EBC - Cut Off Youth Center - Cut Off, LA
HWJohn P Clow (#7, 13-7-1, 4KO) L10 Mike Conley (#5, 9-3-1, 6KO)

Late in the very first round Conley lands a booming shot to the abdomen, and Clow takes a couple of steps to regain his senses. Conley lands some creative combinations in the 2nd, leaving Clow a bit befuddled with his advanced footwork. Clow picks up the pace in the 3rd and they go punch for punch at ring center for about 90 seconds bringing them to their feet as round 3 ends. The middle rounds belong to Clow, but a minute into round 6 Conley drops him with a shot to the liver for a 4 count. Conley punishes Clow upstairs for the rest of the round, and John's right eye puffs up from the hook. Conley is destroying Clow in the 7th, when suddenly Clow drops Mike with 30 seconds left in the round. Clow is punched out, and he looks grateful for the rest as round 7 ticks down. Conley lands a hammering uppercut early in the 8th, and then Clow hits Conley below the belt and referee Rocky Burke takes a point from John. Clow is angered and he scores to the body a couple more times before the bell. Conley scores with a tremendous right hand to the body about 1:20 into round 9, but he hangs on as Clow lands his jab late. Conley lands a viscious uppercut 20 seconds into the final round, and the rest of the fight sees Conley looking for an opening and usually finding one and Clow's eye puffs up tremendously as the clock expires. Mike Conley wins the razor close majority decision 95-93, 94-94 and 95-94 for Conley.

EBC - ABC Sports Complex - Springfield, VA
LWJack McAuliffe (#2, 7-0-0, 5KO) TKO2 Bill Mahan (#3, 10-5-0, 6KO)

30 seconds in McAuliffe lands an uppercut off the jab and Mahan drops to the canvas, rising at a count of 6. McAuliffe backs him into a corner and shoe-shines him with both hands to the body, Mahan momentarily staggers McAuliffe but Jack does it right back and the crowd comes to their feet hardly believing so much action could fit into a single round. McAuliffe keeps it running hot when he throws many lead rights to the body, until Mahan finally slumps to the canvas for a 5 count this time. The ref says Mahan is OK, so McAuliffe lands one huge uppercut that staggers him on the ropes and forces the referee's hand. Jack McAuliffe wins by technical knockout in round 2!

EBC - New Haven Arena - New Haven, CT
LW(R2)(T)Billy Dacey (#4, 6-4-0, 4KO) KO8 Bill Parker (Chmp, 8-7-0, 1KO)

Round 1 is strictly a feeling out round, though the champ is warned for using his shoulders. Dacey clearly takes round 2, but he also soaks up a warning for leaning on Parker's neck. Dacey picks up the pace in round 3, and the champion Parker has no answer but to eat uppercuts and right hands. Dacey wobbles the champion again early in round 4, and he does an OK job following up. Dacey drops Parker with another uppercut about a minute into the 5th, but Parker rises at 3 and Dacey is punched out for the rest of the round. Both men work cautiously from behind a high guard, but Parker manages to get a hard right hand home just as the round ends and Dacey staggers back to his corner. Round 7 begins slowly, but with a minute left Dacey floors the champion again for a 7 count this time. The referee sends him back in, and Dacey scores with a couple more uppercuts before the bell. The champion Parker looks done, and his legs are gone, but he comes out for the 8th round and he takes a beating until Dacey drops him for the full count with seconds left in round 8. The winner and NEW EBC Lightweight champion is Billy Dacey!

