Heavyweight Gerald "Tuffy" Griffiths (#5) scores an 8th round knockout of crude slugger Sal Ruggirello (#15). After a feeling out round, the bombs come out in round 2, and both men are staggered more than once with Griffith landing more often. Ruggirello starts the 3rd with a hard uppercut, but Griffiths bounces back to dominate the last 2 minutes of the round. Sal works the body to good effect in the 4th, making Griffiths shudder once. Ruggirello is gassed by the 5th and Griffiths takes advantage, beating Sal to the punch over and over. Sal hits Griffiths low in the 6th, costing him a point but slowing Tuffy down. Ruggirello gets a little brave so predictably Griffiths drops him with a counter left hook for a 3 count in the 7th. In round 8 Griffiths scores a flash knockdown with a right hand, then he hammers Sal until he goes down for the count from a viscious body punch. Middleweights George Benton (#10) and Young Stuhley (#3) fight to a 10 round draw. Stuhley lands a couple hard shots right away, but Benton isn't really hurt. George starts to work the body in round 2, and Stuhley mostly tries to avoid the shots. The action slows quite a bit in the 3rd, but Stuhley electrifies the crowd by backing Benton onto the ropes and letting fly in round 4. Stuhley continues to set up the right hand with a triphammer jab, and Benton's face starts to swell up near an eye. Stuhley has a great 7th round when Benton really starts to have trouble with the eye. Benton, who had looked very weary, flurries in the 9th, and Stuhley is rocked a couple of times. The 10th is another high-pressure experience for Stuhley and the final scorecards read 96-94 Benton, 95-95 and 98-94 for Stuhley, a draw. Light heavyweight Chic Calderwood (#9) scores an 8th round knockout of Nicky Piper (#14). Piper starts cold, so Calderwood takes the first few rounds convincingly. Nicky finally decides to make a fight of it in round 5 when the two trade power punches on the inside. Chic resumes command in the 6th, and Piper begins to tire. Nicky hurts Chic with a hard right cross in the 7th, but Calderwood fights back hard at the end of the round. Calderwood lands a beauty of an overhand right late in the 8th, and Piper goes down unable to rise. Middleweight Billy Angelo (#13) scores a 7th round knockout of Michael Olajide (#11). In round 1 Angelo lands a couple jabs, then a wide right cross that drops Olajide for an 8 count. Michael covers up and Angelo doesn't land much before the end of the round. The pair trade some nice shots in the 2nd, and Olajide wobbles Angelo while raising a swelling in round 3 with an uppercut late in the round. Olajide keeps up the pressure in the 4th, and Angelo is wobbled again. Both men aggressively flurry in round 5 bringing the crowd to it's feet in the final 30 seconds of the round. After 2 minutes of feinting, Angelo lands a left hook that drops Olajide again in round 6, and Mike is reeling after rising at 3. Olajide survives the round, but Angelo lands another uppercut that Mike doesn't even see early in the 7th,and Olajide goes down for the full count this time.

LHWHenry Maske (#4, 9-4-0, 2KO) W10 Prentiss Hall (#10, 5-3-1, 0KO)

HWFranco Cavicchi (#17, 2-0-0, 2KO) TKO4 Johnny Ziegler (#18, 1-1-0, 0KO)

