In what should have been a tasty matchup of top sluggers, light heavyweight Prince Charles Williams (#1) scores a cuts TKO in 2 rounds over Al Gainer (#2). Each fighter lands a huge bomb in round 1, each trading power punches with nary a jab in the ring. Early in round 2 Williams lands a nasty hook that cuts Gainer on an eyelid. Gainer fights on for about a minute before the referee stops the fight. Super middleweight Antwun Echols (#1) scores a 2nd round knockout of Ibrahim Uzunkaya (#3). Echols staggers Uzunkaya in the very 1st round, and the Belgium is never in the fight, taking the full count in round 2 from a thudding combination. Middleweight Roland Todd (#3) scores a 7th round TKO of game Roscoe Bell (#9). Todd dominates the action with accurate hooks up top in the 1st. Bell lands a terrific right hand early in the 2nd, and Todd staggers into defensive mode. Todd isn't recovered in round 3 and 4 and Bell roughs him up. Bell looks punched out, and Todd comes back strongly showing great footwork and leverage. Todd drops Bell with a body punch in round 7, but Bell is up at the count of 5. Todd takes his time and lands 2 viscious right hands before the referee stops the fight. Middleweight Enzo Fiermonte (#15) wins a majority decision over Kirino Garcia (#14) in 8 rounds. Fiermonte probes with the jab, and lands uppercuts anytime Garcia gets near early. Fiermonte is penalized after round 2 for a right hand after the bell. Garcia goes to the body to good effect in round 3, but Fiermonte and his solid jab dictate the action in the middle rounds. Garcia mounts a nice comeback the last 2 rounds, but Fiermonte takes the majority decision.

MWJames Toney (#8, 2-0-1, 2KO) TKO5 Kelly Pavlik (#13, 1-1-0, 1KO)

EBC Heavyweight champion Jimmy Young (Chmp) defends his title without much trouble, defeating Gunboat Smith (#3) with a unanimous decision in 15. Young easily outclasses Smith, working from the outside and safely securely puts a licking on Smith. Smith actually wins a round or 2 when he strings together a few flush right hands, but the iron chinned Young largely dominates the action, even hitting Smith low costing him a point, in the middle rounds. Young is penalized another point in the 7th, a round he was winning, for hitting after the bell. Smith wobbles Young badly in the 9th with a right hand, then he lands several consecutive power punches to the head, which Young amazingly absorbs. Young fights a frustratingly slow fight after that, barely winning almost every round late. Smith wings in power punches when he hurts Young in the final round, but Young stays on his feet to win the one sided unanimous decision, even though he's penalized two points. Young will face his mandatory #1 contender, Tommy Farr (#1), next February. Heavyweight Cleveland Williams (#11) scores a 6th round knockout of tough Frankie Simms (#15). Williams is just murder on the inside, and Simms takes a huge beating in the 1st round, barely staying on his feet. Simms who swells on an eye, recovers to trade all power punches at ring center in the early rounds, actually staggering Williams four or five times in the furious exchanges which Williams still wins. Cleveland drops Simms with a straight bodypunch for an 8 count in the 5th. Williams goes to the body again flooring Simms for another 8 count as the 5th ends. Simms staggers Williams with a right cross in the 6th, but Cleveland goes to the head dropping Simms for a 2 count. Simms gets up but runs into another shot the the kidney that puts the brave Simms down and out. Heavyweight Larry Middleton (#9) wins a unanimous decision over Al Kubiak (#10) in 12 rounds. Middleton wins the early rounds with a higher workrate, but Kubiak hurts him with some thudding shots. Middleton land some nice counters in the 5th, and Kubiak starts to look weary from chasing the slippery Middleton. Kubiak wins the 6th, but it's a last gasp and Middleton dominates late, rattling Kubiak with uppercuts on the inside. Middleton wins the final 4 rounds to take the unanimous decision. Middleweight James Toney (#8) scores a 5th round cuts TKO over outclasses Kelly Pavlik (#13). Pavlik hurts Toney with a right hand counter early in the 1st, and he follows up with some hard right hands, so Toney clinches and head butts Pavlik twice. Toney recovers and plants his feet to wing power punches on Pavlik, who doesn't have a good defense, eating most of them and suffering a cut eye in round 2. Toney continues to land smashing hooks until Pavlik's other eye swells badly in the 4th. Pavlik lands a big overhand right to start the 5th, but Toney absolutely tears him apart on the inside, worsening the cut and prompting a stoppage.

