the 8th, so he gets brave and Calderwood catches him with a left hook counter that drops Tommy for a 2 count as the round ends. Dragon aggressively tries for the knockout in the last 2 rounds, but Calderwood takes the unanimous decision

LHW(T)Joe Knight (Chmp, 9-2-0, 4KO) TKOby5 Charles Williams (#2, 8-1-1, 4KO)

HWArt Weigand (#13, 8-5-1, 1KO) L10 Neil Clisby (#21, 10-5-1, 2KO)

Prince Charles Williams (#2) is the new EBC light heavyweight champion, scoring a 5th round cuts TKO over now former champion Joe Knight (Chmp). In round 1 Knight keeps Williams on the end of his jab until Charles lands a right cross that stuns Joe and cuts his eyebrow. Knight again works the jab in round 2, but he tears a muscle in his shoulder, reducing his effectiveness big-time. Williams suffers a swelling eye from the early round jabs. Joe rips Williams with a series of hooks in round 3, and Williams' eye worsens. Williams backs Knight into a corner and fires right hands in round 4, reopening the cut and making for a hard round for the champion. Williams presses his advantage, hammering Knight upstairs with hooks until the cut fairly pours gore. The doctor takes a look and calls it. Williams wins the title on a cuts TKO. Now David Telesco (#1) is clamoring for a match with Williams who he knocked cold 4 1/2 months ago. Heavyweight Cleveland Williams scores a 7th round knockout over Santiago Lovell, who was knocked down an incredible 7 times over a 12 round decision last time the pair met. Williams wastes no time in punishing Lovell on the inside, and Santiago looks tired early. Lovell stuns Cleve with a straight right hand in the 3rd, and Williams eats some leather upstairs. The pair go toe-to-toe in the 4th, with both men wobbled by the committed power punching. Williams floors Santiago for an 8 count in the 5th, with a big uppercut, but Lovell takes it and he's ready to mix again. Santiago lands a right hand that floors Williams for a 5 count in the 7th, and the crowd explodes, seeing Lovell come back so strong from the beating he was receiving. It turns around very quickly though, and Williams drops Lovell with a right hand halfway through round 7, and Santiago stays down this time. Williams defeats Lovell again, getting the knockout this time. Middleweight Young Stuhley (#5) scores a 9th round TKO over Frank Tate (#6) in an entertaining matchup. Stuhley lands a big right hand that floors Tate for a 4 count 30 seconds in, and Stuhley presses his advantage landing power punches with impunity the next few rounds. Tate's eye begins to swell, so he starts to fight with more urgency, landing well on Stuhley in the 4th. Stuhley takes the 6th, countering the newly aggressive Tate's ears off. Tate lands well again in the 8th, but Stuhley is much fresher and he lands a huge body shot early in the 9th that breaks 2 of Tate's ribs and Frank drops to a knee in agony. The referee stops the contest without a count. Heavyweight Neil Clisby wins a come from behind unanimous decision victory over Art Weigand in 10 rounds. Weigand lands a huge right cross that wobbles Clisby in round 2, and Neil is staggered again in the 3rd, but he retaliates with a jab that cuts Weigand near an eye. The next several rounds are action packed and razor close. Weigand scores with a big shot in the 7th that almost floors Neil, and Clisby looks finished. In round 9 Clisby recovers to land an uppercut on the inside that drops Art for an 8 count. Clisby takes the final round and it is the difference in the scoring 95-94 twice and 96-95 for Neil Clisby.