Heavyweight Sinan Samil Sam (#13) scores a thrilling 6th round knockout of Earnie Shavers (#8) in a sweet brawl. As advertised both men come out throwing bombs, and each has their knees buckled in the 1st. Shavers get him rocky with a left hook in the 2nd, and Sam takes a pounding before he wobbles Shavers at the end of the round. Sam has a huge 3rd round, punishing Shavers to the body before wobbling him with an uppercut late in the round. Sam continues to connect, and Shavers continues to stagger, but it's Sam who blows up on an eye in the 4th. Shavers staggers Sam with a left hook early in the 5th, but he tires after landing a few shots. Sam comes back to floor Shavers with a straight right in the 6th, and Earnie is up at 3 but looking really tired. Sam wings steaming right hands at Shavers until he catches him with a straight one that puts Earnie down for the full count. Light heavyweight Henry Maske (#4) wins a 10 round unanimous decision over Prentiss Hall (#10). After a feeling out round, Maske completely outboxes Hall, making the American look silly missing in the 2nd. Hall lands a hard hook in the 3rd, but he has trouble finding Maske consistently. Hall finally finds a way to deal with Maske's tricky movement when he shoves him into a corner to land some hard hooks in the 6th. It's Hall's high water mark though, and Maske finishes strongly, working the angles and using his better hand speed to cement the unanimous decision victory. Junior middleweight Michael Lerma (#4) wins a 10 round unanimous decision over Mimoun Mohatar (#2). Lerma more or less dictates the action early, landing the harder shots with his superior firepower. Lerma staggers Mimoun badly in the 4th with a nice uppercut, but he fights back throwing power punches of his own in round 5, a round of the year candidate. Mohatar doesn't have much left after this flurry and Lerma punishes him while he meekly covers up for a few rounds. Lerma floors Mohatar with an uppercut that Mimoun moves into in round 8. Mohatar is up at 2, but he runs into another uppercut that drops him for a 6 count. Mimoun survives the round, but he wobbles on the way back to his corner. Mohatar has a nice 10th round, aggressively battering Lerma who mostly backpedals, but Lerma takes the unanimous decision. In a battle of heavyweight youngsters, Franco Cavicchi (#17) scores a cuts TKO in 4 rounds over Johnny Ziegler (#18). Cavicchi stays busier early, but it is mostly a pushing and holding contest for the first couple of rounds. Ziegler is winning the 3rd when he stuns the Italian with a right hand. Then Johnny zips home a left hook that knocks Cavicchi down briefly as the round ends. Cavicchi pulls it together to come back strong, and he lands a jab early in the 4th that cuts Ziegler badly on an eyebrow. In a controversial decision the referee stops the fight immediately.

LHWJack O'Brien (#3, 6-1-0, 1KO) TKO9 Eric Harding (#5, 6-3-1, 1KO)

HWJim Maloney (#20, 2-0-0, 2KO) KO2 Rocky Knight (#21, 11-5-2, 4KO)

Heavyweight Rosco Toles (#7) wins a split decision over former EBC champ Jimmy Young (#2) in 10 rounds. For a fight between great defensive fighters there is a lot of action early, and the first several rounds are razor close with Toles being the more active. Young takes control of the proceedings in round 4, rattling Toles with hooks upstairs off Jimmy's lightning fast jab. Toles takes the 5th and 6th when Jimmy goes into a trance, not landing much of anything. Toles continues to outwork Young in the 8th, but the scoring is very close. Young's gotten his rest, so he flurries in the 9th and 10th, and it's Toles' turn to look gassed. Young's late rounds sleepwalk costs him the fight as Rosco Toles wins a split decision 95-96, 97-94 and 96-95. Young has lost 3 of his last 5 fights and his status as an elite heavyweight is in doubt. Light heavyweight Philadelphia Jack O'Brien (#3) scores a cuts TKO over Eric Harding (#5) in 9. O'Brien flashes amazing hand speed in the 1st, but Harding comes back strong in round 2, scoring well upstairs. O'Brien lands a straight right that gives Harding a cut on his nose in the 3rd. O'Brien reopens the cut in the 5th and the doctor takes a look, prompting Harding to aggressively hammer O'Brien the rest of the round. O'Brien slickly jabs from the outside in the 6th, and Harding hasn't the energy to cut off the ring anymore. OBrien reopens the cut again in the 9th, and this time the referee stops it. Super middleweight Librado Andrade (#2) wins a unanimous decision over tough Bryant Brannon (#3) in 10 rounds. Brannon scores with counters early, until Andrade stuns him with a body shot. Then Bryant returns fire with a hook upstairs that drops Librado for a 4 count at the bell. Andrade flurries big in the 3rd, and Brannon almost goes down from an overhand right. Brannon starts the 5th with a strong uppercut, but Andrade fights back to land a big right cross that blasts Brannon to the ropes with his head ringing. Andrade takes advantage working upstairs mostly, and Brannon looks really tired walking to his corner. Andrade continues to have his way in the middle rounds, but Brannon uses his defensive saavy to survive. Andrade has a big 9th round when Brannon plants his feet to trade. Brannon takes the final round, landing a couple hard uppercuts, but Andrade takes the unanimous decision by a wide margin. Andrade is now the front runner to face Antwun Echols for the vacant title. He needs one more victory before that fight will be sanctioned. Young heavyweight Jim Maloney (#20) scores a one punch knockout of Rocky Knight (#21) in 2. Maloney gets a sneaky right hand home early in the 2nd, and Knight goes down and out in a short one.

