Middleweight Harry Greb (#1) scores an 8th round TKO over Billy Cribbs (#2) in a battle of top middleweights. Greb swarms Cribbs with punches from every angle, and Cribbs just can't deal with that kind of pressure, barely even throwing a punch early. Cribbs has a swollen eye as early as round 2, and Greb takes full advantage. Cribbs gets a visit from the doctor in round 4, then he desperately lands his best haymaker on the jaw of Greb, who wobbles for a second. Cribbs has a great 5th round going punch for punch with Greb, when he's penalized for a head butt. Cribbs looks deflated from then on, and Greb hammers him until the ref finally stops it because of Cribbs' eye at the end of round 8. Cruiserweight Carlos Cruzat (#3) knocks out Joey DeGrandis (#2) in round 4 of their fight. Cruzat knocks DeGrandis down for a 4 count in the opening round, and DeGrandis takes a pounding early. Cruzat nails him with a perfect uppercut in round 4, and DeGrandis goes down and out. Light heavyweight Al Gainer (#5) scores a 6th round TKO over Vonzell Johnson (#9) in a great fight. Gainer lands some heavy shots through round 1, but Johnson stuns him with a body punch as the round expires. Round 2 is a possible round of the year candidate, with Gainer stunning Johnson twice before Vonzell hurts Gainer and opens fire when Al staggers into a corner. Al starts to get off first again and Johnson sports a small mouse on his left eye after round 4. Johnson wins the 5th with a series of smashing right hands at the end of the round. Gainer stuns Johnson with an uppercut, then drops him for a 6 count with a straight right hand in round 6. Johnson gets up, but he absorbs a couple more bombs before the referee rescues him from his own bravery. Middleweight Roland Todd (#13) scores a clean knockout of Freddie Cabral (#3) in the 8th round of their fight. Todd has remarkable defensive skills, and he uses them to good effect keeping Cabral off balance and swinging at air early. Cabral wins a round or two with his aggressiveness, but Todd's superior skills give him the edge in scoring through 6. Todd plants his feet when he senses Cabral tiring, and he knocks Freddie down in the final round and though Cabral gets to one knee, he can't beat the count.

Heavyweight Rosco Toles (#9) cruises to a 12 round decision victory over Louis Monaco (#19). Toles easily outclasses Monaco early, and Monaco only looks good in a couple of rounds. Toles by unanimous decision. Cruiserweight Jean-Marc Mormeck (#1) wins a unanimous decision over Christophe Girard (#5) in 10 rounds. Mormeck continually stings Girard with hard shots, and Girard goes down for a flash knockdown as round 2 ends. Girard takes it all unflinchingly until round 5 when Mormeck hurts him and he covers up. Girard wins the 7th and 8th when Mormeck rests for a bit. Mormeck finishes strong and takes the unanimous decision. Heavyweight Al Kubiak (#18) scores a 1st round knockout of heavily favored Earnie Shavers (#17). Shavers stings Kubiak with the first right hand, and he absorbs a couple more before, incredibly Kubiak lands a big uppercut that knocks Shavers cold. Middleweight Young Stuhley (#9) wins a unanimous decision over Giovanni DeMarco (#4) in 8 rounds. Stuhley dictates the early action with an educated jab, and DeMarco seems confused and wild. DeMarco wins the 5th, bulling on the inside, but mostly it's Stuhley who dominates right to the final bell.