EBC middleweight champion Harry Greb (Chmp) scores a savage 5th round knockout of overmatched Enzo Fiermonte (#2). Greb savages the Italian in round 1, landing swarming combinations, but Fiermonte gets on his bike to outjab Greb in the 2nd. Greb works him into a corner in the 3rd, but Fiermonte counters well enough to make the round close. Greb staggers Enzo in the 4th with a hard uppercut, and then he unleashes a furious rally, landing at least 10 hard punches in the final 30 seconds of the round. Fiermonte is still groggy because Greb's first overhand right lead in round 5 drops him for a 5 count. 2 more hard right crosses put Fiermonte down for good. Greb defends his crown with a 5th round knockout. Middleweight Tiger Flowers (#3) wins a unanimous decision over Gene "Ace" Armstrong (#4) in 12 rounds. Both men are talented technicians, but Flowers beats Armstrong to the punch early, and he uses tricky movement and footwork to mostly stay out of harm's way. Armstrong flurries in the 5th, but the momentum fizzles into a boring class on feinting the next few rounds. Flowers has a good 7th, after backing Armstrong into a corner. Armstrong takes the 9th, picking up the pace a bit. Flowers responds in kind in the 10th, and a nice violent exchange is the result. Tiger wins the 11th, but is penalized a point for a low blow that only the referee saw. Flowers brings it home in the final round to cement the unanimous decision victory. Flowers is almost certain to be named the #1 contender when August's rankings are released. Heavyweight Sal Ruggirello (#20) scores a quick TKO of Amos Johnson (#19) in a questionable stoppage. Ruggirello stuns Amos right out of the box, and then he swarms Johnson with winging right hands until the action is stopped, over Amos' protests, with 6 seconds left in round 1. Heavyweight Earnie Shavers (#12) scores an 8th round TKO of German slugger Hans Kalbfell (#16) knocking him down 5 times in a barnburner. Kalbfell stings Shavers in round 1 and 2, and Earnie mostly misses. Shavers lands a wicked left hook to the body that floors Kalbfell briefly in the 3rd, and Kalbfell eats more hard right hands. Kalbfell visits the canvas again the next round from an uppercut, but he's up at 3, and he's recovered enough to land 3 flush right hands in round 5, putting Shavers on the defensive. Kalbfell lands a hard right at the beginning of round 6, but Shavers lands a left hook that wobbles Hans again late in the round. Shavers gets the right home to drop Hans 3 times in the 8th round, and referee Cappucino stops the contest as the round ends.

Cruiserweight Carlos Cruzat (#1) scores a 7th round knockout of tough Donnell Wingfield (#4). Cruzat comes in looking flabby, but he looks great in the 1st, staggering Donnell with a ferocious attack upstairs. Cruzat also takes a torrid 2nd round that sees Wingfield fire back to good effect. Both fighters look winded in the 3rd, but Cruzat drops Wingfield with a clean right cross in the 4th, and Donnell barely beats the count. Cruzat punishes Wingfield the rest of the round and Wingfield's right eye puffs up. Cruzat slows again allowing Wingfield to land some snapping hooks in the 5th. Cruzat floors Donnell again with a stunning uppercut in the 6th, but Donnell is up at 6. Cruzat hammers him unmercifully in round 7, and after breaking down his defense Cruzat lands a huge right hand that drops Wingfield who just misses beating the count. Super middleweight Antwun Echols (#1) scores a 1st round knockout over Anwar Oshana (#4) in a brief shootout. Echols works the body early in round 1, and Oshana responds with a hard hook upstairs. Echols hurts Anwar late in the round with a nasty uppercut, and drops him for the full count with another uppercut landed right at the bell. Echols stands head and shoulders above every other super middleweight, and he continues to wait for a proper matchup to meet him for the vacant title. Light heavyweight Philadelphia Jack O'Brien (#5) wins a lopsided unanimous decision over Toshiaki Suzuki (#11) in a monstrous mismatch. O'Brien uses his brilliant footwork and long reach to completely outclass the rookie Suzuki, pounding him in every round until Suzuki has a nice rally in the 6th. O'Brien regains his mastery to win every other round and the unanimous decision. Middleweight Jose Basora (#12) wins a bruising unanimous decision over Billy Soose (#14) in 10 rounds. Soose is winning round 1, when late in the round he lands a flush left hook followed by a really obviously intentional headbutt, nearly sparking a free for all with both fighter's seconds threatening to come into the ring. Basora stuns Billy with a hard right cross in the 2nd, and Soose flees. Round 4 is a great action round when Basora catches Soose in the corner landing a big right cross, forcing Soose to use his excellent handspeed to counter well out of the corner. Soose is a little worn down after the exchange, and Basora opens up in the 5th, just pummeling Soose with overhand rights. Early in the 6th, Basora lands a flush right hand that drops Billy for a 7 count. Billy hardly throws a punch and Basora roughs him up the rest of the round. Soose cautiously pecks away, apparently recovered in the 7th, when Basora lands another right hand from hell that wobbles Billy again and starts both his eyes swelling. Soose lands a flush right hand in the final round, but Jose shakes it off and continues the battering of Soose to cement the unanimous decision.