In a battle of top middleweight contenders, Tiger Flowers (#1) wins a unanimous decision over James Toney (#2) in 12 rounds. Flowers jabs Toney apart early, but Toney lands at least one flush right hand per round. Toney wins the 5th, stringing together some nice shots, but Flowers connects with a hard head-butt that starts James' eye swelling. Flowers backs Toney into a corner and drops a perfect uppercut that floors James for a 5 count in round 6. Toney looks woozy and Flowers stays elusive while jabbing in the middle rounds. Flowers wins the 8th but he scores with a shoulder on the inside that costs him a point. James staggers Tiger late in the 9th with a hard right hand. The action slows again, but James has his swollen eye thumbed and it blows up even worse. Toney gets really aggressive in the final round, but Flowers counters him to shreds putting the finishing touches on a unanimous decision win 115-112 all around for Tiger Flowers. Light heavyweight Lloyd Marshall (#6) in his first fight since his 2nd championship bout against Joe Knight, scores a 5th round knockout of Bert Gilroy (#11) in a rematch. After a feeling out round, Marshall drops Gilroy for a flash knockdown late in the 2nd with a right cross off the jab. The action returns to a snail's pace, and Gilroy wins a couple rounds with the busier hands. Marshall lands a heavy right hand early in the 5th, and Gilroy hangs on. Marshall swarms the Welshman with combinations until he finally goes down, mush too shaken to beat the count. Heavyweight prospect Henry Akinwande (#14) wins a unanimous decision from veteran Neil Clisby (#16) in 12 rounds. Akinwande lands some nice right hands early, but he's cautioned for excessive holding in the 1st. Clisby has a good 3rd round, but the action is slow with many clinches. Akinwande hurts Neil in the 4th with a right cross, but he fights back hard on the inside. Akinwande really pummels Clisby in the 5th, but Neil survives by covering up. The action ceases in the 6th, but early in the 7th Henry lands a right to the chest that drops Clisby for a 7 count. Akinwande returns to the blistering body attack to score 2 more flash knockdowns in the round including a borderline low blow. Akinwande is satisfied with his points lead, in spite of losing a point for a low blow in the 10th, so he cautiously jabs the rest of the fight, and takes the unanimous decision. Junior middleweight Andrew Facey (#5) wins a unanimous decision over Gilbert Eastman (#3) in a very entertaining tussle. Both men have servicable defenses so the action starts slow, but Facey lands a couple hard right hands early. In round 2 both men throw tentative punches until Facey lands a terrific body punch that drops the surprised Eastman for an 8 count. Eastman rebounds in the 3rd, but he shows a pronounced swelling around an eye. Eastman staggers Andrew with a left hook counter in round 5, but Facey fights back hard to make the round even, while bringing those in attendance to their feet. Eastman is gassed in the 6th and Facey takes over, punishing Eastman on the inside. Eastman's eye is almost completely shut by the 9th, and Facey scores well on that side. Eastman flurries in the final round, but it's not enough as Facey takes the unanimous decision.