Light heavyweight Joe Knight (#3), the "Cairo Calamity", wins the vacant EBC light heavyweight crown with a unanimous decision over Lloyd Marshall (#1) in 15 rounds. The action is sparse early, with Marshall stalking the elusive Knight. Knight catches Marshall with a counter right that rocks Marshall back to the ropes late in the 3rd. Knight lands some crisp combinations in round 4 and Marshall doesn't do much in return. The tricky Knight keeps Marshall off balance with his footwork, and Marshall has trouble landing any hard punches in the middle rounds. Knight raises a swelling with his sharp jabs by round 7, and Marshall starts to look slow and weary. Knight staggers Marshall, crossing over his jab with a right hand to the chin in the 8th. Marshall finally catches Knight with a big uppercut in the 9th. Knight wobbles into the corner and Marshall roughs him up on the inside the rest of the round. Marshall is punched out in the 10th as Knight unloads power punches of his own driving Marshall back and worsening the swelling on Lloyd's eye. Marshall comes back strong in the 11th, raking Knight with hooks, and Knight's defense looks sloppy compared to his earlier mastery. Both fighters land almost every punch they throw in the 12th, and both men shoot their gloves in the air after the round. Both men plant their feet to trade in the 14th, and Knight has a big rally getting there first with his great hand speed. Knight cautiously works behind the jab in the final round and Joe takes the unanimous decision 144-141, 143-142 and 145-142. Knight becomes the first EBC Light Heavyweight Champion. Heavyweight Paul Cavalier (#6) wins a unanimous decision over Herb Narvo (#12) in 12 hard fought rounds. Narvo has a great first round, outgunning Cavalier on the inside. Cavalier adjusts and Narvo starts to catch more than throw. Narvo starts to swell on his eye in the 4th, but he stings Cavalier with an uppercut as the round ends. Narvo hammers Cavalier in the 5th, bulling forward behind meaty hooks to the body. Cavalier lands several sharp counterpunches that worsen Narvo's eye in the 6th. Narvo wilts in the 7th, and Cavalier sharpshoots the bad eye. Narvo starts to carry his arms low in the 9th, and Cavalier lands right hands with workmanlike efficiency. Narvo comes on strong in the 11th, cutting Paul with a left hook, but Cavalier rips into him with straight counters in the last half of the round. Narvo doesn't land a punch in the last round and Cavalier wins the round and takes the unanimous decision. Heavyweight Johnny DuPlooy (#14) wins a unanimous decision over Scott Frank (#20) in 12 rounds. DuPlooy loads up the heavy artillery from the very start and Frank is staggered a couple times in the first. Frank is countinually wobbled through 3 rounds, but Frank finds an answer for DuPlooy's left hook when a straight right hand rattles DuPlooy momentarily as round 4 ends. Frank presses his advantage hammering DuPlooy with right hands i the 5th. Both fighters look punched out after the 5th, and the crowd boos the lack of action lustily. DuPlooy staggers Frank again in the 9th, but he's too tired to finish him. DuPlooy drops Frank for a 9 count with another big uppercut, and Frank barely survives, sporting a huge mouse under his eye after the round. DuPlooy gets sloppy in the 11th, and Frank catches him with a right hand counter that hurts DuPlooy. Frank desperately tries to put him away, but DuPlooy survives the round. Frank has a good rally to finish, but DuPlooy takes the unanimous decision. Super middleweight Antwun Echols (#4) wins a majority decision over Steve Little (#5) in 10 rounds. Little wins the first, smartly boxing from the outside. Echols staggers Little with an uppercut early in the 2nd, and Little eats several flush shots that raise a swelling on his eye. Echols wildly swings for the fence as Little outboxes him, but occasionally Echols lands a flush uppercut. Little hits him low in round 5, costing Steve a point, and the enraged Echols punishes him the rest of the round on the inside. Echols nails him again with a perfect uppercut in round 7, and the wobbling Little's eye gets worse. Little slickly dominates the final round, but Echols takes the decision by a surprisingly close score of 96-94, 95-95 and 97-93.

LHWDavid Telesco (#8, 4-1-0, 2KO) W10 Nathan Logan (#11, 2-2-0, 1KO)

Light heavyweights Prince Charles Williams (#2) and Eric Harding (#4) fight to a draw in 10. The fight is very slow to start, but by round 3 Harding's excellent head movement has Charles missing and eating counter hooks. Harding dictates the pace until Williams lands the big shot he's been waiting for late in the 6th round. Harding staggers to the ropes and Williams lands a couple more haymakers before the round ends. Williams continues the furious attack in round 7 and Harding plays defense exclusively. Williams stings him again in the 8th, but Harding lands counter after counter in the sloppy follow up by Williams allowing Eric to win the round and raising a swelling on Williams' eye. Williams almost puts him down in the 9th when Harding ducks into a left hook, but Harding again survives, though he also sports some puffiness under an eye after this round. Williams hammers Harding in the final round, and the final verdict is a razor close draw 96-95, 95-96 and 96-96. Heavyweight contender Mike Schreck (#5) takes a unanimous decision over newcomer Friday Ahunanya (#22) in 10 rounds. Ahunanya blitzes Schreck in the first round, swarming him with wild shots. Schreck absorbs them nicely and fights back hard in the 2nd, wobbling Ahunanya while on the inside. The pair proceed to trade bombs for the next couple rounds, with Schreck doing the better work. Ahunanya starts to slow in the 5th, and Schreck takes full advantage. By the end of round 8 Schreck has a clear advantage in scoring, though neither fighter is close to hurt. Ahunanya clutches most of the final 2 rounds, and Schreck takes the decision. Middleweight James Toney (#10) fights to a draw with Gene "Ace" Armstrong (#8) in 10 rounds. It's a dull fight, between two exceptional defensive fighters with great chins. Armstrong has a big rally in the 5th, but Toney is unhurt. Toney gets it going again in the 7th, when Armstrong rests a bit. Toney lands a big uppercut as round 8 ends, and Armstrong's knee almost touches the canvas. Armstrong wins the last round, salvaging a majority draw. Light heavyweight David Telesco (#8) wins a unanimous decision over Nathan "Deacon" Logan (#11) in 10 rounds. No jabs at all in the early action, as both men land stinging power punches exclusively. Late in the 3rd Telesco has a good rally that sees Logan wobbly and covering up. Logan wilts after that, and Telesco aggressively pressures the Deacon on the inside through the middle rounds. Round 7 is a beauty with Logan moving away landing counter left hooks, until Telesco land 2 smashing right hands that again stagger Logan. Telesco resumes the rough treatment on the inside in round 8, and Logan doesn't do very much. Logan wins the 10th round with a desperate rally but it's not nearly enough.