EBC - Baltimore Coliseum - Baltimore, MD
HW(R2)Peter Jackson (#1, 14-2-0, 9KO) L10 John L Sullivan (#2, 24-3-0, 17KO)

About 40 seconds into the bout Jackson is settling in, when Sullivan drops him with a hammer-blow right hook. Jackson is up at 3, and he's more embarrassed than hurt. The Great John L fires uppercuts and right hands until the first round is finally over. Jackson flurries late in round 2 to snatch the round from John L, and Sullivan wobbles the great aussie champion with a right hand late in the 3rd. Sullivan scores with a brutal right hand late in the 5th, and he hooks off the jab early in round 6, staggering "The Black Prince" and sending him skidding on the ropes. Jackson is staggered early in the 7th, and Sullivan pushes his advantage with a nasty uppercut as the 7th ends. Sullivan lands a right hand that sees Jackson reaching blindly for a rope to support himself in the 8th, and Sullivan takes the round solidly with a series of right hand leads. Jackson is scoring big in round 9, when Sullivan lands a hook to the body half-way through the round. Jackson rocks John L late in the 9th with blazing fast combinations. Jackson does a nice job of outworking the slower footed Sullivan in the final round, and the scorecards read 96-93 twice, and 95-94 for the winner by unanimous decision John L Sullivan. This avenges an 11th round TKO loss to Jackson in March of last year.

EBC - Desert Diamond Casino - Tuscon, AZ
HWJake Kilrain (#2, 26-7-0, 18KO) KO4 Mervine Thompson (#10, 5-4-0, 2KO)

Kilrain does some solid work to the body in round 1, but Thompson staggers the ex-champion with a right cross in the 2nd. Kilrain nails the "Cleveland Thunderbolt" with a head butt that cuts him badly on the nose late in round 2. They trade heavy shots at ring center early in the 3rd, but it's Jake who lands the much more effective shots. 30 seconds into round 4 Kilrain scores with a nasty right cross that floors the relative newcomer for the full 10 count. Jake Kilrain wins by 4th round knockout.

Matthews is on target with a series of uppercuts in the 1st that wobble Killen badly, and he continues to land a powerful uppercut in round 2 until he drops Killen for an 8 count at the bell. Matthews takes the 3rd with an amazingly accurate uppercut, but Killen staggers Dick right as the 3rd ends. Pat attacks Matthew's body in the 4th, but Matthews evens the score with a hard right hand at the bell. Pat scores with a heavy hook to the ribs to open round 6, but Matthews hammers him upstairs late in the round. Killen lands a crushing right cross early in the 7th, but with a minute left in the round Matthews drops Killen and try as he might Pat cannot rise from this calamity. EBC - Ice World - Totowa, NJ
LWJack McAuliffe (#2, 6-0-0, 4KO) TKO6 Sam Bittle (#5, 11-7-4, 5KO)

McAuliffe comes out swinging the right hand, and he drops Bittle twice by the end of the round. Bittle lands a couple shots in the 2nd, and he's cut by McAuliffe, but it's all Jack McAuliffe early. By round 4 Bittle's eye looks pretty bad, but Sam aquits himself well battling back in the 5th. McAuliffe lands a nasty hook that reopens the cut near Bittle's eye. The doctor has a look, and stops the fight immediately because of a dangerous cut near Bittle's eye. Jack McAuliffe wins by TKO in round 6 of his fight.

HWJohn P Clow (#9, 13-6-1, 4KO) W10 Patsy Cardiff (#5, 3-1-2, 1KO)

Clow staggers Cardiff straight away with an uppercut, and he just cleans up in round 1 completely dominating Patsy. Cardiff pulls it together in the 2nd, and he produces a nice even round. Clow staggers him again late in the 3rd with a nasty uppercut, and he clearly takes the round. Cardiff scores with a pair of hard uppercuts in round 4, but Clow traps Cardiff on the ropes late in round 4 to score a flash knockdown with again the uppercut. Cardiff makes an adjustment in round 5, which is a razor close round in the scoring. Cardiff looks gassed in the 6th, and Clow's snappy jab dictates the pace. Clow picks up a warning after a low blow early in the 7th, and Clow floors Cardiff twice before the round is over. Cardiff's legs are gone, but the ref says he's OK to fight. Clow clearly takes the 8th round, and Cardiff continues to deteriorate from the punishment. The 9th round sees the action slow to a trickle, and the final round is more of the same without a clear aggressor. The final scorecard shows a unanimous decision for John P Clow.

