The Stuff of Nightmares Creator: Loki, Monkey God (www.MTGnews.com) A Deck for the Effects Magic Variant
Notes from the creator: Every creature in the deck is a Nightmare. The plan is to
use the cheap creatures to slow your opponent down, speed you up, and deal
some early damage. (Wormfang Newt, Wormfang Drake, Mesmeric Fiend) Don't
worry if they die, they're supposed to. The middle creatures solidify your
position and keep the opponent from getting more resources (Soul Scourge,
Faceless Butcher, and Petravark) The expensive creatures finish it, or at
least put your opponent within range of a deathblow (Laquatus's Champion,
Petradon, Worldgorger Dragon, Wormfang Manta, Wormfang Crab) The Chainer's
Edict is the closest thing we could get to Chainer, Dementia Master in
this deck. It is removal, but it's mostly there as a surrogate for Chainer
himself. The Mark of Fury gives everything haste, and can be used with any
large creature, though its intended use is with Worldgorger Dragon. Since
everything is a Nightmare, Cover of Darkness can end almost any game in a
hurry.
