I got this idea because I have a gun where you cannot attach a scope.
It
works well, the only problem is calibrating it.
Materials
1 cheap pair of binoculars
Velcro Strips with adhesive backs
Tape
White-out
A pen
Directions
1 First you have to take apart the binoculars so all that you have is
one of
the pieces that you look through with your eye. The pieces will
probably
snap apart on your binoculars if they were the cheap kind.
2 Next attach the velcro strips to both your gun and your binoculars.
On my
particular gun this is done on the side of the gun rather than the top,
which
I think will probably make it stronger. If you want to increase the
strength
of your scope tape it down as well, but the velcro should support most
of it.
You probably dont need velcro at all but i like my scope detachable
3 Next, on a piece of paper or something, make a small pool of
white-out.
4 Now, take a pen with a back where the outer rim sticks out slighty
more
than the rest of the back, so that you can dip the pen in whiteout then
stamp
it down on your binoculars to make a circle on the LARGER piece of
glass,
where you dont put your eye. You probably dont want your binoculars
attached
for this.
5. Finally, you can put a small dot of white-out on the other side of
the
boniculars. When calibrated right, the dot should line up in the
middle of
the circle and tell you where you are going to hit.
6 Now you are done. My pair of binoculars enabled me to put these
marks on
the inside of the glass which is better so the whiteout doesnt get
scratched
off. The big pain with this scope is that it is difficult to calibrate
in
the first place to make your whiteout marks accurate, and it takes
patience
and a few paintballs to get it right, the advantage is the white-out
wont
decalibrate like laser sights have the tendency to do, so you only have
to do
it once. I enjoyed this project, I hope you do too!
NOTE: If you put your eye directly to the binoculars, you will not see
the
whiteout marks, dont worry, when you aim you dont want your eye right
on the
scope anyway, and this is also nice for when you want to use the
magnifying
power just to scout ahead. Or you can use the second piece of the
binocular
set.