EBC - Graceland Casino - Secunda, South Africa
HWPaddy Ryan (#8, 14-11-0, 3KO) W10 Dominick McCaffrey (#10, 9-9-1, 6KO)

Ryan starts off the aggressor, and he traps McCaffrey on the ropes for much of the 1st round, peppering him with combinations. McCaffrey makes an adjustment in the 2nd, and he lands a nasty right cross upstairs that cuts Ryan on the eyebrow, one of the worst cuts possible in a boxing match. Ryan's corner gets the cut closed for the 3rd, and McCaffrey is only able to work the jab but one of them gets that cut bleeding freely again. One again Ryan's corner stops the cut before round 4, and the action slows as Ryan protects his fragile eyebrow which allows McCaffrey to take the 4th with authority. Dominick scores with some nasty shots to the body in the 5th, and Ryan slows up but he times McCaffrey's jab to land a big uppercut that floors McCaffrey for a 9 count late in the round. Dominick's legs are shot, and Ryan fires away with both hands. McCaffrey looks in surprisingly good shape to start the 6th, but Ryan does all the talking in the frame. McCaffrey is gassed by the 7th, so he fights in spurts which works pretty good as Ryan is still loath to mix because of his cut eye. Late in round 8 McCaffrey lands a nasty right hand that staggers Ryan, and sends him back to the corner with an uppercut to boot. Half-way through round 9 Ryan lands a deep dish right cross that floors Dom again for an 8 count this time. McCaffrey is about out on his feet with a newly puffy eye in the 9th, while Ryan hammers him on the ropes. Ryan attacks the weary man from Pittsburgh with gusto in the final round, and the final result is an expected unanimous decision for Paddy Ryan 96-92 twice, and 95-93. Ryan shows flash and wisdom in keeping a potentially disastrous cut from being a factor.

HWPat Killen (#5, 7-2-0, 6KO) KO3 CC Smith (#6, 4-2-0, 1KO)

Smith manhandles Killen in the 1st, and Pat has no answer for the wrestling, cuffing style Smith employs early. In round 2 Killen scores with a nice combination, ending with a thudding right cross that staggers Smith for a moment. August 11, 1884

EBC - Buffalo Run Casino - Miami, OK
LW(R2)George Taylor (#2, 12-8-4, 1KO) W10 Micky Kirby (#6, 4-9-0, 1KO)

There's not much action early, and Taylor is the first one to take a round convincingly in the 2nd. Early in the 3rd Kirby is staggered by a clear head butt, and Taylor does some nice work. They bang heads again, accidentally this time just as round 3 ends. Taylor keeps the pressure up in the 4th, but the middle rounds are slow going with lots of holding on both party's part. Kirby is pretty tired in the 7th, so Taylor accelerates landing right hand leads. Taylor is dominating round 8, when he drops Kirby for a 5 count with one of those right hands. Taylor easily wins the rounds for the rest of the way, and it turns out he was right. George Taylor wins by unanimous decision and by a country mile.

August 03, 1884

EBC - Baltimore Coliseum - Baltimore, MD
LW(R3)(T)Barney Donovan (Chmp, 21-1-0, 19KO) TKOby8 Bill Parker (#5, 8-6-0, 0KO)

Donovan nails Parker with a hard left hook 30 seconds in and Parker staggers for a moment. Parker is cautiously jabbing when Donovan unleashes a huge uppercut that floors Bill for a 4 count late in round 1. The champ lands a nasty hook that makes Parker cover up for much of round 2 but the action is still bringing them to their feet in the audience. A minute into the 3rd round the referee takes a point from the champ for using his elbows in an illegal manner, and this infuriates the champion who attacks Parker with a nasty sneer on his face and Parker barely lands a punch in the 3rd. Parker rallies in round 4, and he even gets away with a head butt that starts Donovan's eye swelling. Then as round 4 is ending Donovan scores a flash knockdown spoiling the round for Parker. Round 5 is too close to call, but it's worth noting that Donovan is again the victim of a head butt that starts the champion bleeding near an eye again. Donovan opens the 6th with a booming right cross that wobbles Parker, and he pretty much dominates the round with a sharp jab. The champion steps out still bleeding at the top of round 7, and with a minute left in the round Parker lands a pair of shots upstairs that worsen Donovan's cut and also get the champion's other eye swelling. Only 5 seconds in round 8 Donovan lands a right hand high on Parker's forehead that breaks 3 bones in Barney right hand. He immediately turns away in agony forcing the referee to stop the bout. Bill Parker wins the EBC Lightweight crown in a bizarre upset by injury TKO in the 8th.