SMWBryant Brannon (#6, 1-1-0, 0KO) TKOby8 Mikkel Kessler (#2, 2-0-0, 2KO)

Heavyweight Irish Tommy Martin (#6) scores an off the canvas TKO of tough Vittorio Campolo (#21) in 7 brutal rounds. Campolo shocks Martin, flooring him with an uppercut for a 6 count in the opening round. Martin hurts Campolo in the 2nd with a right hand, but Campolo wobbles Tommy as the round ends. Tommy uses his strength on the inside to win the next couple rounds. Martin catches Campolo with a perfect uppercut that drops Vittorio for a 6 count in round 5. Martin leaps on the hurt Italian in the 6th, flooring him 3 times with right hands. Campolo gamely rises each time, but Martin lands heavy in the 7th until the referee finally stops the slaughter. Light heavyweight Henry Maske (#6) wins a unanimous decision over Charley Horn (#10) in 10 rounds. Maske wins the first few rounds with his superb boxing skills, but Horn adjusts and actually wins the jabbing contest in round 4. Horn fatigues by round 6, and Maske easily keeps him at bay with the jab, clinching anytime Horn gets too near. Horn takes the 8th, going inside to score well to the body. Maske easily keeps Horn at bay the final 2 rounds to take the unanimous decision. Middleweight Young Stuhley (#4) gets off the deck to take a split decision victory over Steve McCall (#18) in 10. McCall stuns Stuhley with the very first right hand, and Stuhley sleepwalks the next 2 rounds getting floored with a wild right hand in the 2nd for a 4 count. Stuhley recovers and cautiously works behind the jab, while McCall has trouble repeating his early success, missing repeatedly. McCall finds Stuhley with some big shots in the 7th, but he's lost a bit of snap so Stuhley stays upright. Stuhley wins the 8th and 9th rounds convincingly with staccato punching and he opens a cut on McCall's eye in the 9th. McCall wins the 10th with strong body punching, but Stuhley takes the split decision. In a superb fight, super middleweight Mikkel Kessler (#2) rallies in the final round to stop Bryant Brannon (#6) on a cuts TKO in 8. Brannon has no trouble at all hitting Kessler in the 1st, and Kessler vainly pursues eating jabs and hooks the whole way. Kessler staggers Brannon early in the 2nd, but Brannon comes back to wobble Kessler late in the round, which is a dilly. The violence continues in the 3rd, with Brannon scoring big, then eating a huge uppercut that drops him for a 5 count. Brannon is completely recovered by round 5, and he punishes the now weary Dane with straight right hands. Kessler hurts Bryant again in the 7th, cutting him near an eye, but Bryant comes back strong, keeping Kessler off him by throwing combinations. Kessler targets the eye in the final round, and unbelievably the referee stops the contest with a minute left for the ugly cut. Brannon was ahead on all 3 scorecards, and Kessler pulls it out of the fire.

Cruiserweight Jean-Marc Mormeck (#1) wins a unanimous decision, getting off the canvas to dominate Carlos Cruzat (#2) in 10. Mormeck aggressively wins the 1st round with strong hooks on the inside, but Cruzat drops Mormeck for a 5 count with a crashing right hand early in the 2nd. Mormeck recovers nicely to stun Cruzat with a right cross in the 3rd, following up with a big rally. Mormeck continues to hammer Cruzat, easily winning the middle rounds from the tired and damaged Chilean. Mormeck slows the pace, carefully outworking Cruzat through 8. Mormeck brings it home, winning the unanimous decision and setting up a titlefight with Sebastian Rothman in the near future. Light heavyweight Eric Harding (#5) easily out boxes Chic Calderwood (#8) over 10 rounds to win a unanimous decision. Both fighters come out cracking, and Harding takes the first two rounds with excellent accuracy and footwork making the Scotsman miss repeatedly. Calderwood lands a couple good shots when he traps Harding in the corner in the 3rd. Harding scores with a left hook that gashes Calderwood's eye in the 6th, and Calderwood has a lot of trouble finding the elusive Harding after that. Calderwood's eye worsens and swells when Harding targets it with the jab, and Harding increasingly dominates the action. Calderwood gets Harding to trade in the 10th, but Harding takes the unanimous decision.Cruiserweight Sebastian Rothman (#3) scores a brutal TKO of James Salerno (#4) in 5 action packed rounds. Each fighter lands heavy shots early and the pair take turns dominating each round. Rothman hurts Salerno with a big hook on the inside, then catches him with an uppercut that drops him for a 9 count in round 5. Salerno gets up but takes a pounding until he's rescued. Rothman will fight Mormeck, who won his fight later in the evening, for the vacant EBC cruiserweight title. In the opener, middleweight Tommy Uren (#16) wins a split decision over Eddie Andrews (#11) in 10. Andrews is the aggressor early, but Uren who's a great counterpuncher with nice pop, controls the early action. In round 4 Andrews stings Tommy with a left hook that cuts him badly on an eye. The momentum shifts back to Tommy as Uren picks up the pace fearing a stoppage. Uren drops Andrews for a 4 count in round 9, and Andrews hangs on til the end. Uren takes the curiously close split decision.