EBC - Charter Hall - Nairobi, Kenya
HWFrank Slavin (#4, 7-3-0, 6KO) KO2 Mervine Thompson (#5, 5-3-0, 2KO)

45 seconds into the bout Thompson surprises Frank with an uppercut that drops the aussie for an 8 count. When Slavin rises he looks terrible, and Thompson hammers him with right hands until Slavin goes down again with a minute left in the opening round. Slavin again rises at 9 this time, and the "Cleveland Thunderbolt" pins Slavin in the corner and uncorks the right hand but Frank survives until round 2 at least. Slavin looks terrible and his legs are gone and Thompson is picking his shots when suddenly Slavin lands a short clean uppercut that reverses the former conditions and Thompson finds himself on the floor. Thompson blinks, but he doesn't even try to get up. Frank Slavin survives a mighty blitzkrieg to get up and knock out his opponent in a thriller!

July 14, 1884

EBC - Gymnase du Port Marchand - Toulon, France
HWPat Killen (#7, 6-2-0, 5KO) KO9 Harry Woodson (#10, 3-4-0, 0KO))

Killen lands a huge uppercut with a minute remaining in round 1, and Woodson goes down for a 6 count. Killen cautiously attacks, perhaps believing that Woodson is playing possum. Killen attacks the body in round 2, and Woodson staggers more than once. Round 3 is very close, with a ton of action and Killen staggers Woodson late in the round. Killen absolutely hammers Woodson in the 4th, scoring with hard punches upstairs until Woodson goes down for a 6 count with a few seconds left in the 4th. Early in the 5th Woodson lands a hook that cuts Killen badly on the outside of his right eye. The round ends up more or less even, but Killen does stagger Harry once with an uppercut. Woodson wisely holds in round 6, and Killen shows some frustration from his fruitless attempts to catch Woodson who's eye looks worse and worse. Killen drops the "Black Diamond" with a hard right hand, but Woodson rises at 8. Killen traps him in a corner for the follow up, and they bang heads late in the round which cuts Killen near his swollen eye. A minute into round 8 Killen staggers Woodson yet again with a right cross, and then he blasts Woodson across the ring with a right cross. They are wrestling in the 9th when Killen lands a combination that floors Woodson for the full ten count. Pat Killen wins by knockout in round 9.

July 11, 1884

EBC - Cut Off Youth Center - Cut Off, LA
LW(R2)Billy Dacey (#5, 4-4-0, 2KO) W10 Jack Keenan (#6, 2-5-0, 1KO)

Dacey traps Keenan on the ropes in the 1st, but Keenan does some nice work off the ropes and the round ends up even. Keenan lands a pair of sizzling hooks early in round 2, but Dacey starts to land the right hand late in the round and he staggers his opponent. Dacey continues to dictate the pace in round 3, and he easily wins the round. A minute into round 4 Dacey lands a right hand lead that sees Keenan trying to regain his balance and Keenan also returns to his corner with a swelling on his right eye. Round 5 is a great action round, but no one clearly takes it. By round 6 Keenan is gassed, and Dacey starts to throw power shots with the reduced risk of getting hurt. In round 7 Dacey targets Keenan's injured eye, and it looks hideous at the end of the round. Dacey scores with a huge uppercut that snaps Keenan's head back late in round 8, and Keenan has no answer at all. Both fighters catch a breather in round 9, but the last round sees Dacey scoring with a thudding uppercut with 30 seconds left in the bout. He tries to put the finishing touch on Keenan but he doesn't have the wind. Billy Dacey wins the unanimous decision.
